Been riding this bike for about two month now and I have to say that I have been really satisfied with it. I've clocked around 5k mileage so far and haven't had and serious problems. As of top speed I can hit 150 km/h plus (stock). Was really going for r25 but an Indo made at that price vs a Malaysian ckd and extras like pirellis , abs and slipper clutch was a no-brainer to me. Try dropping down a few gears entering a corner and all will be over. And for the record the abs did its job saving me.
hey, I've clocked mine at 2k milage, fairly low I know >< but I managed to get a top speed at 155kmh and that's it. flat out. the gear ratio on lower gears are at least acceptable imo, it's like I just freaking twisted the throttle slightly and I'll have to switch gear because well rev limit. Bums hurts after an hour ride, radiator fan bit loud but overall bike performs is incredible. In conclude, LOVE IT!
Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to try the other bikes mentioned, but the suspension package appears to be better for it's class, top speed wise I think the Honda might still be faster.
I just notice this bike because all of the time,I have been seeing the Rc390 which I am like "well I can't ride that"....only until recently I saw the Rc250..........Man!!!!Thank GOD!!!!!!!! So,here's the questions... 1.is that 147kg refers to full fuel tank capacity? 2.Is this bike better than the R25?and also the up coming CBR250RR 2016 ...I am deciding for my first starter bike,was riding a 125z Thank you.
Duke is suitable for city ride bcs of its upright position.. RC is a entry lvl sport bike n the riding position is a bit leaning fwd best for the high speed travelling
ktm 250 are the only 250cc motorcycle that give you a pirelli diablo rosso 2..another 250cc motorcycle like yamaha r25 and cbr 250 give you a freaking IRC tyre...

About tires...that comes with RC( in my concern; rc200 and 250).actually i am now in dilemma which one to choose to buy, 200 or 250(as its within my budget range and also iam B2 license only) So im going to place a purchase soon the nexweek or so,but i still havent had any oportunity to try ride on RC yet😥😥(wonder where/or to whom will allow me to test it?)...but few days back,ive watched several youtube vids about rc200/250 crashed. . . .and its suddenly freak me out😲😱.(in that case the vids is mainly at India,Viet,Thai or so..) so its make me think again, is it because of tires?brand?compound?or its rider riding/lean posture during cornering(in malay says: "meleper"😂)is wrong? -indeed in this very video of your review,ive seen you are doing a correct leaning posture as ive know and learned....some people that crashed,they usually throw their butt out to the seat sides to lean inward,which is wrong for this specific RC. Isnt the correct way is to lean our chest and together pointing our face inward thru the targetting cornering line?( raceline:as said in racing phylosophy) And the main concern is still..which tires is safe to do lean cornering? Which brand/model? what type of exhaust system? when its goes top the sound kinda annoying almost like blade gtr. So this bike not mean to be fast but to look cool I guess? im not complaining but asking to learn more because I want to own 250 bike but still cannot decide yet which is better in performances and style
The stock exhaust does not give it a nice tone, changing the exhaust would give it a nicer tone. Plus this is a single piston engine, don't expect it to sound like an inline four engine motorcycle either. Many choices and styles on the market, up to you to pick and see your budget.
I think the RC250 would have the upper hand in performance and handling, but the 250SL maybe has the lower parts cost. I like the RC looks (except the mirrors) but I would first hangout in RC owners group and survey for owner feedback on maintenance and parts before committing.
Finally 200 is going away lol. What about the gearing ratio, I heard that you have to change gears all too often on 200, is the situation any better on 250? One of m biggest gripes with Duke 390 is the gearing ratio, before you even reach 100KM you have to be in 5th gear, which is a big bummer, so does the new clutch improves situation or not?
The gearing ratio still feels short, but I suspect it's the engine hitting the rev limit fast that's resulting in quicker gear changes. The slipper clutch feature is nice on the down shifts, lessens the "surge" feel when you're dropping the gears quickly.

this ktm250 is quite good...if you feel the gear to short you can set in at the meter..so the for rpm will cut off and you get more distance for lower gear...i already try it...my 250 rc on gear 5 can reach 150...try to asking somebody that know hot setting the cut off rpm...after that you will love your ride and didnt have problem with the rave

