- 300 is a rough estimate by watching...realistically it's probably more. The best part is...you don't notice it's there. You aren't always near home, but you are almost always near your vehicle, so why not make it a mobile emergency supply station? Granted...depending on where you live and individual risks, a GOOD security system is a must. Rather than have stuff sit in my basement, I TRIED to make the most comprehensive vehicle system I could, with the idea being I could get by EASILY with what is in the vehicle if I just jumped in it with nothing else.

Man after my own heart. Something I didn't see though, hand tools for emergency vehicle repairs. Under the idea that I prep. for the most likely scenarios, I keep a kit of sockets, wrenches, channel locks, etc. Used those items much more than any emergency gear over the years.

I love this video and setup, I've watched it multiple times. I also believe your Prepper station should be in your vehicle as its always with you. I love that you can drive anywhere and live there without packing anything and if you are home just throw a couple more things in and go. You are def set on tools, shelter and medical.
Chris - thanks for another great video. I have always been somewhat of a prepper - I have four grown up children and I have given them mechanical tools each year, along with flashlights for at around 12 years. My twin 32-year old daughters keep a tool bag in their cars. Last year for all of the kids and two son-in-laws, I gave them a much larger battery car starter with a built in air compressor and an Anker PowerCore 20100. In addition, I gave each of them, (2 girls and 2 boys), a large cooler packed first aid kit and printed first aid manuals. This year, I am going to give them a Sterno "Camping" stove , cooking pan kits along with an alcohol stove, additional tools, and some additional first aid stuff.
You have done a fine job throwing out the fishing pole of ideas on what we should consider doing. I have asked each of the kids to have 30-days of food that they rotate through at home just in case we get hit by a hurricane or other disaster here in Florida. My home is considered the "Mother Ship" for anything after that. We plan and getting each of us trained on CPR. Please keep the ideas coming - and continue to recommend items that can last for a "life time". Your brother from another mother...Abe Azar

Good job Chris... reminds me of all the junk I had in my van when I was doing search and rescue. The two weak areas I noticed were "The Missing Gas Can" ☺ but you addressed that.... And communication. I would include a couple or four hand held two way radios (GMRS or FMRS or VHF/UHF) and a mobile CB and/or Ham Band VHF/UHF mobile transciver mounted on or under the dash. The ham license is easy to get... I passed thd test when I was 11yo - many many years ago. But, there are radios that do not require a license. I know you have your cell phone, but it might come in handy to hear traffic conditions on the CB and emergency conditions on the ham band. Also, you can stay in touch with the family should you seperate. I live near a big wooded area. The grandkids know to take a radio with them when they go out to play. It comes in hand every time.... But, that is just me who comes from a generation where you could not take your phone anywhere... if you had one. Just saying...... 😊

I prep for comfort not just for survival. I want my life to be as easy and comfortable as possible if away from the house. I'm like you Chris, if I can carry it in my car full time why not? In an emergency situation I don't have to stumble around looking for the things to load up. I appreciate the video, thank you.

Your prep kits have more stuff in them than I even own.
This video is a prime example of why all your video productions are watched by myself; in-depth and cogent layout of material. The methodology provides much to think about when preparing an alternate, mobile storage facility that may be a lifesaver if primary storage facility (i.e. house) is lost.
Redundancy Matters - There are always those that will be seeing and receiving this info for the first time. No redundancy there!
i'd rather have a length of rubber tube for siphoning gas rather than a gas can.

TIP: Take wrapper off the SWAT T as your hands will be bloody when a tourniquet is REALLY needed. Blood is very slippery.
Good tip. Maybe keep it in a compressed ziplock bag so it can easily be torn into?

The reality is the T is safer in the wrapper keeping it clean. Second if it's needed you are most likely not self applying one anyways unless your Rambo in which case you would be using gun powder and your Kabar to seal the wound lol.. Most trauma medical supplies are for someone to quickly access and use on you.. IE Ifak.. An ifak is not to be self used its so a field medic doesn't have to use his supplies or dig through his pack for basic components. So your buddy who is actually the one who would likely be applying your tourniquet won't have an issue using his pocket knife to cut off the wrapper.

Apart from the gas can you mentioned, you forgot a defibrillator and playing cards... but on a more serious note, I'm impressed. With that kit, you and the family could get stranded in a middle of nowhere and turn a scary situation into a camping trip... now that is what I called prepared! ;)

Thank you for sharing this. While I drive a smaller SUV, this gives me ideas on how to stock my car for in case shit happens.
So 1) awesome. 2) I think Chris must be obsessive compulsive (I am personally, and I need to have EVERYTHING) 3) wondering how much that load out must have cost 4) if I had all stuff in my car, I'd probably forego the shelter and just sleep in the car. (May or may not have slept in my car instead of the tent when camping before...)
Kinda mad I forgot the glove compartment. Few things in there, like my iVue 1080p camera glasses for documenting crazy stuff, traffic stops,etc.

