Warn free wheeling hubs a great bits of kit. The reason being, When off road in Wales on rocky lanes the unit is protected. If you have fairy free wheeling hubs fitted it is easy to smash the hub on the rocks braking them. where as if you have warn free wheeling hubs fitted it is very hard to brake them on rocks. I have used warn hubs on several Landy's over the past 20 years and never had any problems with rocks. But I have smashed two sets of fairy hubs on rocks.
Thanks for the video! What were your conclusions about the hubs? Cant listen to your feedback ano in t them while you were driving since it was so noisy.
Dear, thank you for the video and all advice. I have a 130 defender 2012 and I would like to use freewheels hub too. Have you some knowledge if it is possible ? Thank you for your feedback. Laurent Switzerland
Thanks for your reply. The information I would like is the diameter and height of the float in the carburetor (as mine is missing) and how is the throttle spring attached to the governor arm. The end is missing from my spring and the remaining spring has retreated inside the cup/spool. After watching your videos my engine is going to have to come apart to clean out the cooling system as you did. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Nice project, Phill. Warn is an American company. They also sell winches. I had a set of free wheel hubs on an old Jeep pickup once. They were supposed to help fuel mileage as well. I don't know that I ever drover mine far enough to really decide that.
Thanks, from what I've read it seems they don't do a lot for the short wheel base models, but the heavier long wheel base trucks can benefit from them. Only one way to find out - it does just "feel" better to drive.
What model Warn hubs are these? The only Warn locking hubs I've seen for Series Land Rovers are the Warn M11 model hubs, which are different than these.
I have the warn hubs on my 109, i mostly use them in free to use the low gear range without transmission wind up in 4x4. My 88 will get a set too for the same reasons :) It is a shame your gearbox videos are dark... I need to do one myself soon, do you have any tips to share? Cheers mare.
Useful aren't they, the 109 goes better in freewheel, not disgracing herself uphill. I haven't got any further with the gearbox project, will post videos when I do.
Another great video. Especially enjoy the stationary engine videos. My latest purchase is a Bernard W2. Are you able to give me a bit of advice? If so I could send you my e mail address.
Thanks very much. The Bernard's are cracking engines and always attract lots of attention at shows as they are still not seen in large numbers. There doesn't seem to be a private message feature on youtube anymore, I'm more than happy to try and answer your questions here if you like - rather than giving out your email address on a public webpage? Regards, Phill.

Do they make free spin hubs for a 1988 Range Rover classic?
