wow....i have been playing and listening to music for a few hundred years, and i really appreciate those players who have commited themselves to pouring out the best their heart and soul can produce,,,,,,,your abilitys are inspiring, i have been checking out amps,,, and was down to the peavey jsx,,,and mesa boogies, electric dyne90wt..... this video helped me decide,,,thank you,,, your awesome , soulfull expressions are a powerfull motivation..... rock on. ..Earl
this amp slips under the radar all the time...it's a brute and the tones are excellent ! The cleans are also stellar and are taken from the peavey classic circuit...just add reverb and its awesome
Totally agreed. Don't understand why many guys add TS9 in front. Really doesn't need it. RVRB, touch of Dealy and you're good to go. I considered selling mine along the years as I'm not giging anymore, but each time I play it, I go waowww, it's really an awesome amp. Just can't get rid of it, especially with a Mesa 2x12, better couple I ever had. Very nice play along BTW, I've been a long time watcher of this video.
Aside from the great tone .. it's refreshing to see someone using great phrasing in their solos ... instead of the typical 'wank fests' that are so prevalent on TH-cam ... sounds to me like someone is quite Lukather and Carlton influenced ... lol .. .the tune at 4:08 in particular .. sweet Luke'isms dude .. the Rosanna type over bends at 4:56 ... love em ... Great upload !!!!
I was just going through another "Maybe it's time I got a different amp" phases, after 5 years with my JSX. And now I saw this and want to go back and play with the EQ all over again! Sounds great!
+odgeUK Cool! Well, I don't own this amp anymore, but sometimes I miss it. But we never made really good friends... Yes, the EQ is worth fooling around with, also with master volume high and channel volume low, and vice versa - different sounds. Good luck!
+odgeUK I now have a modded Mesa Lonestar head and a Marshall JVM410HJS, Satriani-model! Really good amps, but in different ways. I like the Marshall better though! :)
Just picked up the JSX a couple of days ago. I love it .... been playing straight thru, just wish it had reverb. Just a pinch, then I wouldn't even bother with my pedalboard :) Oh BTW your playing is stellar !!! I was sold when you played "The Loner "... One of my all-time favorite instrumentals
dam dude nice playing you actually demonstrate the magic on playing guitar usually people go super fast that they dont know what there feeling but man thats great on how you play
@lickburner48 May be a loose tube. Combos are notorious for having this issue. Tubes dont like being in the speaker cabinet. When you run the extension it moves some of the power and vibration away from the head even if it doesn't cut out the in-cab speakers. I'd start there. Hope it helps.
Make sure you get to try the JSX before you buy it. I sold mine because I didn't like that the tone doesn't clean up that well on the overdrive channel, it's more like if you turn down the gain knob on the amp instead of making the overdrive turn into a sweet clean tone. But if that isn't important for you, just buy it! The clean channel is really good as a platform for overdrive pedals. And loud - the loudest amp I ever tried!
@CedricIII Hello Again! I took your suggestion , sort of, about the lonestar, i went down to my local guitar center, and a excellent guitar man showed me what a mesa boogie could do,, specifically the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier 2 x 12 Roadster, it blew me away, ,,, he called it,, the amplifier for life,,,,i am extremely happy,,,,thanks for the motivation,,,,now to get my fingers buzzy,,,,ouch... Earl
Thanks! Ok, nice! The amp has a certain voicing that I couldn't get along with and it didn't really clean up that well when you turn down the guitar volume, but it's a great amp, but it just wasn't for me. Good luck with yours! :)
Well, I don't play in bands anymore, but I have a Mesa Boogie Lonestar (modded) and a Marshall JVM410HJS. Also have a t.c. Electronics G-system and a bunch of different ODs, compressors and stuff, ready to go when ever I feel like playing live again, but I lost the feeling for playing in bands, cover songs and allt that sh*t... I only play at home now and use a Kemper all the time. Souds sooo good! I profiled my amps too and those are the profiles I use for most of the time. Awesome gadget, that KPA! Love it!
Nice playing. I have the same guitar but use it with a Vox Tonelab pedalboard. You have good feel and plenty of technique man. Satriani can shred but can you make look into his soul with one note :)
damn nice playing man! I want to have this amp so bad. This is somewhat the only video that shows what I want to hear. The lead tones. I always come across video's where they play metal. I hate that Thx for sharing man!