+XSourStarX -- Chris has said that he carries a Glock 19 or a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. Personally I'm not much of a Glock guy -- the crazy grip angle and lack of a manual thumb safety make it a no-go for me -- but the M&P Shield is a darn good carry gun!

Love seeing the Klean canteen! It drives me nuts seeing everyone using nalgeene. You can't throw a nalgeene on a flame and boil water.
Great water bottles, awesome for every day use as well. Mine was until one of my friends was acting like an asshole and decided to play keep away with it, on asphalt... I'm gonna buy another one lol
+Mainframe Productions (TheMainFrameGaming10) lol... The K leans are pretty durable and actually surprisingly insulated.. The extra weight vs a nalgeene is well worth it for dual purpose use.. Everyone always hammers about how everything in a bag should serve dual purpose to help save weight and items needed. Then I see them using a plastic bottle that can't do anything but hold water lol.. Just one of those little things that bugs the hell out of me! When I see someone using a stainless bottle or canteen of any sort.. I know they are on their game and prepared for worst possible case... I also don't understand the wide mouth craze ? You're not going to cook inside the bottle lol. Why does it need a large mount on it? It's not easy to find std mouth bottles anymore. Had to wait 3 weeks for my canteens to arrive. 32oz woth std mouth and d ringed sip lid. Something that should be the normal always in stock item 😡

That's great but now you are carrying two items to do one task when you can accomplish the same with just one. Size and weight always being a concern this is one area you can pick up room for other items or reduce pack weight. A 3day kit isn't meant to live off only get you to a place where you can. The faster and more efficient you can get to point B the better your chances to survive. Speed and agility is way overlooked. The lightweight backpacking crowd is carrying 15-20lbs and traversing 100's of miles in a few days. There is a lot to be learned from them in terms of making bags for bugging out or emergency survival. Use a cache to resupply don't try and carry everything for every scenario. You are only trying to survive a couple days at a time while on the move. Overload yourself and the reality is.. You will never make it to point B. You'll be moving too slow, burning too much energy have to stop and take many more breaks to rest. Also keep in mind. Stoping to boil water takes time and fires can be smelled and seen for miles. It should be only a last ditch effort in a worst case situation where you would want to actually take the time to boil some water. Purification tab fill the bottle with a screen and get back moving again in seconds. I carry a lot of crap to I won't lie. But don't think for one second once I know my situation I wouldn't throw out all the gear not needed for that scenario to lighten my pack and move faster. I actually carry a lightweight pack inside all my packs for just this reason. Every bag I pack starts out way overdone with way too many redundant items. I then spend weeks slowly ripping it apart and removing crap to get it to what is just the essentials. Don't make a bag and throw it in the trunk or closet and be done. Go back through it later and keep critiquing yourself and looking at things asking yourself is this really needed or is it a luxury just in case item. I'll bet you most people would find they have the same ability with 2/3 of the items.
Chris, Great video. Some things I would personally add....Small come along in case I got really stuck, couple cans of fixaflat or green slime so I wouldn't have to take off tires in in-climate weather. Maybe a few Bright orange reflective safety vests (get them cheap at Harbor freight) in case you or the family had to walk along a road at night. A couple of extra belts for the car (alternator, or fan belts) and maybe some hose tape in case you have a coolant hose spring a leak and lastly maybe a hidden spare key in case you lock yourself out! Just some ideas. Thanks, again!

Nice car kit. Practical. Depending on kids ages, I kept paper, colored pencil, word search type items too. Not as necessary now a days as kids always carry stuff with them. 👍👍

great video Chris. We are preppers first. I do have a suggestion for you. Umbrellas and spare boots. I carry an oversized golf umbrella in my trunk and 2 smaller umbrellas in the door cubbies. I also pack my spare hiking boots just in case.
Just a quick question do you carry any sort of respirator just because a lot of the time at an MVA or if you have to enter a burning building the smoke would slow you down?

Being a first responder, I wonder what you car would look like after an accident. I hope it never happens to you, but if you were in a rear end collision most of your stuff would be gone. If you were in a roll over it would make it even harder. Not to mention the children, the stuff that would be flying around in that cab........I have seen a person killed by groceries during a accident. Just a thought. Love all the gear and the video.
Unless you have formal training and certification, I would highly suggest avoiding treating people during an accident or emergency especially with torniquets. You can do more damage than good regardless of the situation.
With that being said, I agree with what others have mentioned... basically overkill. This looks to be mostly just a storage spot for all the extra stuff you've accumulated throughout the years. Most situations can be mitigated with your typical edc bag, bug out, etc. I get it, what fits you, may not fit me, but, as others have mentioned, one good rear end accident and most of your stuff is done with anyway. You may be too injured to even tell a bystander where your gear is. What if the car gets stolen? That's a lot of $$$ And time & effort down the tubes. Is insurance going to cover that? I don't mean to rag on your choices, but as a prepper, I would hope you consider some of said factors, especially liability.

