The date of Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring. It should stay this way. Let other rites align with the One Holy Apostolic Chuch, the Roman Catholic Church.

@@timsmith7066 I like the too at the end. You’re at least admitting that Rome has changed and if compared to Rome from let’s say 500AD it would be unrecognisable. What has changed in the orthodox church exactly? They’ve been using the exact same liturgy of st John Chrysostom, recite the same creed of the 2nd council, use the leavened bread and wine like the early church, keep the same dates the early church kept, fast twice a week like the early church and the apostles instructed in the didache, adhere to the holy ecumenical councils. Rome on the other hand had defected and every historically honest person will not deny that. As someone who was raised and baptised in the eastern catholic church, when I begun to look at history, watch eo vs rc debates, and learn about vatican I and II contradictions, I couldn’t help but accept holy orthodoxy as the true non defected apostolic church.

Sorry to upset you and deplete your hopes and wishes for this to truly happen in truth one day for it never will, ever! It was the Catholic who chose to leave and separate from the Orthodox. So now, Catholic can eat and swallow all their words. For they mean absolutely nothing to us Orthodox, who are clearly not interested at all. Orthodox is Christian and worships God, the Holy Trinity.

The main differences between Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism. the main things which keep our religions separate are:
Papal Supremacy, Papal Infallibility, The Filioque, Absolute Divine Simplicity, Created Grace Doctrine, natural theology, scholasticism, Original sin, sacred heart doctrine, Immaculate conception, Purgatory, Merits/Indulgences, PSA - Penal Substitutionary Atonement, evolution of Dogma, imaginative prayer, "beatific vision" etc
Then the Forced Celibacy of Priests, The use of Unleavened Bread in the Eucharist, The Adoption and change of the Christian calendar, The use of Renaissance statues, Pews, Child Communion, improper non immersion baptism, Cardinals, and differences in liturgical practices (Alter tables, Iconostasis, priest positioning etc)
all of those things, we say the Western Church adopted and innovated and became heretical when they adopted these things.
And we say that in the early church NONE of these things existed, there is no evidence of these things.
No examples of Papal Infallibility, No examples of merits/indulgences, and no examples of unleavened wafer bread, and such.
In fact in the west, In Rome. It looked a lot similar to how we Orthodox exist today. Our priests can get married, we use Icons and not statues, we use the old calendar etc
    Orthodoxy Vs Roman Catholicism:
Energy Essence Distinction vs Absolute Divine Simplicity
    Ancestral Sin vs Original Sin
Non Filioque Trinity vs Filioque Trinity
    Patriarchy vs Papacy
    Revealed Theology vs Natural Theology
    Hesychasm Vs Scholasticism
    Theosis vs Sanctification
    Married Priest vs Celibate Priests
Infant Communion Vs Non Infant Communion
    Iconography vs Statues
Full Immersion Baptism vs Sprinkle Baptism
    One Baptism vs Confirmation Baptism
Leavened Communion Bread vs Unleavened Communion bread
Julian Calendar vs Pope Gregory's Calendar
We are not the same Religion, we do not have the same faith, and anyone who looks into either religions genuinely will see how different we are..

So the pope is willing to change the date of a Holy event for that sake of unity? The same pope that is trying to 'unify' religion by saying there is more than one way to God?
1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus...
John 14: 6 - "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
1 Timothy 4:1-2 - The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
2 Timothy 4:2-4 - Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

It was the Rome who split by becoming power hungry and demanded the alteration of the nicaean-Constantinoplian creed and adding the filioque. Since the schism and rome has begun swimming in a sea of heresies to the point that even their priests got sick of it and split and formed the Protestant movement. While I like the idea, there are logistical problems which would result, at least at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. With the two different dates, each sect would have their time for the Easter celebration and liturgy. The problems would occur if the Orthodox and the Catholic were to celebrate Easter on the same day. There’s a sharing of that space by other, usually smaller sects of Christians, as well as the Latin rite, and the Orthodox rites.
So working out how sharing the space would occur would require compromise and working out the logistics.

He didn't say anything important. The most important thing is that the Roman Catholic Church must accept our Lord Jesus Christ as the Head of the body-the Church- not the Pope. The Pope cannot be sinless, because he is only a man. Only Jesus Christ is perfect, He is the Good Shepard. And not only this, but there are also so many things that Roman Catholic Church must change and go back to the origin of the Christianity.

Ephesians 2:4 KJV "But GOD, Who is rich in mercy, for HIS great love wherewith HE loved us, 5 even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with CHRIST, (by grace you are saved;) 6 and has raised us up together, and made us sit together in Heavenly places in CHRIST JESUS: 7 that in the ages to come HE might show the exceeding riches of HIS Grace in HIS kindness toward us through CHRIST JESUS. 8 For by Grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of GOD: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast."

It looks so unusual that Francis wears a larger zucchetto that covers almost the whole top of his head. I wonder if that is so it will stay in place better. Previous popes, along with bishops and cardinals, do not usually wear them in this size.

A question- Is it the dating of Easter for the west that is the problem or the date of Christmas that is the real problem for the consumer based Western Church, just asking, please let me know when you think.

Good point.... The rc church could align Christmas and easter with our Orthodox brethren but would the world go along with it and to a lesser extent would 40000 protestant denominations join in on the unity train?😊

@ thanks for the reply. If Rome follows the dating of Easter as the Church in the East and that is both the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches the money will follow. The Protestant churches just follow what everybody else does, so if the calendar shows the dates for Easter the preacher gives a sermon on the resurrection of Jesus, as most of the free churches don’t follow a liturgical calendar for the church year but a few do and as Rome celebrates so will they. December 25 will be the big challenge for the west, you know the Day we spend MONEY for Gifts, sometimes we remember the Nativity of Christ but for the most part no. January 7 is the day known as Old Christmas by a few old timers in the USA but even this is slipping into faded memory.
The western calendar will celebrate Easter over 30 times in the remainder of this century before the Jewish Passover, the council of Nicaea ruled that the church was to wait until the Passover was complete not just one day it includes the day of Passover and the days of unleavened bread which number eight days in total.
I believe if the Western Church follows the rules for dating Easter as the Orthodox do then finding a way to move Christmas to December wouldn’t be a problem. Then again the January 7 celebration of the Nativity eliminates the commercial side.

There once was, a thousand years ago. And since then, we've been divided. If we share essential doctrines, it would be really good to repair the divide. Jesus prayed that their would be unity among his followers, and Paul told people not say they belonged to Paul or Peter, because Christ wasn't divided and his followers shouldn't be either.

@joanturri5500 +JMJ In Jn 17 the Lord is talking about the Apostles and those who believe in the Lord. If you believe in the Lord you follow His word. That would exclude schismatics. Bending Scripture and Tradition does nothing for Church unity. It makes disunity more possible.