The old but gold one would be the Ninja 250R since it's been around for a long time. R25 is a newcomer into the category, not much info on it, but appears to have a stronger performance than the Ninja. For the RC250, it's also new in terms that it is a downgraded version of the RC390 in terms of the engine CC. Dealers could give an insight which they recommend although some might be more interested to make the sale as the top priority, so you still need to to do your own extra research, thru owner groups and forums. If they claim the bike has issues, find out more, exactly what are the issues, and what is the manufacturer doing about it, covered by warranty, etc. Personally the R25 looks is looking quite nice and I would check that one a bit more.

Hello, I cannot comment about people crashing, as crashes could be due to many factors either not properly maintained bike, rider error, bad road condition, etc, it is just too many possibility, but to say the bike has a fault that causes crash, I think if it was true the manufacturer would have made recall. To be honest, I am not fully able to answer your questions as I only had the bike for a very limited time to try, so my suggestion is to join into the RC250 owner groups to learn more about the bike and any known issues it may have. For tires, the stock Pirelli should be a good tire, but there are always different makes and models, the preferences is yours to make, some may like tire A but some may feel more confident on tire B so you need to maybe trial and error. As for tire size, you can usually upsize by 10 from the stock, i.e. if the stock is 150, then going 160 is alright. But going too large has it's drawback, you can refer to the Tech-Talk series on tires to understand more. Putting a big tire just to look cool is probably the most useless thing a rider can do for the bike. Good luck and happy shopping!
I think it should support the weight, have not heard of cases of rear section braking due to pillion weight. You can check further with your local KTM dealer to be sure.

Last time (quite a long time ago) I heard that the Blade 250R had a lot of issues, but I do not know the current status as it was a long time ago, maybe the issues have been fixed. The Ninja 250R has been around for quite some time, so it is safe to assume it is reliable and less of known issues. The RC250 is a new bike on the market, I didn't have any issues while riding it, but I would suggest checking out owner group/forum for any known issues. Happy shopping, RSSR!
You're buying the old model or the new one? Depending how long your legs are, might feel a bit cramped with the foot pegs when on the bike, can get some adjustable ones to give you more room..

@@Gosick02 I can't recall the seat heights for both of the bikes right now (you can Google them) but I think they might be quite similar. I recommend for you to try test riding or at least sitting on one to get a feel for it. The Ninja 250 is parallel twin so it would be a bit less vibration than the single of the RC.
bro,I don't think they gonna launch it in india unless they completely banished rc200 4m market..and there is also a possibility that it might won't business well in the market, coz the price difference btw rc200 & 390 is around 30000- 40000,so it can b asummed that rc250 gonna priced around the middle of these 2...so why would someone gonna interested 2 buy it instead of buying rc390 for paying extra k bucks!!! let's hope 4 the best...
Yes the price difference is not really that much but over here to ride the 390 you need a different class license than a motorcycle below 250, so there will still be some that will be interested to just get a 250 without the hassle of upgrading their license class. The 200 has been discontinued here (Malaysia) already.
Personally I would say 390 since it has more speed and acceleration but based on the price difference and package offered for the 250 I would not mind having fun on the 250 and save the money for mods. :)
Better consider an adventure/sportstourer bike for long distance. RC is best for doing lap times or short commutes. -9.5 liter fuel tank (high consumption for such a puny tank) -killer seats -extremely aggressive riding posture Im not saying its impossible to tour this bike but the RC series is a very demanding bike both physically and mentally. You must commit to her and know what you're getting yourself into.
The Blade has that bigger bike feel to it, but it is significantly heavier as well. Sounds quite badass. The RC250 has the more updated sharp look and feel, comes with slipper clutch. It's your choice.
I've not have a lot of experience or hear a lot about the Blade, I cannot comment much about it, not sure what's the price for it too, I think if it were down to these two I'd probably go with the KTM.
what i like about this bike is because of its design.. about the performance i think its not bad... but i think my size is not comfortable with this bike size... so goodbye rc250
To be honest I don't think so, the engine sounds the way it is, putting exhaust doesn't really change it's character.. The tone might be a bit better than the stock form.
It's a fun bike with nice torque, however the top end tends to be a little flat so can't cruise that fast on the highways. If you want to know more about maintenance or any potential issues, best to research through owner forum/group.
I didn't clock the time for 0-100, but I did do an acceleration test in the video, unfortunately the sunlight on the meter blocked the readout. It gets to 100 pretty quick though.
You mean the mileage of a full tank of fuel? I didn't manage to test it out for that, only had it to try for a few hours.. You'll need to ask KTM India about that, I don't have that information as well. Sorry!
Sorry I don't have that information, didn't have enough time on the bike to do a mileage test, but I estimation is it will be slightly more than the RC390.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to take it for a fuel tank of fuel to try out, but my estimation is that it would do roughly 200km per tank. The 200 should be phased out, so it's better to get either the 250 or 390. The later models should both have the slipper clutch so that's pretty cool. If you can afford it the 390 would be the nicer option, more power.

