Wow....this is so moving. The stories of the Exodus as progress/movement and Jesus as grace/love and how these have shaped Brooks make so much sense. Also love how he embraces doubts and humility and a sacred depth to the spiritual life.

The socially unattached is unremembered.....this is the call to the Christian community to look beyond the definitions and embrace EVERYONE.

For anyone who has read his book, does Brooks mention in it how from experiences that seemed transcendent to him he concluded that Christianity was true? By that I mean that even an ironclad proof that the universe has an intelligent order doesn't inexorably lead to the conclusion, "Therefore a carpenter born to a virgin died for our sins and was resurrected" as opposed to "therefore, the universe was created by Brahma, and was then inhabited by Hindu deities" or even just Judaism, perhaps with the spin of Deism on it to explain why we no longer hear from prophets and experience biblical-style miracles. I'd be be curious to buy the book if he describes how he went from the general religious experience to the specific belief in the Christian mythology as opposed to Jewish or other ones.
