I was trained at the Sassoon Academy in Los Angeles 50 years ago! While I am no longer working, I wanted to learn how to do a stacked bob. I watched a tutorial from Sassoon as well as Sam Villa. They can't compete with your talent. Not even close. Thanks for all your wonderfully educational videos. You are amazing! Where is your salon? I'd love to have you cut and style my hair.
Hi Summer: I think you are a wonderful stylist with your patience & precision sectioning. I am very impressed by your consideration of the client- it is so important. All my life I have loved perfectly straight edges on the bottom of my hair, even tho it looks severe; like a buster brown or "dutch" haircut (except for straight across bangs!) I have had every haircut you can think of, including all lengths; & I still always go back to the weight line being as straight & severe as the bottom of a paint brush. It may seem strange, but I like that look, even on a bob. My mother had me get a pixie cut when I was a little kid, & it made me miserable. I kept having her get it trimmed for me to grow it out, & she tried her best, but we went to inexpensive places where they didn't know how to help me grow it out to one length. I am an older lady now w. fairly long hair, all one length, & I need a couple of inches cut off due to dead ends, & I would love a long (a little below the collar bone) lob, all one lenght @ the bottom rather than an A-line. The thing is, I would really like that "bump" in the back created by mild stacking or undercutting. I still don't know the difference between the two. The thing is, for myself, I really run for the hills when I see thinning shears, razors, or point cutting bc it takes away from that straight line-I also am really against "blending in" for that reason. I used to have a hairdresser who would do it the way I wanted & i got short bobs but she retired. Do you think it is feasable for me to get a hairdresser who would due a long lob(a lot of places have closed down forever, now, like a beauty school) & not use the methods that make me very uncomfortable (miserable) without me having to leave before cut began, or who would be so insistent on doing it their own way I would have to leave? I really am old enough & through experience do know what I want. Any advice on how to approach this problem would be most welcome!Thank you so much!
Thank you for you're sweet compliment and reaching out! I would schedule a consultation with a stylist at a few different salons in your area. Instagram is great for finding pictures of work! Consultations are great because it gives you time to sit with the stylist and really be able to explain what you are wanting without the pressure and anxiety of getting it cut immediately after, esp if you are not feeling it. It also gives the stylist time to understand better what you want and see your hair and explain to you as well what they can do to achieve the look you are wanting. I can understand where you are coming from with fear of seeing razors/thinning shears/and point cutting but I promise it can be done without compromising the hair or taking to much out! It does often need to be done, but it is scary to see if you have had a bad experience! This is where consultations are great because you get to discuss all your concerns and building a small relationship prior to actual cutting! I hope this helps, please reach out if you need anything else!
love the dry cutting and deep point cutting and how it truly causes some volume and fluff. This is really what I need. No one in my area can seem to do my hair right, and now I tried to do my own, but the back is hard to do. Have had the Bob and not the Lob. That would be great as do like to at times put it up, yet like style when loose. Thani you for all tutorials. You are truly amazing!
Doing this, highlights, and a toner today on a client....this video helped me sooo much and it's extremely easy to follow! Thank you very much for these tips.
This was perfect, I waited till the end, and you really answered all my questions. My friend asked for the exact same haircut, so I am just going to follow the video step by step. All the explanation was clear and precise, thank you so much for sharing this!
You are a wonder for sharing all this pro approach, and so is Gaby for sharing you with us. Every time I get my haircut for most of my years I came home and took out the scissors, especially after the first wash. During Covid I finally realized since I have to do follow up always, why don't I just try myself. It takes me 5 times as long but I can do it and actually get compliments Since I am retired I can take the time, but it really is hard to do it symmetrically and some of these tips will help and perhaps not take so long and so many trims to get it right. Thanx so much for your gracious and generous sharing. And dont keep saying if that makes sense because it all really is very logical and profession and of course it makes sense!!! Blessings.
I want your exact cut and style in this video… (not the mannequin’s, but yours). I’ve searched, but don’t see one on how you cut and style your own hair, if there is one, can you link it? I would like to show it to my stylist.
Split ends occur naturally from age, and general health or due to how the hair has been roughly treated using elastic tie bands or harsh brushing when wet etc. ( no going back , just cut them off) If you’re already using a hair stylist, surely they are already professional? Maybe I’ve read your comment wrong? This is exactly how I’d cut this haircut ( I’ve been a stylist/ teacher over 30 years now) Great video. I enjoyed your work.

@@jennamaryjenna well...I sat on a porch in New Mexico for 9 months and examined all of the split ends for hours on end, tearing them all apart. It's better now but I still need a haircut of some sort, I don't know...I kinda like it long even though it looks like shit lol Thank you for that, though, @jennamaryjenna
Hi Summer,I’m from Moncton N.B.I do enjoy watching u explain and cutting Layered hair.Wish down here they could cut my hair the way i would want them.Keep up the good work ur showing.🙌
redoing this again next week! my new fave style for my fine hair especially at the front! still makes me feel like i have the length but added style and movement.. love it! Also, its hard for me to watch you cut with your thumb right through the thumb ring! i groomed dogs for 15 years and just rested the tip of my thumb in the ring, even on 10" shears. The more thumb through the hole, the less control i felt! kudos for doing it this way haha. love your videos even though i'm terrible at cutting people's hair and avoid it at all cost, but fun to watch you work
😂 When I got my new shears I tried sooo hard to cut with my thumb resting but I just can't! It feels so weird to me, I do it here and there depending the cut but I'm so used to how I normally hold them. Thank you for watching the channel ❤
Thank you for this video I am new to your channel, I found you as I have fine hair and wanted some product recommendations and styling ideas. Is this style good for fine hair?
This is a GREAT cut for fine hair! @glamgirlgabi and I have a video coming out on Tues listing our favorite cuts for fine hair! Be sure to look for it!
Very easy to watch and learn videos. Thank You so much. I was looking for a video on the inverted bob haircut but didn't see any except for the lob. Do you have a video on that haircut? Thanks!
Hi Summer, your techniques and teaching methods are really informative and helpful, I want to do this haircut to my daughter, she has very very thick hair, does this haircut look good on her? Also if possible please make a video on how to use thinning shears, thank you.
Ohhhh I do LOVE it….I’ve never heard of a lob, this is exactly what I want….thank you for Summer for sharing! Only wish I could get YOU to cut me a lob….😊❤️
Very cute haircut. Would this look good on curly hair? I have curly fine hair. I need a strong perimeter. I don't think I'll do the thinning shears or the texturing. I need the bulk.
I wanted this style from my recent haircut and didn't get it but now I know how it should be done. How can I fix the back of the hair flip out? Also, can you please share what to ask for I want your haircut? Thank you!
Hi, I love the video and you've done a great job explaining this. However when I've tried this on my daughter, it seems like it's longer underneath and looks odd. I haven't styled it properly yet but if it's still like it after styling could you tell me how this can be corrected? Sides look good just that back bit? I'm thinking maybe I didn't have her head down enough and she's a very fidgety child so maybe that. But other than an undercut, which I'm not to sure she'd be happy with I'm a little clueless. I am not a professional in the slightest. 😜
Thank you so much for this work, its amazing. You are helping very much to me, this is very good a practice for every single day. but unfortunately I got a straight line to the face, not an elongated one. I can't figure out what's the reason

This haircut is exactly what I've been looking for. I am going to share it with my stylist and hope we can get the same results. GREAT JOB!!!
