You are racing "smart" not tearing stuff up and waiting for your openings... Your education and experience are growing every event... I got faith in your ability...
Your runnin' with the OUTLAWS. That alone is a huge accomplishment. The outlaws use to run at the I-30 race way in benton ark. My uncle would take me when I was a kid. Back in the day Sammy Swindell, Steve Kinser. What a show!! They finally closed down the speedway after 66 years what a loss. Your doing real GOOD Tanner, Keep your chin up!!
Most of these outlaw guys have their little black book of notes, setups, what worked/what didn't. They have a full team of mechanics, who have been around the scene for a while, and know exactly what to do to set you up fast out of the gate. You have to build that book and take your time learning what works for you and the car with certain tracks, track surfaces, banking etc. At the end of the day it is called racing and not winning. You have to consistently hit the mark with setup, and have to be on your game each and every lap to reach the front. I look at RTJ in the late model world, and a few years back, he was getting top 10's, a win here and there, but now he has his notes, has his setups he likes, and is doing great consistently getting wins. You got this bud. Keep digging.
GO TANNER !!! Just know you got a lot of people pulling for you !!! Man I REALLY HOPE THEY GIVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE NEXT SEASON!!!!! No doubt in my mind you will be a force to be reckoned with 👍👍KEEP YOUR HEAD UP
Ran a USAC show at Lakeside in the early 80's. They had the track badly over watered. I think the show was supposed to start at 6:00 PM, but they had a grader stuck in the mud on the front straight. They worked and worked on the track. They had every vehicle available trying to iron the track in. The push truck guys had to leave the track for more fuel. They finally bladed off the top surface and we started hot laps at midnight. The fans actually stayed for the whole show.
Great meeting you after the race, Tanner! I know you were busy, but thank you for taking the time out to say hello and chat for about 15 seconds. Best of luck to you and Carli! You have MANY fans in Missouri! On a different subject, the World of Outlaws need to stop going to Lakeside. The best track in the Kansas City Metro is the new I-70 Motorsports park. Bigger, faster, nicer, and ran better. 29 cars at Lakeside is a pretty sad car count.
Tanner think about this. First, I am 66 years old. Watching WoO long as I can remember. Saw Donny Schatz (on TV) get his first A main win, 25 years ago. Racing against Steve Kinser. I see you get frustrated with yourself. Donny is still out there racing and I know you have beat him at least once. Point is that even guys racing 25 years ago still don't finish well. That's racing. You have already proven you can beat any one of them. What will slow you down a lot is dwelling on what you did wrong. Learn from your mistakes and you will get faster. Dwell on those "mistakes" and you will get slower. Guaranteed. Those are opportunities for learning, not mistakes. Love watching you race man, thank you.
Tanner, my young friend, Don't beat yourself up, remember these guys you are racing against have been at this level a lot longer than you have and you are going faster than a whole lot of them. Each lap you run against these guys is gaining you more experience than you can imagine right now. I sure hope Shark Racing keeps on in their car next year. God Bless and stay safe and I hope Carly is still getting some competition time too.🤩💯💥
Keep your head up kid. You are killing it. Dirt tracker daily posted a show about your average. Your killing it!! You can hang with these guys. It’s proven
Some days getting the car back to the trailer unscratched is a victory. You are doing a great job learning to be a mature journeyman sprint car racer. I know the speed will appear once you and Carly see a bit more of this world. Mr. Allen has to be thankful you bring him back an intact car most every time.
That might b the most single number 1 thing that is holding him in the back of the pack. I’m not saying go out and crash the car every night but I’ve seen the best racers put their car ten foot up in the fence and over and over flips. If your number 1 thing is intact car then your not going to go in all out your starting with a big handicap if that’s the goal.u won’t never get the front if u don’t fight for it
@@randywilson6869 Bobby told Tanner from the beginning that He doesn't want Tanner trying to Impress Him by going Wide Open Crazy from the start and flipping His Racecars. It's quite a few episodes back now but that's coming from the Boss. Remember this is a Family owned business not a XXX House car operation with unlimited funds. I do however agree with you when you stated you gotta push it to stay up with the guys like Gravel, Sweet, Bayston, etc...
Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) my friend. Your racing the best competition there is. Gonna be nights not go so well. Hey I remember your car owner Bobby Allen flipping two different times at an All Star show at Kokomo.
