They already had a Starman 2 per se in the form of a TV series in 1986. Starman was played by Robert Hayes from Airplane! and Jenny Hayden appeared in one episode played by Erin Gray (Buck Rogers, Silver Spoons)
I love Jeff Bridges' films. Starman is one of my all-time favourites
