When facing uncertain choices like this it's always rational to save most number of lives you can save today. Because when you don't have the luxury of time and sufficient intel then any choice could end badly. Maybe one of the people they saved is a better engineer/scientist than Raven(obviously that's never the case) but it is possible. Similarly, it is also possible that tomorrow someone could set Arkedia to fire, in which case procuring the hydro generator will be a pointless waste of effort and lives. Not talking about spoilers but saying in general that hydro generator could be used as an explosive it is only a matter of time that someone would end up blowing it up. Save as many lives as you can today because people are intelligent resources, they can come up with brilliant solutions when facing extinction.

since this was recent I wanted to let you guys know, when the city of light was destroyed, ALL of the pain these people have ever felt in their lives/the ability to feel pain rushes back to them. That's why raven was able to shake it off at first, she noticed that an integral moment in her life that at even a tiny level, contributed towards her character, was gone from her mind, which now that I think of it is even cooler because it raises the discussion of the 'self' and how our decisions/memories define us.

We saw only 5 guards but we know there was more. 5he few who took them, the ones spotted on the binoculars, and the chief with probably a few people near him. They was out numbered and know they were going to be moved at a random time tomorrow. Blowing up the hydro thing wasn't smart but did save their friends and avenged the deaths of everyone who died there including montis dad
I agree with Marketa, that (so far) every season had at least one plotpoint or plotline, that was frustratingly stupid, besides all the great stuff about the show. But in this case, I can suspend my disbelief enough to make it work in my mind. The "nuclear cloud" is at this moment still a very abstract problem, which might become critical in the future 6 months away but not today. A bit like climate change in our days. So far these "teenagers" always found yet another solution. So for me it is believable that they convince themselfs, that right here and now, they can't sacrifice the prisoners. I can accept, that in the heat of the moment, they can't think of a plan c which doesn't involve blowing the generator up (for example another kind of attack or leaving a scout behind, who follows the prisoners when they are moved). I think, the message should communicate, that they have to act now or never because tomorrow the prisoners are gone (moved into the heart of asgeda territory out of reach). Also, they got spotted right away when they arrived even though they tried to keep a low profile. Because of that it might be hard to believe, that they can follow them unnoticed, when the prisoners get moved and "ambush them later". So yeah, blowing the generator up is kinda dumb and mainly there to raise the stakes and showcase, that there will be no "easy" solution. But in this case I'm still fine with the descision of the authors to go that route.
I'm confident there was an entire storyline that got dropped at some point in the writing process. Maybe when they realized they were only getting 13 episodes and not 16. There's no logic for him being so important now and then being focused on only one more time

I really just need to break this whole situation down. There were only two options. The extra options they suggest were clearly not going to work. They couldn't fight them with the group they had. They were outnumbered, and it was clear that we didn't see everyone who was there. The bomb blew up on both sides of the station. It was a huge explosion that took out more than 5 people. They were not holding 25 slaves with some chains and 5 soldiers. Fighting without the bomb is out. As for tracking them, none of them have any tracking skills. So they'd literally have to stalk the group within visible range, which would have been difficult. They probably only brought enough food for their day trip, so they wouldn't have rations for an extended tracking mission. They also probably aren't prepared for sleeping in the snow overnight, so the tracker would probably freeze to death. On top of that, how would the other Skaikru members find this tracker? Would he be radioing them while 50 feet from the grounders? Would he have to keep track of exactly how many steps he took and in what direction? Or would he just leave the extra bread crumbs he brought to make a trail? So obviously tracking won't work. The only other option is to go back to camp and send another group after them, wasting men for what is, as they said, the most important thing right now: making alpha station livable. And there would be no guarantee that they would find those slaves if they left. The idea that they could carry the hydro generator and use it as a bomb later is laughable. So there were two options. Whichever choice you want to make is understandable, but there's no saving both the generator and the slaves. But most people in the discussion choose that, and laughed at the logic of the characters. None of their suggestions made much logical sense, but they believe they were outsmarting the writers. This isn't one of the DC shows (that I still enjoy) where you can have your cake and eat it too. You can't do both good things. You have to make a choice, which is the thing about this show that I love the most. Is this their most perfectly executed choice? No, but it's clear that a choice has to be made, and you can't argue against the characters by making third options that don't make sense upon a little bit of thought

Another thing that irritates me about some of them (not all) is how they shit on a character so hard (i.e. Clarke) but then they'll try to justified another character's actions (i.e. Pike). What a lot of them have a hard time understanding is that this show doesn't pull any punches when it comes their characters. Every character is flawed and is going to make mistake because generally non of these situations are simple or cut-and-dry. It's about morality, choosing the "lesser of the two evils" and consequences. And then you tack on family, friendships and love and every thing is way more complicated. But some of the group members talk as if all of these decisions and situations are easy and they could easily figure it out themselves.

