I heard that Clark International Speedway was going to be hosting a Drag Race event so I ran over to the track to see what it was all about. The Motul Drag Master Cup 2023 was held on Sept 16-17 and featured several different race classes that competitors could race in: Diesel Class Hotstreet Sportsman Expert Supercars Pro Class Super Pro Class and Quick 8. There were vendor tents set up around the garage area and food and refreshments were available for racers and spectators as well.
This was a fun event to see and the wide variety of cars made for an exciting day at the track. Most of the cars I saw race were small Imports but there were a couple American Muscle cars with huge Nitrous injected engines that raced. The Nova I didn't get to see run but the Monza with the big block I saw race a few times and when I was leaving they told me they were in the money so good for them.

I agree, there's nothing like the sound of a V-8 with a radical camshaft idling towards the starting line. As the saying goes, give me a V-8. If I wanted a 2 liter I'd buy a Pepsi!

I was the track photographer before the pandemic and up until last year. That monza gernaded the tranny last year. I got a bad ass picture of it and the owner put the picture in his office. Thankful for a scatter shield.
there were quite a few cameras running around plus they were doing a live-cast from somewhere in there 👍

I am surprised because I always had to wear a vest. Being a photographer and paid extra. But was only like a hundred pesos extra. Worst thing was the motorcycle and car racing. I would go in the field area and you can’t leave until the racing is over and zero place to sit. The people there are super awesome and always fed me and running water to me. You need to make friends at the pay booth and they will make sure you get access and special treatment.

nova got held on the line too long under rev and cooked the head gasket i guess 😳😬 new engine and all

I love the sound of a V8 rumble, but it was sad to see it get off to a bad start. I love V8 muscle too.
no not a bad start they stagger em to keep it even i believe 👍 v8 had to wait to go for a fraction, i could be wrong

I hate too see what would happen to that Monza if it came up a properly tuned big turbo 2JZ powered car, a nasty Skyline or even well tuned properly setup K powered Honda. Wouldn't be pretty.