Ya this was difficult. This was probably the first time where I could tell that you were spinning your tires more than going somewhere. I too agree that would be a first time to see the cars have to come out on old tires to "unslimey" a track after some prep work before an A main. I guess there still in a first time for everything haha. Wow 5 or6 nights left it's kinda crazy to think about that. It makes me wonder what y'all will be doing next. Only one way to find that out. Anyways thanks for sharing this video Tanner may y'all have a good one. Have fun take care
Dont be discouraged by your performance or by any of these damn ney sayers.your doing a great job. If Bobby's is not complaining, then keep doing what you are doing. You dont need to wad cars up to be successful. The big issue is you bring them back in one piece on the power of the motor, not a wrecker. If i had any advice, it would be to start digging a little bit harder on the initial start and shadow your opponent before you overtake them, and dont show your hand too soon. Well, im not the driver, and you are, so you obviously know what needs to be done. You came to PA and passed some of the best cars in the country with no problem on one of the fastest 1/2 miles on the east coast. Take that confidence and applu it everywhere you go and you'll be fine. Remember you got this ride because you have a lot of talent and desire to win, and obviously Bobby Allen thinks so as well, or you would have been replaced. You have the personality that draws fans and sponsors to a team, and that's hard to deny. You have outperformed your team mated on a couple of occasions so far since you joined the team, and that proves that you can get it done. Sponsors can see that, and that speaks in volumes. Drawing attention of sponsor leads to sponsorship opportunities, and that leads to more revenue for your team, as you already know. Draw a few sponsors in and keep up the sales of your merchandise along with your increasing fan base, and you have a substantial reason to stay with shark . More sponsors means more money for the whole organization, and that translates to even better equipment for the team. I really hope Shark keeps you on board because it would be a win-win for everyone involved with this organization 👍. Keep up the good work and always remember, elbows up and hammer down. Go get'em Tanner. Know mat what anybody says. You got this. BTW it's great to see Carly going on this adventure with you. 1T for rookie of the year.
Tanner im not trying to be disrespectful to shark racing because i know they have given you an incredible opportunity but with you in their car i can guarantee the publicity the merchandise sales you have brought to the table out weighs what they had going in their operation before you got that ride. Dont sell yourself short yes your not getting the results you want yet but the other things you bring to the table is crazy . so i bet both sides are very happy. You being the driver and bobby allen the buisness man.
The top 10 in an outlaw A main are 10 of the fastest guys in the world in these cars and I think you let yourself forget that. Don't beat yourself up at all man keep digging
Hey, at least you got to race buddy! You can see your qualifying lap just doesn't build any speed from mid corner off. If you are spinning, you aren't going anywhere. Don't feel bad though. Schatz has been struggling all year as well. Probably something in the new tires you haven't quite hit on this season. Maybe you can tune up the shocks for a one lap max grip, max wing downforce, and try something different with air pressure. I'd be curious to see what the tire data shows for what you are running.
Be patient. The knowledge your obtaining is priceless. Your day on the WoO podium will come.. Stay Safe. It was good to see and talk to again. See you at the Chili Bowl.
Depending on the track and lap time but at a guess (im in NZ so we use Kph) I'd say around 140 -150mph. Bristol was upwards of 160 with the high banking
As you mentioned about going in low, could see it bobble and near the end you were screaming around the top, it looked like you had to back it up a couple of times. Your team mate wasn't pulling on you that much. Believe even the best were struggling. Too much moisture in the track, hard to find consistency when so much of the surface is unexplainable, came and went. It would be like pockets of soft and then hook. Little advantage if any for all of those racing. Talk to the others & see if they'll share their insights. Ya had a good, solid run.
It looks like the team can't get that car to work on a regular basis. Maybe there is not the best connection between the crew and you. It is clear the car is not comfortable for you. What is it you want? The car can feel like a kart if that is what makes you fast, if you are fast comfort is not as important. What ever it is you think you need get it and see if it works. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
There is a caterpillar on your upper lip maybe causing a distraction…..seriously dude, look at your overall stats in this series so far and look how many times you’ve passed, beat some of the best of the best in the sport. You’re doing great. All the guys that think you should be wadding up cars to show your metal aren the people paying the tab for this stuff. I’m sure your team owner appreciates your level head not costing him much more than he can earn. Teddy Roosevelt gave the man in the arena speech about the credit belonging to the man who it’s actually in the battle, fighting, striving, and knowing both victory and defeat…and the fact there will always be critics outside the arena. Remember to find the joy of this great opportunity , have a blast and not let trash talkers and self pressure win the battle in the arena.
I know I'm late but I was on hillside on turn two and I got to say this was a hella disappointing with how they tore up the track to much and just overall a disappointing race
Not sure what has happened to shark racing since the Eldora million race. But it seems like both teams have been non existent since. I can't help but think that you may more consistent and successful in the 18t. I am not trying to slam Bobby and his teams but something is amiss clearly and I don't think that it is the fault of any of the drivers for what my opinion is worth.
The Outlaw season will chew you up. I don't know how the crews do it. Drivers have the ability hit the switch and turn tonight off and start fresh tomorrow. For the crews, it sure seems like the days must blend together with no separation from one day to the next. With this weekend marking the last time the Outlaws will race at Devils Bowl where it all began in March of 1978, a tip of the cap to all the road guys who have crisscrossed this country bringing the best sprint car shows to the fans all these years.
