- Welcome to a King's Quest 5 walkthrough. Just pure gameplay. King's Quest 5 was released by Sierra On-Line in 1990 and had a significant increase in graphics over the previous games in the series. Kings' Quest 5 stars King Graham who returns to Daventry to find the castle and all of his family missing. With the help of Cedric the owl he must find the evil wizard who cast the spell and return the castle to its rightful place.

This is amazing. Got me through a rough covid fever afternoon in late 2022. I played this game when I was a kid but could never get past the desert, I have no idea how anyone could have figured all these puzzles out without assistance! Super cool blast of nostalgia, and opportunity to experience the whole game in a way I never managed as a child. +1000000 to OP, merci beaucoup!
I got thru it with much much trial and error. Really took a lot to finish a game in those days, couldn't look up answer to everything
Yeah I took me quite a while as a child through trial and error probably over the course of a year or so
I genuinely don't know how I beat it as a kid. While I was subject to countless deaths, I never managed to permanently screw my playthrough with things like that cat/mouse/shoe blink and you miss it puzzle. Lots of luck. Also had the floppy version so never got the full Cedric experience.
I can still recall this one very well! When we were going from EGA to VGA. The colors of this game were a giant leap forward during those times! It was so awesome to just see this game when it launched.

Literally just got done beating this game. I'm replaying all of the kings quests and i'm glad there's others out there that loved the games too!

I had the version without cutscenes. I looked at charter and because of his gray hair, I considered him an old man who wanted to look younger. With this approach the game seems much funnier
Is the VGA version available with text instead of voice?
Gyah I remember this game taking MUCH longer than 2 hours-ish xD
It took me much longer on my first playthrough as well, but I've won it a few times since then
I remember having to take out a massive guide book in order to survive this game. I died in the desert a LOT. And the weeping willow was the stuff of nightmares in my childhood.
I don't think you died once this whole playthrough unless you edited that out! Makes the game seem a lot less scary.
I seem to remember being turned into a frog in the forest a lot :)

Those games could have been better than monkey island if only the gameplay wasn't this awful.
It's from the early 90s dude. This is the first King's Quest game with voice acting to it and that you didn't have to physically type in commands or use your arrow keys to direct the character around the screen.
This is a damn good game.
in 1990 this was one of the best VGA graphics
