      Yes, which is why many feel this is a companion-piece to CA: the Winter Soldier. This montage, paired with the Arnim Zola reveal, is all the more striking, since, as you've pointed out, real events are depicted in both scenes. I suspect there is INTENT by these creative choices. 🤔

      @@lelyguti2014 - There are events depicted, in this movie, with Dreykov superimposed on top of someone. There are flashes of Dreykov with Bill Clinton, Vladimir Putin, etc... (I've only seen the movie once, so those were the two that were most obvious, don't kill me, lol). Not sure what events they were; nothing in that flash montage stood out, but I'm sure the images were intended to say that Dreykov had his hands in many geo-political affairs, just showing how truly powerful he was.
      They did the same with Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes, showing him at pivotal scenes in human history, namely, American history. Zola showed Cap and Nat things like the assassination of JFK, intimating that the Winter Soldier was the one who took Kennedy out, not Lee Harvey Oswald, as history tells us.
      EDIT: I just slowed down the last 3rd of this video, to .25 speed. Additional players I caught were Jimmy Carter, 39th U.S. President; Boris Yeltsin, first and former Russian President; Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State under "W" (George "W" Bush). There was a Saudi leader at one point, but I couldn't tell who. As far as what "events" these were, I don't recognize any of the photos, and, without knowing who Dreykov was superimposed over, it's even harder to guess. But I'd be surprised if the images, the ORIGINAL images, weren't real. Condi looks like she's sitting in the White House, there. Just need/want to know who the "suit" was, next to her. 🤔

Not only was this title sequence perfectly executed on a technical level but it also managed to strike a cord emotionally as well. Oh my goodness, this scene was soo well done. I was so shocked and taken aback the first time I saw it; it felt so raw and haunting and _so_ unlike usual Marvel. I got goosebumps and felt like crying for some reason? It felt so real because in a lot of movies with “kids”, the actors usually aren’t really kids, and it doesn’t feel so horrible because it feels like you’re just watching adults, so seeing actual children was crazy

    It also isn't just a metaphor for sex trafficking- because Widows aren't just assassins, they are spies and they WERE trained to use sex as a weapon too. This opening is the best I've seen from the MCU, it fits Natasha's story very well and we clearly see that Cate Shortland knew what she was doing. Compared to many people, I loved the aspect the movie change into. It's like a family reunion and so the humor is well done.
    And also compared to many, many, many people, I kind of liked the Taskmaster reveal, I didn't find it disappointing cause they found a way to put it in a story about Natasha and it added one more dark regret to her.
    And the fact that it didn't seem like a Marvel movie was so cool. The humor was maybe the same, but I think the way cate Shortland directed it made it very different. This is now my favourite MCU movie, still.

    • @ryanjstannard
      @ryanjstannard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@GhostInPajamas Yes the original story was meaningful to a degree. The main story about Natasha and Yelena’s childhood being fake/Natasha leaving Yelena behind was sad, but the fact that they were kidnapped and brainwashed against their will is much more horrifying. I really think it could have been even more meaningful if they’d leaned into those darker story components. Especially, since young girls are actually taken against their will and trafficked in real life. They only really touched on that a couple of times in the movie, one of which being the brief opening segment. But I understand that Marvel can’t necessarily make a darker movie because they’re owned by Disney. Disney is all about the money, and obviously an R-rated Marvel movie limits the audience. It’s a shame that they care more about money than to make a contemporarily relevant story, but I guess that’s just business. Hopefully that changes one day.

    One of the most horrifying openings in Marvel history. They did a good job.

    I wish the rest of the movie showed us more of this: the origin story of Natasha Romanoff. What exactly she went through in the red room. I want more, dang it! I want more of her story 😕

    Pedazo de intro, me encanta como transmite una gran variedad de sentimientos y emociones como oscuridad, tristeza, escalofríos. La canción y esa cover en específico le quedó como anillo al dedo y el montaje de fondo con las caricaturas y políticos y demás es simplemente brutal. Tiene sus defectos pero Black Widow es de las mejores películas de Marvel y esta intro es la mejor del MCU, ahora mismo no se me viene otra a la mente de este nivel
