@@victoriasvlog It’s refreshing to hear someone be open and honest with how they are feeling. I think we like to consume positive videos because we do go through tough times in our lives. I am 41 and I feel like I should be in a better place than I am now but I’ve realized that things happen for a reason and even thought I’m not where I thought I’d be, I am where I’m supposed to be at this point in my life. You’re doing great. We love your videos!💜

A Tree Grow in Brooklyn was my absolute favourite book when I was a teenager! Such a cosy read, and one of the only books that makes me cry every time I re-read it. Also have had Giovanni's Room on my list for a while and this feels like my sign to go pick up a copy. Thanks for a great video 💜

I've almost finished Giovanni's Room - and I'm not sure whether I can recommend it: the characters are not very nice and there is a lot of infidelity and misogyny. But the writing is very deep & philosophic. Also the setting in Paris is beautiful. But all in all it's not a book I'd easily recommend.

Huge congratulations on completing your half marathon. I did one about 12 years ago. I wasn’t happy in my personal life or career (both much better now) and I wanted a challenge for which I could be 100% responsible. Sometimes we can’t control a lot of things in our lives, but I could control my training. My goal was to finish it without having to stop to walk, which I was able to do. I was never a runner and never thought I could run 1 mile, let alone 13 so it was a big achievement for me. Even though I’m not a runner now - I found other exercises I like more - I still consider it a significant moment in my life. Whenever I have faced challenges I just think ‘well, I didn’t think I could do a half-marathon and I did, so I can do this too!’ I hope you continue to feel the same sense of pride and achievement long after your race.❤

Yay! I love all your videos, but the half marathon footage/story in particular hit me hard. I could feel your emotion & was crying as you talked through the last of the race. So proud of you! 🎉 I am running my own kind of marathon right now - grad school in a completely different field - and it’s so hard. At least once a week I wonder if I’m going to make it. So sorry to hear that you feel the same about the corporate office situation :( Especially with different cultural norms it must be extra hard. Back in Germany we had e.g. 1 hour lunch break with the team: we would go to a restaurant and talk about personal stuff, like friends. Here in the London offices things look very differently. You are not alone in this! Sending a virtual hug!

one thing I noticed this video is that there seemed to be a lot more people in the background showing up in your frame. I think you should consider blurring peoples faces out of respect. Not everyone wants to be filmed, and going out in public doesn't automatically equal consent. Something to think about?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate the feedback. I’m actually from Germany originally, so I get that privacy laws (and expectations) can be a lot stricter than here. In the UK, though, filming in public or at events like this half marathon doesn’t require me to blur faces, and everyone was informed beforehand that the organisers would be recording.
That said, I always try to be respectful, especially when it comes to kids, whose faces I either blur or leave out of the shot completely. I know not everyone is super comfortable with public filming, so I’ll definitely keep your comment in mind for the future!
