She's NUTS
Hi smallant
hy smalant i love you
How is my man only getting 250 likes? Travesty really
deez nuts
SmallAnt1? Barely know em!
This journey was incredible to follow and help out with for the last year. The Nut Queen right here.
Nut Queen
Queen of Nutting
couldn't have done it without you o7 i pass on the title of WR holder graciously
Never say Nut Queen ever again
you already took her world record?
"Incredible feats" Ant silently screaming XD SKIP LET'S GOO in the background
"WE SAVED NO TIME AND DID A SKIP THAT COULD KILL US XD GUYS"
The OG
Congrats, you are now the only person in the world who has a minimum captures record that is quicker than their Any % 😂
LMAO
I mean, could you not submit a min captures run as an any% one?
@@endermeap6488 I think any% doesn't let you switch from single to 2 player during the run, so no
@@jonathanbaxter2792 min caps is only 2 player with 3 captures 12 captures is all single player
This run follows any% rules so the time is the same
I forgot how hard speedrunning is and goes in depth, amazing video!
Agreed!

Even though you can only see the video, you can still faintly hear the excited "XDDDD" run through your ears.
It's fun to watch Tanner absolutely wreck a category because he's just That Good™, but the sheer amount of dedication, heartbreak, and glorious glorious victory in this run make it even better. Awesome job!
they say that the two invalid min caps runs are what made lycel's hair peepoLeave
Sadge balding at 20
Lycel, you (or whoever edits for you) did an *outstanding job* editing this. And your script was so endearing while also being really informative. Make more of this style of video.
Sad that it took three runs to get it recognised, but good job!!!
I didn't realise the magnitude of this accomplishment until I heard "for many months I tried and failed" cause for some reason my dumb brain thought this was something that would take weeks at most lmao
With that aside, this is a beautiful story of dedication! I started to cry at multiple moments of triumph during this video but I'm sitting in McDonald's so I had to hold them back lol definitely earned my sub! Definitely gonna check out more of your content:)
"How an Amateur got a world record"
She practiced a lot
Did you expect some voodoo magic or something?
I don't know what part of this means the most to _you,_ but to me the most important part isn't that you managed to nab that first 12 captures spot and hold a world record in a popular speed game. It's clearly the fact that you decided on this distant goal, this accomplishment that was far beyond your skill level at the time, and you just worked hard until you got there. And I mean you really got there, it wasn't just like you got the nut jump that one time and called it quits. You actually got to the point where you're that much better at the movement and the tricks.
It doesn't mean anything for someone like Tanner who already has insane skill and only has to attempt this trick for four hours and then pulls it off on the regular. He didn't really have to _try_ like you did. It's like the difference between the "smart" kid in the class who can just get an A by paying attention, and the kid who has to work super hard just to get a B. Not only is the B worth more than the A, that student got more out of the class than the other one did, and demonstrated a quality that will get them much, much farther in life than any kind of intelligence would. So that's why I say, even if you'd finally gotten your run, and you'd gone to the leaderboard and CJ and Tanner and RedSlay and every single one of your friends had already done it and you were in last place... it doesn't matter. You win.
This is the sweetest thing I've read. Thank you
Not to be "that" guy, but do you know why Tanner, CJ, 04dude and all the other speedrunners are so good at the game? They practised. A lot. Over and over again, until the could perform every trick frame perfect without missing a single cappy jump, dive or ground pound. Many speedrunners practise every day, even though it might not seem like it. Just because they aren't streaming doesn't have to mean they are not practising. They didn't just "get" the ability to make amazing speedruns, they played the game over and over again for thousands of hours, just for you to say that it doesn't matter.
What am I trying to say? Well, don't just judge people you don't know in reality with out real facts. #WhyHaveAllMarioOdysseySpeedrunnersTheSameProfilePicStyle?
@@ChirpoGuy I do, in fact, follow Tanner and CJ to some degree. I'm not implying that their skills don't matter, or that they didn't work hard for them. Really, all top-level speedrunners did have to grind for ridiculous amounts of time to attain their level of play, and my statements about Rachel applied to almost all of them at some point. When I say "it doesn't mean as much to them," I really just mean learning the routing and learning pokio skip and nut jump. Since that was all we saw of them here, I wanted to reinforce how much _more_ important _this_ particular achievement was for Rachel.