Does the slipper clutch helps on the process of switching gears? Will it feels like jerky like a moped or something else like that?
Slipper clutch makes down shifts smoother, no hard engine brake or lock-up when down shifting at higher RPMs.

I feel it's not heavy for it's size. You don't need to be strong to ride, with the right techniques you can handle it just fine.

With good tire comes shorter tire life, some people prefer a tire that lasts longer than a performance tire, depends on the ride requirement I guess.

How far is your commute? I don't see any issue for the RC250 to be used for commuting..
One way around 11 kilometers back and fourth 22 kilometers! I also think if raining , I wanna ask also if there is accessory like bags of the rc 250!

bro,I don't think they gonna launch it in india unless they completely banished rc200 4m market..and there is also a possibility that it might won't business well in the market, coz the price difference btw rc200 & 390 is around 30000- 40000,so it can b asummed that rc250 gonna priced around the middle of these 2...so why would someone gonna interested 2 buy it instead of buying rc390 for paying extra k bucks!!! let's hope 4 the best...
Yes the price difference is not really that much but over here to ride the 390 you need a different class license than a motorcycle below 250, so there will still be some that will be interested to just get a 250 without the hassle of upgrading their license class. The 200 has been discontinued here (Malaysia) already.

Personally I would say 390 since it has more speed and acceleration but based on the price difference and package offered for the 250 I would not mind having fun on the 250 and save the money for mods. :)

It has a pretty good performance for a single 250cc, and it is on-par with other single 250cc bikes for long distance..

Better consider an adventure/sportstourer bike for long distance. RC is best for doing lap times or short commutes.

Im not saying its impossible to tour this bike but the RC series is a very demanding bike both physically and mentally. You must commit to her and know what you're getting yourself into.

im confused to take this KTM or Naza Blade 250...
The Blade has that bigger bike feel to it, but it is significantly heavier as well. Sounds quite badass. The RC250 has the more updated sharp look and feel, comes with slipper clutch. It's your choice.

I've not have a lot of experience or hear a lot about the Blade, I cannot comment much about it, not sure what's the price for it too, I think if it were down to these two I'd probably go with the KTM.

It is a two seater, the rear is design to look like a cover but it is actually a seat. Pretty cool.

I only managed to get 144 km/h but ran out of road so I didn't get a true top speed reading.

Aftermarket exhaust can help with that. :)
To be honest I don't think so, the engine sounds the way it is, putting exhaust doesn't really change it's character.. The tone might be a bit better than the stock form.

No, it's a double seater, the rear seat is designed to look like it doesn't exist but the rear is actually foam and pillion can sit on it.

I didn't clock the time for 0-100, but I did do an acceleration test in the video, unfortunately the sunlight on the meter blocked the readout. It gets to 100 pretty quick though.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to take it for a fuel tank of fuel to try out, but my estimation is that it would do roughly 200km per tank. The 200 should be phased out, so it's better to get either the 250 or 390. The later models should both have the slipper clutch so that's pretty cool. If you can afford it the 390 would be the nicer option, more power.