I've been playing guitar long enough to recognize some riffs that even I use .. lol .. Your a great guitarist by the way !!!and even Steve Lukather will admit his mentor was Larry Carlton .. I've been listening to those cats forever
Could you do a demo of some midiverb presets i'm really interested in buying it. How does it perform in running in front of the amp? I have a plexi so i really would like to know :D :D
I'm passing by every day to get my daily dose of inspirational playing and sweeeet sound. Would it be possible to add text comments to see which pickup you're using in which section?
Nice playing man...I was wondering what your pedal board set up is? I have a jsx and I'm running a rivera 4x12 with v30's in it, but I haven't found that perfect pedal set up yet. I really dig your tone and sustain, and was wondering if you could tell me what your set up looks like? Thanks man!
Wow your setup and playing sounds amazing! Hopefully some day I will be able to afford all that nice equipment, but right now I'm just a poor college student lol
nice going man! really like earing you play!. i'm thinking on geting your pickups set for my Ibanez... but i was wondering how they work in the middle position. i have mahogany body... do you think they'll sound as good as yours?
sounds good, if you want that sweet feedback get an overdrive pedal to boost the amp, i prefer the crunch channel for sweet stuff, what channel were you using on this video?
CedricIII, very impressive man. I have a JS1000 and use a GT-8. I'm desperate to know what you are using for your delay and reverb. The dreamy delay you are getting at 00:27 in the video is mind boggingly good. Please share what you are using to get that sound.
That was beautiful... the tone comes from the fingers and you have talent... You have also captured the sound really good. How did you capture the sound?
nice gary moore jam at 2:40 - where did you get the backing track? you've got excellent tone going on in this video, and your playing is nothing short of awsome. keep it up - subscribed.
Hey man. Your tone is inspiring! I just got a JSX and I was wondering what your settings are on all 3 channels. I saw you said you had the gain around 12 o'clock. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Great playing as well! Very tasty!
Sorry, I don't remember, but I never really liked that amp. It got a good tone though, but it has a thick tone about it that I never liked. But it shure did cut through any mix, both in the studio and live. No problem. A great amp but not for me! Thanks!
Very impressive! Sweet tone and playing. I'm looking for replacement pickups for my JS100. That Breed/PAFJoe combo seems to be a good choice. Are you trying different ones now or do you think this is it?
Any idea why Satriani didn't use the ultra channel on this amp for his solos but used a distortion pedal instead? Is it because it just isn't that great, or what? Nice playing tho :)
Danke!
It's weird, to me I can almost always spot an Ibanez tone...they always have a certain sound to me. like a Les Paul or a Srat ya know? VERY nice tone man
do you think the breed is the best or tone zone, norton? and with split too? is there a big difference fred/breed? i would like to have the fred tone with split and a bigger sound with no split do you know?
How would you compare JSX and JCM800 for hard rock crunch? I'm looking between those two but JSX is in another town, and I can't really find much info on it. It might be my impression but it sounds a bit colder than JCM. Love your videos and playing btw.
If you're looking for crunch, the JSX is NOT the right amp... and that's the biggest reason to why I got rid of mine. The JSX is a great amp, but the mids are a bit too much IMO and the amp doesn't clean up well when you roll off the guitar volume, It becomes less distorted but it's more like turning down the gain on the amp itself rather than cleaning up. So... I would choose the JCM800, it cleans up when you roll off guitar volume and gives you the crunch you're looking for. Thanks!
***** Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate it. I was thinking about that JSX because it has a bit more gain than JCM in terms of boost lead channel, but I guess JCM800 can be modded for that purposes. Thanks again, hope we get some more nice bluesy videos soon :)
Frostensen No problem. You CAN mod the JCM800 but i suggest that you try an overdrive pedal or some sort of boost pedal in front of the amp first, because I believe that would do the trick for you! If you can afford it, try the Marshall JVM410HJS, I got one myself just a couple of months ago and it really rocks! By the way, I got a video of me playing a JCM800 combo, you might want to take a look at it. I think it has a bit too little distortion, but as I mentioned earlier in this reply, all you need is a tube screamer or similar, then it rocks! Good luck!

