The only thing this has in common with my playing are the fact we both use sticks and drums. It’s hard to even fathom the number of notes he plays. The doubles on the feet… and so relaxed.
Yeah, heel toe is so incredibly hard and to keep it up for that long and that fast is insane

Beautiful pedals, but I really don't care for direct drive. Still love the chain feel, so I guess my Pearl P932 will have to stay a little bit longer. Beautiful Pearl set, and I like the dark Meinl cymbals too.

Jesus! The bloke is a machine, and unlike a lot of these type of drimmers, his playing is listenable. I can't fathom how his feet don't seem to be moving that quick yet the kicks sound like machine guns? What is the benefit in having two beaters on one drum rather than playing twin kicks with single beaters?
A few things:
Space - its a pain in the ass to move two kick drums around
Expense - double the heads cost double the money
Sound - two kicks will have more sustain, but on music like this, they're using triggers, so that doesn't matter too much anyways
Feel - this is generally the most important this, there is a noticeable difference between the way a double pedal feels compared to two kicks, and when you're playing as fast as this dude, I'd imagine every little difference would be very noticeable
He uses alot of heel-toe, hence the relative lack of motion in the feet/legs. He's truly a master of double pedal heel-toe, most videos I've seen of him recently he almost uses heel-toe for 16th note triplets and 32nd notes
If I could have even just his hand technique...

Great playing! Music sounds like a mess though.
It just makes sence to have 2 sets of each type of cymbal for left and right. Remote hi hats yes but I gues no offset double kick because offsets are s gimmick or John is wasting for the sponsorship? Anyway from Neil to The Rev now today its This beast of a drummer.

I just bought the pedals 4 Days ago. They are still packed up in the Thomann Deliverybox sitting in the hallway. I really love the fact that i own them now but i hate the fact that i wont play any better😂😂😂 Especially after watching this Video over and over again. Well … let‘s play Baldurs Gate 3 first. But … that game is also very complicated. Ok, f*** my life!

Good news, you don't have to!
There are a few ways to look at this style of playing. First is that this genre can be kind of like a sport with ones own technical ability. Kind of like how shred guitarist love to sweep throughout an entire song. The energy involved can be euphoric but if you are not into metal, extreme music or anything that requires a little muscle, then this means nothing. Cheers mate
