i am using drone link with the first DJI mini and the follow feature is fantastic... i really think the problem is not the app. I am riding my dirt bike and it is keeping up with me and is very smooth
It is fine with older drones, I believe that the issue is the third party support with the newer drones on DJI’s end.

The Mini 3 does NOT have obstacle avoidance. Get the Mini 3 Pro: linktr.ee/danstubetv
I think that sway in the beginning wasnt calibration, I bet it was gain of GPS (GPS point moving around since interference and it tried to follow that spot from your TX) it tried to follow from too close and when it was almost top of you higher, it did the same.. Longer distance that marginal is lower. My quess.. Try around 45 degree angle towards you and enough distance.

I tested the Mini 3 Pro with an Android device. I don’t know if it is compatible with iOS yet.

Nice video but why on earth did you pick such a distracting environment to begin the follow me test? A nice simple clear line of sight area would have been much better to begin with to see how the app worked before putting it through its paces. After watching the video there is no way I would trust this app to control my drone. Keep the videos going I do like them.
What DJI drone would you purchase to use DRONELINK follow me mode. I currently have Mavic mini? time to upgrade
Hey Dan thanks for the video. Does the dronelink app only work for the rcn1 controller with phone? Or can you download it on the RC Pro since it allows third party apps? Also do you know if dronelink app is compatible with Mavic 3 series as well for follow?
You can download Dronelink on the RC Pro and it will work. The Mavic 3 Series is not supported.
Of course DJI could properly implement this in a heartbeat themselve if they wanted to, let's face the music. As for how things are now with this app, totally useless. But looking forward to hear about an upgrade if this gets at all to become reliable. Thanks for the video and congrats the drone didn't go totally wako and crash.. I will not try it in mine just yet for sure🤭🤭🤭
Thanks for your comment. Hopefully the app integration for the Mini 3 Series is optimised by Dronelink over the coming months.
Does the follow me mode with this app work with the DJI mini 3 that does not havec the follow me in the DJI app?
It does work but still not 100% reliable.

Yes, you can still use waypoints and a variety of other missions types through the app and on the desktop web app. I will create a waypoints video soon.

No, not the DJI RC. The DJI RC Pro can.
My guess is the calculation isn't done fast enough yet in the app. And when there is a delay between the phone location and the drone you get this. It's basically toilet bowl. The GPS is off a bit. But because DJI drones try to correct/prevent toilet bowl it doesn't look quite the same.
And it's stupid, but my $130 L109 Pro 'toy' drone does the follow-me perfectly. Smooth and predictable. It has nothing to do with the price.
Hmmm, that is interesting. Hopefully something changes soon for the Mini 3 Series with Dronelink.

Not out of the box but you can use third party apps. They are not supported 100% at this stage.

That is active-track, optical. Completely different. Great feature, but it can lose you.
There is no follow mode or active track on the mini 3, just the mini 3 pro
