What are your thoughts on Episodes 5 and 6 of 'The Last Dance'?

The 1996 Sonics are perhaps one of the most underrated teams in NBA history. The Rockets were 2-time defending champs with Olajuwon, Drexler, Robert Horry, Kenny Smith & Sam Cassell but Seattle swept us in the playoffs. I admired how strong the Bull's defense was because the Sonics were loaded on offense. The Sonics averaged 110.5 points against Houston but only 89.2 against the Bulls, a stunning drop of 20.7 PPG. Somehow the Sonics were held to only 75 points in Game 6 to close out the Finals.

the Bulls had 3 guys who prided themselves on defense that's how

I thought George Karl had died years ago. Glad he's still around. Was a great coach. reminded me of Marty Schottenheimer, just won basically where ever he went, but couldn't win the big one.

He had throat cancer but survived. Amazing coach, much of the pace and space schemes and the three point shooting he was implementing 30 years ago.

Shawn Kemp as a Bull would have been interesting... Seattle vs Chicago with Pippen and Kemp exchanged would have been EPIC.

If Kemp adjust to MJ's game and temper, uff!! Would have been greater than with Pippen, I think!!! My fav players are MJ, Penny, Kobe, Kemp

George had a lot to say about the jump shooting In 96 so first game next year Jordan hit em up for 45 ..

George thanks for everything you did for the nuggets. Best season in franchise history still to this day is cause of you, billups, and MELO. Thanks g.

FallopianJones he might he might not. I don’t really care if he does. He was part of my favorite memories of the Nuggets. That team was so much fun to watch, and I don’t think he gets credit for getting all those guys to play championship level basketball.

I like George as an analyst, especially at ESPN before he went back to coaching with the Kings. He's totally right about that 96' Finals, the last two games were slugfests.

Wow.... to think that Pippen could have been dealt for Kemp. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened with CHI and SEA if that happened.

I wonder who Jerry Krause wanted Seattle to draft with the 11th pick? He was willing to kick in $5 Million to the deal in order to make it happen. Picks 11 through 17 are:
    Carlos Rogers
    Khalid Reeves
    Jalen Rose
    Yinka Dare
    Eric Piatkowski
    Clifford Rozier
    Aaron McKie
I assume it had to be one of them. Who would Jerry want so badly? Jalen?

George Karl was an excellent coach but he refused to adapt to today’s NBA and couldn’t manage any egos at all. Melo and DeMarcus needed a coach to guide them and he wasn’t able to do that at the end of his career.

Seattle would have beat Chicago if McMillan hadn't gotten hurt. Karl forgot to mention that he was the one who would have been on Jordan. He was the better one on one defender than Payton and the Sonics best 3pt shooter and passer that year.

Maybe I'm to young but from going back and researching that finals and watch payton later in that career I figured payton was top deffender lest at the guard position if I'm wrong my bad

Not really sure about Nate being the best defender. It was the time that the Glove was really making out a name for himself defense-wise and covered Michael competently.

Are you Siding? Bulls started 3-0 series, games 4 and 5 they just gave as Anthony Davis has usted, after some loses.clearly, they camera game 6 agressive, no way,the bulls would lose.

I remember the Sonic's playing great until the finals. MJ killed them. Kemp had to play center/forward. Pacific Northwest misses the Supersonics and wait for their return.

MJ had tendinitis in playoff. U can tell. He’s not 100%. Asked bulls team doctor. He reduced his training load in 1997.

    • @lamefart
      @lamefart 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It was seen in the 72-10 documentary when he rode the bus/plane. He used a portable muscle stim device attached to his knees. Quite advanced in those time. Not everybody knew about this. Well of course MJ wasn't known to always broadcast about his injuries unless questioned.
When Pippen was out for weeks when he had his ankle injury, there was a game when Rodman was thrown out of the game due to 2 technical fouls, the second was when he headbutted a referee! Hahaha! MJ had to do the offensive and defensive duties as well. He ended up scoring 37 pts and 16 rebounds.
What if Pip didn't have any injuries and Dennis behaved for the whole season? All those 1 point difference in their 3 losses when Pip wasn't playing well, and that 1 loss where Dennis was out, they could've won all of those. They could've won at least another 5 games! They could've won 76-77 of the 82 games!