In particular, the reason I put this comment the way I did was that I was thinking of too many things to say that would come across as negative. My main thought was, "how did 12 caps in particular stay completely empty for so long?" Either Tanner or CJ seemed like they might have jumped in and run it ages ago just for the free first place, but nobody submitted a run for at least a year. I think they probably looked at Rachel working super hard to try and get a verified run, and then looked at each other, and said, "Nah, let's let her have this one." But I don't want to show up on her video about her long struggle to achieve this world record and say "well actually they just let you have it," because not only is that not very nice, it misses the point of how much work she did to get there. I spent some time thinking about exactly what that point was, and that's why I specifically said, "Even if you had been last place, the achievement would have been just as important and triumphant."
(#BecauseTheyAllKnowEachOtherAndModEachOthersTwitchChatsAndMakeEachOthersEmotesWhichAreThenUsedForProfilePictures )
@@ChirpoGuy Heya I'm Blaze! I'm a moderator and friend of Lycel's! No I'm not just saying that, I've known Lycel since before she even started streaming! I just quickly want to let you know you do have a valid point with the experience thing! Being honest I think people like CJ and Ant have a bit more talent for speedrunning, but they sure as hell have put in a ton of practice! Even more so than Lycel! To Lycel's defense she has practiced a ton to do this. As stated in the video and description, this legitimately took a year to do. I know, I watched it. She had practiced the same small frame window jump for a long ass time. Most of the practice runs were comprised of 20-30% run 70-80% nut jumping. She'd spend like 3-6 hours just practicing the jump over the course of MANY streams. She's put in a hell of a lot of practice too, on top of being a Uni student, emote artist (among other art pieces), and streaming a variety of other games and activities. So don't discredit her! This has been a long time come and I say she's 100% deserving of this massive W
What am I trying to say? Well don't just judge people you don't know in reality with out (that's a typo ;) ) real facts.
(Also Lycel is an artist and friends with a large portion of people in the SMO speedrunning community)
Yeah, well said you guys! but fr I'm dogshit. Like it's not just practice. As I say in the vid, when SmallAnt tried to get the nut jump for the first time specifically, he got it in 4 hours, whereas it took me about 8 months. There's a significant difference there in how long it takes us to get good, and smant is just a god gamer! But this comment was really nice, as even though I am actually awful at getting these sorts of speedrunning tricks, I persisted, and I think what the commenter meant was that my 1 year effort to get the nut was impressive in terms of perseverance, even though smant's 4 hour run was impressive in terms of talent.
This video has me so emotional, it's been insane seeing you grow and get better at this game. Also, Calli continues to outdo himself with the editing and it's just so good, I'm so proud of him, this is some Summoning Salt level content 100000/10
"Australians are British Texans" made me laugh out loud. 😅 Congrats on the WR! 👍😎👍
this video will become popular for SURE. I only watch smallant1 and this video showed up, hope you get blessed by the youtube algorithm
Edit: I was right :D
same actually, ive never seen a single one of this persons videos before and it was in my recommended
There is no 1 it died
Yeah same
I got this recommended to me and I barely watch odyssey runs.
I only watch racing games...
I love this wave of post commentary 'speedrunning'/'speedrunning history' that has been taking off recently
I remember the first bingo you did with Smant and CJ.
You have progressed so far so fast, congratulations !
Congrats on the World Record! and as they say "third time is the charm"... I would be heartbroken if my runs weren't valid because of something stupid like that but I'm happy that you pushed on and even managed to lower your time!
I haven’t watched many of your livestreams recently but I’m so happy to see you got a world record, keep up the great work!
Congrats! Must have been heartbreaking to lose the WR to technicalities twice.
This kind of stuff is always way more impressive if it comes from someone who has just average skills but puts so much time in it until they have above average skills no matter how long this specific skill takes to develop to then pull this kind of stuff off.
Absolutely amazing and I salute anyone who just dedicates themselves like that.
