Could you explain how you made the silhouettes? Looks like you have the paper cut outs.. then did you press it into the fondant to make little Line imprints to follow with the knife?
It's a self healing cutting mat for crafting but works great for a non stick fondant surface. You can get them on Amazon or most likely any craft store.
So pretty.. i am going to make one for my son bday. I am also using wilton gel coloring. You used, red, orange and yellow right? Did you have to mix 2 colors for the darkest orange? Cause when i tried mixing my darkest orange did not look like yours. TIA
Yes I did, I added 1 drop of red at a time until I had an orange I liked! I also used golden yellow as opposed to lemon yellow. You can add a dab of a range to your lemon yellow if you don’t have golden. Hope this helps! If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
Hi! Thanks for watching! If the pieces are big I use a few tiny dabs but the small ones will stick on their own if you hold them for a second. Be sure chill your cake first and to let your buttercream crust before adding decorations. Helps to keep from ruining the finish and if you don’t get the placement perfect you can remove it and try again without much damage.
@@sarishnasingh9601 I did! First I frosted the cake yellow, then I added the paper, frosted again with the orange then pulled of the paper to reveal the sun. Also added a few darker orange smears over the sun to look like glowing clouds.
Hello Markeeta! Thanks for watching the video! Unfortunately that’s not something I really do, as I am quite busy with baking and video making, I’m very sorry but I hope my video helps you on your baking adventure!🥰
Good morning, thank you for the reply. I actually made them myself. I cried a few times (Ugly tears) ..for the sunset should I just cut-out a piece of parchment paper in the shape of a circle, to achieve the sun effect? I won't be attempting pride rock that's for sure! 🤣..Last question 3 layer 8in or 3 layer 9in? Thank you so much. I love your work❤👍🏾👍🏾🤗
That’s so great to hear, I hope they turned out ok for you. For the sunset, yes, I just used a circle piece of parchment after the cake had crusted, and lastly it was 3 x 8” cake layers.
@@TheRobynsNest So crumb coat, and than parchment paper? Sorry to be a pest. Son turning 4 next weekend. Lion King party. I want this cake to be flawless. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. 😁
@@markeetaroane3 I did the crumbcoat in yellow, yes, but made the buttercream a little thicker on the cake where the sun was going to go, then placed the circle there.
I'll just leave it here for ya! 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup shortening 1 Tbsp vanilla 4 cups of powdered sugar 1-2 Tbsp milk or cream 1-2 Tbsp luke warm water Whip your butter, shortening and vanilla till light and fluffy. Sift your sugar. Add half to your butter mixture and blend (use your paddle attachment if u have a stand mixer) You want to mix it slow as you add the sugar so as not to incorporate to many air bubbles. Add 1 Tbsp milk and 1 Tbsp water then blend again till just blended. Add remaining sugar and mix till fully blended. Add more milk or water at this point if you find your consistency to thick but just a few drops at a time. If you live somewhere warm you might be able to skip adding the final amount of liquid. You know it's done when your consistency is smooth and easily spreadable but not too runny or it will make your cake layers slide all over the place. I like to chill my cake between each step as well for best results. Fill your layers, then chill, then add your crumb coat and chill again before adding your final layer. If your going for the ombre look, don't worry about the lines being perfect as you pipe them around, if they overlap a but that just helps your colors blend together better when you're smoothing your icing! Hope this was helpful! Happy baking!
‘This is not just a cake it’s a piece of art ...you are a truly great artist ..love
Thank you so much! Im so happy you like it!

That's exactly what I did😄
This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Do you use a circle paper before the final BC coat, then remove before smoothing, to get the sun effect?
Yup, that is correct, sorry about that, the footage with the sound became corrupt, I should have added a caption.
Absolutely amazing!
Thank you 😊
Thank you very much! Great video. Please what kind of mat is that?

Thanks for the sharing. Quick question do you apply water to stick the fondant or you put it straight on the buttercream? Thanks