sjysst lirat.

Really good amps, but in different ways. I like the Marshall better though! :)
Great stuff Cedric, great playing. The JSX has a real nice melodic feedback too.
Damn fine playing bro.....i dig the JSX under the radar great amp

Wow, great tone...great guitar...great player!
This video alone inspired me to put Dimarzio Breeds in my basswood RG, and buy a JSX 212 combo. The tone combined is ridiculous!
dam dude nice playing you actually demonstrate the magic on playing guitar usually people go super fast that they dont know what there feeling but man thats great on how you play
you gotta a kick ass setup man. some awesome amps man.
@lickburner48 May be a loose tube. Combos are notorious for having this issue. Tubes dont like being in the speaker cabinet. When you run the extension it moves some of the power and vibration away from the head even if it doesn't cut out the in-cab speakers. I'd start there. Hope it helps.
Cool jams - nice playing!
the tone you get from that...is killer man...
Great playing and great tone. Ive debates about snatching one of these for a while now.

He is look like young Gilmour!) Very very good playing!
Fantastic. . hard to beat the tone of the JSX. . a lot of amp for the money.

hey fellow player... I really enjoyed your video.Great playing.Best wishes.
Once again, a great vid man! I think you should put out a new video with the whole song "the loner", that you played a little bit from here, haha :)

guys this guy could play through a practice amp and sound this great... tones in the fingers
+XxdartvaderxX Tone is partly from the fingers and also from the guitar, the amp, the effects, etc.
wow that was quite something, Tone is really good. Jack
Thanks, Jack, I appreciate your nice comment very much! :)
awsome guitar playin..
Wow your setup and playing sounds amazing! Hopefully some day I will be able to afford all that nice equipment, but right now I'm just a poor college student lol

this helped to sell me on the Breed bridge pup.
Fredric cool jams ,nice amp;peace [Freddie]
How do you like the JSX Cab ans Speakers? Have you tried the cab with other amps, or changed the speakers or anything like that?
Hello would like to know that Cabinet and speakers you use, touching well, greetings
That looks like a Peavey JSX cab to me

Cant deciede if i want this amp or a plexi
That was beautiful... the tone comes from the fingers and you have talent... You have also captured the sound really good. How did you capture the sound?

Very impressive! Sweet tone and playing. I'm looking for replacement pickups for my JS100. That Breed/PAFJoe combo seems to be a good choice. Are you trying different ones now or do you think this is it?
Can you tell me the name of all song please, pretty please ? :-D
what is the tune around 3:30 to 4:05 ? Great melody.
Verkligen bra!!!!
Forsman ! Bra som tusan, som vanligt !!!
Vad heter bandet du spelar i ?
Any idea why Satriani didn't use the ultra channel on this amp for his solos but used a distortion pedal instead? Is it because it just isn't that great, or what?

voll geil....nie langweilig... völlig cooler Sound und bestes Handwerk.
Wo spielst Du ?? Du bist doch ein Profi ? oder ?
Danke!
Mvh Josef
What are the differences to you between the fred and the breed bridge pickup?
It's weird, to me I can almost always spot an Ibanez tone...they always have a certain sound to me. like a Les Paul or a Srat ya know?
VERY nice tone man
Can you tell me how much you got for the jsx head???? i want rid of mine i am a really big fan of satch but really dont like the amp! =/
Hoj
do you think the breed is the best or tone zone, norton? and with split too?
is there a big difference fred/breed? i would like to have the fred tone with split and a bigger sound with no split do you know?
Gary M. 50000 stars. Amazing
what do you use now :D :D
What is on the foot switch for this amp? All 3 channels only or is there a reverb on off switch?
How loud is the amp when recording this video? Do you remember where the master volume was at?
what's the third song's title?