That was a fantastic video. I almost never catch your livestreams so to see what you've been up to in the last year in this well spoken and amazingly edited video format was very welcome surprise. Would love to see more like this from you.
Just the level of chill that you have with your speedruns, is just absolutely worth a sub.
CONGRATS LYCEL WE ARE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU IMPROVE!!!
What an incredible journey, what an amazing level of dedication and improvement - you did it, you frickin did it!
I wasn't expecting the WR holder was gonna make this video. This is the hardest flex out there 🔥🔥🔥
I remember when this video first came out. You’ve progressed so far since then!
This saga started when I began watching you so its such a crazy feeling seeing you finally achieve it
This is so cool! I naturally suck at speedrunning as well and figured it’d never be possible for me (my chosen game is super mario sunshine; I just think it’s so much fun). Maybe I’ll try!
If you decide to start, good luck!
@@pikraken Thank you!
This is crazy. I had noticed the gap in min caps records as well and thought, “Hmm... maybe I could snag a record.” Then I ran 13 caps a few times and liked it, but nut jump turned me away from it. Good job sticking with it.
you did a great job bud, so proud of you as always
That was awesome! Couldn't be more proud of you. :) And thanks for making your streams a safe place for folks like me.
I like how your minimum captures run is faster than your any% run
This video made me so happy. Congrats Lycel! I found this chanel cause you play stuff with smant and the hide and seek stuff. You're awesome! I hope your channel gets as big as theirs! Also the "you can literally watch my hair grow in real time" bit was hilarious! Great work!
Yo! Let's go!! You deserve it after all of that effort! 💗
Plus you'll get the pleasure of being the first to do it, even if others do improve the record
just found your channel and I love your content! I was able to catch one of your streams and loved the experience and am now going to common chat member.
There's something really unique about these runs that are so hard that surprisingly few people have even tried them
I am honestly amazed at your progress and your ability to handle a nut.
Very well put together - extremely impressed with the work put into your 12 min-cap WR! Earned a new fan today.
I absolutely ADORED this video. The heartbreak and frustration in your face was so hard to watch, but the sheer joy when you got it was so wonderful. I don't speedrun, but the pressure of seeing your friends getting things much easier than you is the absolute worst. I'm so happy for you to have gotten it! (Oh, also, all the KI:U music was great :) )
Very well deserved! Congrats! You worked so hard and improved so much!
Brilliant video!! You have done Australia proud
First video after following a while on Twitch, watching the experience was breathtaking and how committed to the runs you were was awe inspiring, you deserve that record!
This is lowkey one of the best videos out there. Everything is done so well. Your motivation also is very inspiring.
Also how does this only have 130k views??????? Its actually very very good! Wish u good Luck with your Channel ❤
Great video, and congrats on the WR! Would love to see more content like this
Also, I love all the Lycel emotes used in the editing, they make this already great video so much better!
Not only the World Record holder in 12 captures, but also the slowest valid run!
Just found your channel reccomended from SmallAnt, big fan already excited to go and binge watch previous content : )
Like, legit awesome job! You may have WR for min-cap, but you've captured all of our hearts!
That was an amazing amount of effort that went into this video and the record. Great work!
This is awesome. Kudos for sticking it out! Great video
Great video. This channel has become part of the Odyssey challenge extended universe.
great vid lycel! The effort that went into this one shows, it's really well done!
I love that I saw this video after watching a bunch of the Hide and Seek videos - specifically the one where Lycel says “I can nut jump [to the Snow Kingdom painting] to get Smant and CJ. I’m the nut jump queen!”
It was really cool to have that moment of “don’t worry, past Lycel - you get so good at this trick!”
This is my first video I've watched from you but you've earned my sub! Great work
that ending was almost the most frustrating but you pulled it back haha well done congratulations that was an incredible journey!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i know i havent been active in ur community recently but im so happy now cuz the vid finally came out :D ~~I'm still a little sad i lost 50k channel points to the run tho qwq~~ Amazing vid tho, the style and everything was amazing! The script along with Calli's editing had me laughing multiple times.
Your face after the nut jump is the most wonderful expression of joy. So happy for you! This was an incredible journey
Congrats! Always loved catching you cjya smallant doing bingo great to see you progressing and taking the record!
so happy for you! Hope this video propels you into further stardom. I could never do that kind of stuff but watching people like you and smallant make me hopeful for a good speedrunning future.
