I wonder if it also has to do with his heritage. Here many indiginous people and indiginous descendants have this calm way of talking. It's also common up North, where the indiginous heritage is stronger.

The thing he said about the dog walking itself reminded me of something my sister said back when she was about 5 or so. We were from a small town, and seeing a stray dog was rare. But one year near Christmas time, we were out driving around with our grandparents looking at Christmas lights (family tradition), and a stray dog was walking down the sidewalk. My sister got all excited and started pointing and exclaimed; "LOOK there's a dog out taking it's own walk!" More than 50 years later, and she STILL gets teased about it.

This Zoomer.... Actual millennials know, regardless of money, siblings or race, your mom sent you outside until the street lights came on. Neighborhood and Trailerpark kids, playin kick the can, freeze tag, climbing trees. When we all went outside to play, no matter how much we hated each other in school, we were friends for the evenings.

I noticed that in my neighborhood. A black family let's out their small dog and everyone else brings it back thinking the dog got lost or got out.
After a while ppl got the gist that they just let it out on purpose. Hell I even brought it back once before I found out this was a daily thing.
