pretty much every episode of this show is really good
i wish they would have told us what KIND of ammunition they were using. yes they said 9mm vs .40, but what about the grain, the amount of powder, the advertised fps and what the actual fps was using a chronograph etc. All that is more important when comparing the effectiveness of two different calibers.
This isnt gerand thumb bro haha if he says “SEAL team” sidearm in conjunction with “sig sauer p226” on top of that “classic 9mm Parabellum round” you can assume they are referring to standard special forces Federal 9mm NATO which uses 124FMJ. You can easily go look up specs as it seems the show will assume ppl will go do that if they’d like. But keep in mind what you’re seeing on Gerand Thumb is SAMMI spec. NATO rounds for the military are akin to +P. When they have nato rated rounds I’m sure they’ll tell you. So federal 9mm NATO rated is 124 grain at 1260fps
@@CYMotorsport I don't think that a single NATO spec round was used in the making of this episode. It's a TV show. They are using generic range ammo.
@@CYMotorsportthe show did state the FPS was 1099, so that kind of rules out your 124 gn 9mm and is most likely 147 subsonic 9mm. 4.2 grains of CFE Pistol with a 147 grain projectile will give you that.
This appears to be an old show full of incorrect information and outdated information.
I wouldn't give a times worth about ANY conclusions reached here.

The most important difference isn't powder charge. It's what bullet technology or if it's ap ammo.
But the military generally only uses fmj
fyi that C96 they are using is a later model or spanish copy that has a detachable magazine. you can tell as they only loaded the dummy rounds with the stripper clip but rest of the time see them load it from under with the short 10 round mag. Still not bad video.
The Desert Eagle is the definition of a Hand Cannon.

Silenced .45ACP with high capacity magazine (13 or more). I think every military pistol should be Silenced, since you never know when you need to be quiet.
Silenced, doesn't mean silent ... When ever a round break 's ,the sound barrier ,Boom.
@grayrecluse7496 this is true. 9mm pistols with suppressors are contradictory in their efficacy. Because 9mm breaks the sound barrier it simply is not silent. There are 9mm subsonic munitions that are the best idea under these circumstances. HOWEVER! That is why I specifically stated .45 ACP caliber. They, by design, are subsonic. Either in pistols or submachine guns they are very quiet. Sometimes the sound of the bullet striking someone is louder than the actual firing!
I conceal a 5 inch 1911. I've never had anyone see it. I carry it in summer sometimes in a tee shirt and shorts. But i do carry a 9mm and a 3.5 inch 1911 also. Im an old man but i like red dot sights. I have 3 or 4 pistols with them on it.

2:50 technical error. The standard magazine capacity of the SiG P226 is not 13, it is 15. The standard P228 magazine is 13 (but will also accept larger magazines).

I like the Sig P226 9mm as my duty pistol for work. Before the Sig I carried a 1911A1 but the company I work for only wants 9mm or .40. I don't like the .40 so I chose the Sig P226 which I already owned.
Bullet technology selection is more important than caliber
@@jason200912 Yes bullet technology has come a long way. I have carried the Federal Hydrashok for a long time too. For my duty rounds I use Speer Gold Dot.

6:16 Glock 33 baby that's what I carry its small 10 rounds in the mag one in the pipe and it shoots that Sig 357 that has the same ballistic coefficient as a 357 Magnum all in a baby glock
Ballistic coefficient is kinda useless because at the range to take advantage of that you're only gonna get a small percentage of hit rates
*useless for conceal pistols, not useless for rifles
Glock 19 and 42. BUT now carrying the Ruger Security .380 the softest shooting and easiest slide rack. Love it.

Always remember a revolver will always go “bang.”
Not all the time, I had a Colt Trooper Mk IV when I was at the police academy back in the 70's. I bought it new and had used it only to learn how. to operate and carry while on duty as a cop. On the range one day in training, the trigger broke and locked the revolver with the hammer back about half with 3 live .357 mag cartridges in the revolver, having fired 3 rounds. The range officer could not get the gun open to unload, it went to a gunsmith on standby who unloaded it. I sent it back to Colt with a rather nasty letter, they returned it to me before I graduated the Academy repaired and with the slickest trigger I ever had on a revolver. I did carry that gun for a few years before going to a M1911A1 for a carry gun. When I pulled the pin in '93 I had an Astra A100 in .45ACP in my duty rig having carried and qualified with the old gal many times, again I purchased her new and still have her in the original box in my closet, unloaded of course, next to my M1911A1 and Taurus DA .22LR Revolver
Navy SEALs and Secret Service now use 9mm. Both Glock. I think the C96 also had 20 round capacity versions too.

Ah so many people even self proclaimed gun guys don’t know ish about handgun caliber ammo selection when it comes to power. And they just use whatever random ammo when testing them against each other and act like the results apply to every other 9mm/.45/.357 sig/.40 etc. when there are so many differences between each brand and type of bullet, even the same bullet can behave extremely different depending on barrel length.
9mm is as powerful as .45 in standard pressure. .45 is only sometimes more powerful in +p than 9mm is in +p, but its still not a significant difference. Also, people think .357 sig is more powerful than .40, which is generally somewhat true, but I have an Underwood ammo for .40 that has more energy than ANY .357 sig round, even from Underwood themselves, who make the most powerful factory ammo for any caliber. So .40 is more powerful than .357 sig, period, when the most powerful factory ammo available between .40 and .357 sig is .40, even if it’s only one load, it’s an extremely effective load. It’s the 135 grain .40 jhp from Underwood.
Even though .45 is not more powerful than 9mm, .45 +p makes a big difference where 9mm +p does not make a huge difference. There IS a noticeable difference, but no more than 100 foot pounds. .45 in +p can DOUBLE the energy, and put it into properly loaded .40 (Underwood) or .357 sig territory.

I thought the IDF used the Desert Eagle at road blocks to disable the engine blocks of vehicles attempting to charge the barrier or attempt a suicide attack. Has anyone else heard this and do you know if it's true or not??
Oh Winston Churchill owned a Mauser 1896 too, he carried one as a young cavalry officer in combat in the Sudan until finally captured by the Boers in South Africa. The Chinese called them the Box Cannon which thousands were used and copied by the Chinese.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a leash on a pistol. With that said, to each their own. If you can use it I guess it doesn’t matter does it?
The 1911 has one I have one from World War Two that’s got the lanyard loop still a lot of them had it cut off keeps you from losing your pistol if you have to drop or get behind cover quick

Lanyard is used during water borne ops. Would kinda suck if you dropped your sidearm overboard.

Typical American BS. OSS were the forerunners of Spec Ops? Nope! Ever heard of the SAS or SOE? Both active years before OSS was founded. OSS was based on SOE. And even the Rangers was based on the earlier British Commandos who were raiding in Europe before the US entered the war.
Nobody forced you to watch it. Don't like it, don't watch. You Tube, and internet as a whole, are vast.