This right here is 100k views material. Amazing job to Calli for the editing and ofc Lycel for the voiceover. Happy to be along for the ride, I never want to see a wet nut ever again!
What a fantastic video. Tells the story so well and oh the memories. I find that even to this day, whenever I hear the browser kingdom's theme, the first thing that comes to mind is that fateful day. Great job!!!!
Love to see some high quality speedrunning content from a female creator. I always find it a little alienating how male dominated the speedrun space is.
Well done! You deserve it! (and pretty cool video format too btw)
Oh my gosh this was heart-melting! I've always wanted to do something like this. This was a huge inspiration! Congratz :))
Omg good job.this is my first video of yours but I understand how difficult this is so I think you have earned a sub
This is so wholesome, I love it! Good on you for sticking to your goal and putting in the work to get it done! I love it!
GG. Incredible accomplishment. I don't think I'd ever have a good enough mindset to go through what you did. A whole year of dedication, well deserved world record.
Bit of Aussie representation in the speed running scene 🙌
This video is incredible! This is what speedrunning is really about. Amazing journeys!
This is such an amazing and heartwarming story. So much perseverance. Especially with those technical issues. Those are just killer. Amazing vid.
Great quality video!! 80k views and climbing congrats!
Congratulations on this accomplishment!
Min Caps has been close to my heart ever since SMO came out. Even on my first playthrough I tried to skip many jumps that "required" captures, because I found SMO's movement so enjoyable.
At some point I found out about min caps and since then I've been keeping up with the developments and casually trying out new tricks when they were discovered (I am absolutely terrible at the 2-player stuff tho).
I've never actually tried to actually learn the speedrun tho... I've never done any speedrun at all. But this video might just be what inspires me to finally go for it. I think I'm going to learn 13 caps.
Aw can’t believe I’ve only just seen your channel, this was awesome!
POG new Lycel upload
Good job on 15k Lycel
Yoooo! Congratulations! This is such a good story, and you deserve every bit of recognition!
This video got recommended to Mr by youtube, really enjoyed the style of this video. Congrats on the record Lycel, when you keep trying it will eventually pay off!
Congrats!!! Can't believe you finally did it! I am also now realizing how long it's been since I tuned into a stream, hopefully I'll catch you sometime soon :)
I started watching you when you had 17.5k subs. Love your content
Awesome. :)
Edit: Wow. The trolling of your internet and computer. Unbelievable.
And you still got the record legitimately. :)
Great video, great editing - awesome work for getting it in the end 💪
This was an amazing video, that is some determination after 8 months and 2 completed but invalid runs!
Yo this is amzimg. This just showed that you can do anything with enough determination. Great vid btw.
i personally think you should release videos condensing months of effort weekly or even daily!
but jokes aside, this is an incredible accomplishment! I'll probably tune into your streams, wherever they may take you!
Awesome video . Loved seeing the joy when you got it the first time
This was a very cool journey. From one gamer to another - grats on that WR.
i rly enjoyed this video and the ammount of work you put into this is admirable
Loved this video! Subscribed and following you on twitch now :D
When you get glasses, you know it gets serious.
Amazing video, you're sure to blow up!
this is so awesome! hella proud hon :3 great work ❤️
Good job Lycel, from one min caps runner to another, good job!
o7
Video was good, run was great! Liked, subbed, and commented for the algorithm.
Good luck in all your future endeavors.
Great video Lycel! I knew you from SmallAnt's streams but never knew you streamed this much, I wish I did.
Impressive, that game is quite complex when trying to complete it quickly.
The second you said no one else was in the category i thought 'this is dumb' but after watching the whole thing, that was a really cool video
Every category of speedrunning for every game starts at no one in it at first. If you haven't seen the TH-cam video explaining the first person to complete the All Gold Medals in Cooking Mama 2 speedrunning, you should. Not a lot of people try for that same record catagory, but the overall categories on the game exploded after that.
great video lycel! congrats on the WR! :)
Loved the video. I wish I was there to watch this journey with you on twitch.
