The Contract Guides and the Absolute Beginners Guide are both some of your best (not modded) ksp series, they were very helpful when I started playing ksp about 3ish years ago and are still fun to watch, keep up the awesome work Mike!
No, as a new-ish player, I've never been tired of communication blackouts.
Because I watch Mike Aben. I have relayed EVERYTHING :D
I even put a little tiny relay drone on my asteroid hunting ships - called it the "Crybaby" in honour of Serenity - so as I approach a big rock, I can eject it and have it linger in the area, so I can maintain control even if my ship has a big asteroid between it and Kerbin.
I have no idea if this is needed at any game setting... but it felt right, so I did it.
I can't thank you enough for your contract guides and beginners guides. Started playing KSP 1 last month. These helped me tremendously at getting through what felt like a very steep learning curve. I am completely enjoying KSP with the help of your videos.
i relized after playing this game for about 1000 hours. i still have no idea how to play it. this video showed me that. well done, looks like i need to delete what i know from my own game play and start all over with this knowledge
Thanks
Yay, can't wait for more! Also would be cool if you do video on asteroid capture 😊
Upd. Nvm, I forget you covered it in another series 😅
awesome
Great stuff! The only thing that worries me is this design has a small window where none of the solar panels are in sunlight.
Very true. You have to make sure to roll it the right way. If people want, it would be easy enough to place the four panels symmetrically around the fuel tank, but I like hiding things away.
@@MikeAben True enough, but I think as Kerbin goes arouns the sun the probe will rotate relative to the sun, eventually dying for no apparent reason until it wakes up again.
Unless that doesn't happen in stock.
@@JohnWilliamNowak That doesn't happen in stock. Electrical consumption isn't modelled on non-rendered vessels. I'll admit that I'm exploiting that a bit.
@@MikeAben When Kerbalism has entered your brain, there is no escape.
Can the base construction contracts that require large amounts of fuel to be on-board be fulfilled by ISRU, instead of launching all that fuel from Kerbin? Is there some factor that makes it impractical or uneconomical?
I'm pretty sure that will work.
Mike, I think there’s an error in the video. At 7:08 You budgeted 2700m/s for the mission (including 1000m/s for the orbital insertion). But at 10:52 you lost the 1000m/s that you budgeted for the orbital insertion. Total should’ve been 3800+2700=6500m/s instead of 5500m/s
The 1000 m/s for the orbital insertion is part of the 3800 m/s for getting to orbit. You can think of it as 2800 m/s + 2700 m/s if you want.
Cool I'm Early for once