What purpose does a tourniquet serve? Answer: To stop arterial bleeding. In other words, something that can kill you deader than a hammer in minutes.
If you think "being dead" is a better choice than "doing it wrong".... I don't even know how to respond to that. But what it says to me is, "learned response". One of those things people parrot because they read it over and over. "Don't try/Appeal to Authority"
I think most people that prep enough to buy and pack a tourniquet are going to have some idea on how to use it. As for the "treating people at accidents part"...I don't believe I said anything about having them because I want to look for opportunities to play paramedic.
Bleeding is one of the things that can kill you the fastest. That's why I have two videos on it with a professional demonstrating compressible and non compressible arterial bleeding.

Beyond that, prep however you like, but I would suggest taking a hard look at your pessimistic outlook on life in general.

Thanks for the response. There seems to be some miscommunication though. I never said don't use a torniquet. My advice was against treating others with one. If you want to use it on yourselves, then by all means. You'll excuse me if I'm not totally familiar with your views, I've only been watching periodically for a couple months. I was only posing geniune questions that you chose to ignore regarding the video. Instead, the response was focused on assuming. "Parroting" is common yes, but actual training, education and experience is why some people are an "authority". Pessimistic view of life in general is a pretty deep assumption as well. I try to look at every possible angle in any event. So yeah, bad things can, and do happen. A prepper will consider those things which is why we do what we do. In any case, let's just agree to disagree. Have a good one.
The main things you dont want to use on others without certification would be invasive items like Decompression needles for Tension Pneumothorax for example. A Tourniquet is something that you use for Major bleeding that is going to kill the person before treatment is available, and thus should be used without hesitation if need be, because without it they will probably die. If it is not life threatening, i don't suggest using a TQ, just use pressure application and Hemostatic agents instead.
do you know how to tie a knot above a cut, done you know how to use a tourniquet. my training was volunteering on an ambulance for a month, teen cert class, and being a volunteer firefighter

I know I need a lot more but I always keep the following items in my car here in Los Angeles.
Flashlight and batteries, empty coolant jug for water, couple bottles drinking water, Sabre Red pepper Gel that can shoot a stream at a bad guy 20 ft away, Boonie hat and bandanna to keep the sun off if I need to walk home, jumper cables, funnel, empty 2.5 gallon gasoline jug, fire extinguisher, basic first aid kit, dash cam, window sun shades, battery jump starter pack and 12vdc air compressor and digital tire gauge.
Outstanding video! Picked up a few good ideas for my setup. Couldn't agree more with having a bit more than you need, especially since you don't have to worry too much about weight when the stuff is in your car.

Just because I heard you reference (Harbor freight) I have one of their 100psi air compressors to top up tires or put in enough air to get you to a better destination. Think that's very important. And super compact and plugs into the cigar lighter outlets.

Great video. I do like the new version. One thing I keep in my car that everyone says is crazy, is a hydraulic jack. Biggest scenario that may happen to me is a flat. I want to get it changed as fast as possible. The three people that have used it so far that I stopped to help do not think I am crazy anymore. Well, maybe they do. Thanks for sharing.

You can consider rigid molle panels for tour seat backs, you can attach almost anything to them to free up space for bulkier items. Also, in a crew cab you have ample room under the rear seats for things such as a sleeping bag, tarp, small propane cooker, hatchet, etc. Good luck, you’re thinking about it, and that’s always the most important step😎👍🇺🇸

Good stuff looks very similar to the back of my wifes cherokee. I have pretty comprehensive kit in my vehicles but I keep them in the packs. I like both methods. Everyone who preps will always want more, Just having anytthought out preps will put anyone who cares ahead of 99percent of the people out there. I really like your kit........

I love my emergency air pump/car starter carried one for 30 years. Saves me from changing flats in dangerous spots. Used it a bunch.

The only thing I can think of that you need - is another bag or two. If you're planning for you and your family, and if you need to take to foot, with only one bag you'll have to leave a lot of gear behind. But if you have a few people with you, each can have a bag. You could carry the primary gear, your wife could carry food and a mess kit, someone else can carry additional gear. . . You need more bags man. :)

You make me laugh. Dry sarcasm...mail truck...kids' eating disorders...toxic smell, er, taco bell. I get your point on what prepping is about. That's my track, as well. In all the videos I've watched about this, Sootch, 8888, and a few others, there was always something missing. Not product, but in the presentation. Everything was compartmentalized by topic and then stuffed into a mission specific bag. I like this in that...well, your organized, you take visibility precautions by keeping it all outta sight, and your redundancies cover pretty much everything I can think of to get from point A to B(ugout), with the understandable exception of firearms. Thank you. I appreciate this. Keep on keepin' on.