It's literally the theme of this episode. "We make the best decision we can with the information we have, and hope there's a forgiving god." Everyone in this show has to decide for themselves which bad option they can live with. I'm not saying Bellamy is 100% right. I'm saying that they all had valid points and reasoning in this argument. But instead of talking about that, the group just suggests things that clearly won't work.

Marketa, me and the rest of the fandom agree with you. All I can say is welcome to Bellamy's decision making issues. He still has these problems even in season 5. Bellamy still doesn't get it, he is far too emotional in his decision making and that created the whole situation in season 3, it's going to take time for him to get it. His whole journey this season is him finally getting it. He overcorrects, takes Kane's "do better today than you did yesterday" advice too literally and causes more problems for everyone with his lack of foresight. Yeah, it's frustrating, but it is absolutely in character as he has never really been able (and never really is able) to fully commit to seeing the bigger picture. He still doesn't quite get why what he did in season 3 was wrong. He goes on a pretty harrowing journey this season and it's gonna be a bit before he finally gets it. There are officially going to be only 7 seasons. There is also a prequel series in production.

Bruh, Clarke is literally the "emotional punching bag" of the entire crew. Two-faced thing is just an over the fence statement. Had Clarke not made those previous decisions, we wouldn't have anyone from the 100 group to watch coz' they'd be dead already. People put the hard decisions on Clarke consistently ASKING her 'what should we do?' 'what are we gonna do?' and when things messes up after she SAVES them, they blame her for almost everything. Also, her growing up in the ark with adults basically killing people to save the rest is what shaped her identity. But the difference is, she learned survival with "it's either them or us" mindset (e.g. mount weather people OR her people). So I don't think she deserves such excessive hate from that one person in the couch crew. Raven asked Clarke manpower, Clarke gave it. What else does she need? If recruiting people was that easy, then they should've been the one encouraging or telling the people themselves, INSTEAD of putting Clarke in that position. I know biased people like Marketa will defend everything she does, but I'm mostly curious for Suraj, Chris, Rana, and White Pat's reactions.
I love the show but i have to agree. That moral dilemma seemed kind of contrived and silly. I love the moral dilemmas in the show but that one was poorly executed. A for effort D for execution.
We saw only 5 guards but we know there was more. 5he few who took them, the ones spotted on the binoculars, and the chief with probably a few people near him. They was out numbered and know they were going to be moved at a random time tomorrow. Blowing up the hydro thing wasn't smart but did save their friends and avenged the deaths of everyone who died there including montis dad
I agree with Marketa, that (so far) every season had at least one plotpoint or plotline, that was frustratingly stupid, besides all the great stuff about the show. But in this case, I can suspend my disbelief enough to make it work in my mind. The "nuclear cloud" is at this moment still a very abstract problem, which might become critical in the future 6 months away but not today. A bit like climate change in our days. So far these "teenagers" always found yet another solution. So for me it is believable that they convince themselfs, that right here and now, they can't sacrifice the prisoners. I can accept, that in the heat of the moment, they can't think of a plan c which doesn't involve blowing the generator up (for example another kind of attack or leaving a scout behind, who follows the prisoners when they are moved). I think, the message should communicate, that they have to act now or never because tomorrow the prisoners are gone (moved into the heart of asgeda territory out of reach). Also, they got spotted right away when they arrived even though they tried to keep a low profile. Because of that it might be hard to believe, that they can follow them unnoticed, when the prisoners get moved and "ambush them later". So yeah, blowing the generator up is kinda dumb and mainly there to raise the stakes and showcase, that there will be no "easy" solution. But in this case I'm still fine with the descision of the authors to go that route.
Riley is the most useless character ever
I'm confident there was an entire storyline that got dropped at some point in the writing process. Maybe when they realized they were only getting 13 episodes and not 16. There's no logic for him being so important now and then being focused on only one more time

