    If I’m not mistaken, you also get points based on how well you receive blows while still keeping composure. It takes a lot of mental and physical strength to shrug off blows and kicks from Maui Thai fighters. A really intense but beautiful form of martial arts. Easily one on my most favorite styles of fighting.

    • @andrebrandao3638
      @andrebrandao3638 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you get points for your composure, basically if you can take a punch without flinching and without walking backwards you’re still getting points.

  • @GeddyRC
    @GeddyRC 4 ปีที่แล้ว +181

    The fighters look a lot more relaxed than other types of fighting, and they seem to absorb more blows than trying to avoid getting hit. I don't know a thing about muay thai, and I'm not even sure how I got here, but I'm very intrigued.

    • @37H662
      @37H662 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Geddy V nah only these guys get hit like morons, defense and head movement is a big thing in muay thai.

    • @elsnowman123
      @elsnowman123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      @@37H662 Lol no its not. Muay Thai fighters usually just step back to dodge blows, but have nowhere near the fancy defense techniques of boxers. In muay thai the "lack" of defense is primarily to always be ready for offense. They block punches and kicks instead of dodging. Thats how it is in almost all muay thai fights. There have been a few muay thai fighters in UFC that also box and use boxing dodging techniques, but its not common in muay thai.

    • @37H662
      @37H662 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ElSnowman the greats do it. yes, its rare to see a fighter dip their head to dodge in muay thai but it happens. look at fighters like samart and lerdsila.

    • @omaralmeraya7222
      @omaralmeraya7222 3 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      It is not common in muay thai to try the fancy head movement of boxing because if you get your head low enough, you give the enemy a easier target for a kick of worse a knee to the face, so they just block and the head most of the time high.

    Muay Thai KB should be more popular than it is, and fighters should be paid more. Most Muay Thai matches are wars,some are one-sided beat downs, but one things for sure is that they're always entertaining💪💪👍👍👌

      outdatedmemer gamer It’s called practice. Get your technique and go slow. Build your power and speed as you train, don’t push it. Hit the heavy bag, shadow box. Just make it good work that will pay off.