I'm sorry, but they should taken that Hydro generator. They let there compassion blind them from seeing the big picture. Now more folks are going to die than the ones they just saved(as usual).
I really just need to break this whole situation down. There were only two options. The extra options they suggest were clearly not going to work. They couldn't fight them with the group they had. They were outnumbered, and it was clear that we didn't see everyone who was there. The bomb blew up on both sides of the station. It was a huge explosion that took out more than 5 people. They were not holding 25 slaves with some chains and 5 soldiers. Fighting without the bomb is out. As for tracking them, none of them have any tracking skills. So they'd literally have to stalk the group within visible range, which would have been difficult. They probably only brought enough food for their day trip, so they wouldn't have rations for an extended tracking mission. They also probably aren't prepared for sleeping in the snow overnight, so the tracker would probably freeze to death. On top of that, how would the other Skaikru members find this tracker? Would he be radioing them while 50 feet from the grounders? Would he have to keep track of exactly how many steps he took and in what direction? Or would he just leave the extra bread crumbs he brought to make a trail? So obviously tracking won't work. The only other option is to go back to camp and send another group after them, wasting men for what is, as they said, the most important thing right now: making alpha station livable. And there would be no guarantee that they would find those slaves if they left. The idea that they could carry the hydro generator and use it as a bomb later is laughable.
So there were two options. Whichever choice you want to make is understandable, but there's no saving both the generator and the slaves. But most people in the discussion choose that, and laughed at the logic of the characters. None of their suggestions made much logical sense, but they believe they were outsmarting the writers. This isn't one of the DC shows (that I still enjoy) where you can have your cake and eat it too. You can't do both good things. You have to make a choice, which is the thing about this show that I love the most. Is this their most perfectly executed choice? No, but it's clear that a choice has to be made, and you can't argue against the characters by making third options that don't make sense upon a little bit of thought

They are just constantly incapable of putting themselves in the situations that characters find themselves in. They just mock them, call the characters or the writing stupid, and then use information that they have that the characters don't to make up flimsy new options that make them feel clever
@@mlgnerd13 I absolutely agree with everything you said. I was just so glad to see that someone broke down that situation for them. Another thing that irritates me about some of them (not all) is how they shit on a character so hard (i.e. Clarke) but then they'll try to justified another character's actions (i.e. Pike). What a lot of them have a hard time understanding is that this show doesn't pull any punches when it comes their characters. Every character is flawed and is going to make mistake because generally non of these situations are simple or cut-and-dry. It's about morality, choosing the "lesser of the two evils" and consequences. And then you tack on family, friendships and love and every thing is way more complicated. But some of the group members talk as if all of these decisions and situations are easy and they could easily figure it out themselves.

Arkadia gets blown up anyway. That water generator was never going to save anyone. I know that they didn't know that yet, but that's exactly the point. It's literally the theme of this episode. "We make the best decision we can with the information we have, and hope there's a forgiving god." Everyone in this show has to decide for themselves which bad option they can live with. I'm not saying Bellamy is 100% right. I'm saying that they all had valid points and reasoning in this argument. But instead of talking about that, the group just suggests things that clearly won't work.

They all would have died in Praimfaya, and letting that little girl die was never something Bellamy was going to accept. And I doubt I could either. Marketa, me and the rest of the fandom agree with you. All I can say is welcome to Bellamy's decision making issues. He still has these problems even in season 5. Bellamy still doesn't get it, he is far too emotional in his decision making and that created the whole situation in season 3, it's going to take time for him to get it. His whole journey this season is him finally getting it. He overcorrects, takes Kane's "do better today than you did yesterday" advice too literally and causes more problems for everyone with his lack of foresight. Yeah, it's frustrating, but it is absolutely in character as he has never really been able (and never really is able) to fully commit to seeing the bigger picture. He still doesn't quite get why what he did in season 3 was wrong. He goes on a pretty harrowing journey this season and it's gonna be a bit before he finally gets it.
There are officially going to be only 7 seasons. There is also a prequel series in production.
What is the deal with prequels? They're never a good idea. We know they can't stop Allie from destroying the world. How about a brand new Sci Fi show with the same writers? Or literally anything else but a prequel.

Bruh, Clarke is literally the "emotional punching bag" of the entire crew. Two-faced thing is just an over the fence statement. Had Clarke not made those previous decisions, we wouldn't have anyone from the 100 group to watch coz' they'd be dead already.
People put the hard decisions on Clarke consistently ASKING her 'what should we do?' 'what are we gonna do?' and when things messes up after she SAVES them, they blame her for almost everything. Also, her growing up in the ark with adults basically killing people to save the rest is what shaped her identity. But the difference is, she learned survival with "it's either them or us" mindset (e.g. mount weather people OR her people). So I don't think she deserves such excessive hate from that one person in the couch crew.
Raven asked Clarke manpower, Clarke gave it. What else does she need? If recruiting people was that easy, then they should've been the one encouraging or telling the people themselves, INSTEAD of putting Clarke in that position. They always put her in that position just to have someone to blame.

They saved like 12 people and lost a machine that could have saved the other 400 of their people and one of the guys that they saved ended up killing him self along with jasper so they literally lost more people for no reason like it was so fucking stupid.

vHedaa xc jasper isn't useless. He's real. He wants to live his life. And throughout the season we see him try to help people rid of their sins and feel good before a presumable death. As said by one of the writers: Jasper's arc is to show the realistic side of human desire and want. He's being himself, and he's using what he knows to help other people understand their faults. His purpose this season is very important.
