    Really appreciate this series!
    Getting ready to swap a 2.2 in an ‘08 that my son ran low on oil. Found a new GM long-block for $1450 and hoping to get ‘er done this week. Your vids will really help 👍🏽

    You're a brave soul working on that small front wheel drive vehicle. I'll stick to my V8 rear wheel drive where things are much easier to access. That head gasket "blows", having to do that over again; but FelPro is the only brand I'll consider other than OEM. That was a very good tip on die-electric grease on the hoses, I've never thought of that. Also, very good idea using anti-seize on the exhaust bolts, which I have always done. Great job, and I thoroughly enjoyed this series you did on this engine.

      The head gasket fiasco was terrible! I learned a huge lesson. Fortunately this is my own vehicle and not a customer's. Thanks for watching the whole series 🙂

      Tbh this engine bay has plenty of room for modifications and to take the motor out, he made it more simple than I even thought it was on these 2.2L! That’s how you do it i needa pull one at the junkyard soon just got way too many personal vehicles and car client vehicles to fix first but looks like it’ll be a quick one day job than sell full price

    Hi I have a ‘06 cobalt and it’s a 5-speed and the throw out bearing started making a-lot of noise. My question for you is would it be easier to pull the engine or transmission? Unfortunately I don’t have access to a car lift….

    Great video I do disagree though about why the 2000 to 2500 some would say 3000 RPM break in for 20 minutes this was originally done with cam in block flat tapet engines and was to splash the cam lobes with oil as the only lubrication the lobes get in a cam in block engine is slash from the rods and the splash patern changes between 2000 and 3000 thus the reason for the variance in rpm to make sure all lobes are covered thiis is the same reason some have said to vary highway speed driving for the first 500 miles
    In my opinoon still not a bad idea to perform this initial break in however the highway miles I would do some full throttle to the rev limit pulls as this is the best way to break in rings wich unfortunately us flat tapet cam fans cant exercise unless we want to chance wiping a cam lobe

    In your experience is a Chevy cobalt LS 2006 a decent car?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think they are great little commuter cars. The biggest issue I see with these is that they lose oil in between oil changes. Because of this it is easy to run them out of oil. That's what happened to this car. You need to be good at checking your fluid levels regularly.

    • @johnharty5757
      @johnharty5757 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ValleyMobileAutomotive Agree completely people ask me if the 2.2 Ecotec (l61) is a good engine and I say well they consume a little oil and they will not tolerate dirty oil as the timing chain tensioner will plug and fail
      Keep clean oil in them and don't let it run low and they will last a very long time
      Currently driving a 2005 cavalier with the l61 with 262000 miles on it and still healthy
      This is my fourth l61 and highest mile l61 unfortunately I have not been able to find out just how many miles one can get out of one because the other three were wrecked two of them due to loaning out and one of them my was my bad pulled out and missed seeing a car

      I really like the Cobalts. Bought my son a 2008 new and just now getting ready to swap the engine as he let it run low on oil and it jumped time. Before the motor swap, I renewed all of the suspension and the lower steering shaft and it was super easy. Great, easy to work on vehicle in my opinion. Decent fuel economy too!

    How would I break in an engine when I only ever run the car on the track?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nickerskine2564 Good question. I probably wouldn't worry about break in. Depending on the track your RPMs will vary enough to break itself in. Most people drive conservatively with little RPM variation so a break in is more important. Plus if you're running it hard on the track you'll be rebuilding it again before you know it 😅

    • @nickerskine2564
      @nickerskine2564 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I mean the engines we have do last a long time for how old they are when we first get the car, but we are basically hitting the rev limiter every lap

    • @nickerskine2564

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nickerskine2564 Sounds like fun! The cool thing about these cars is they come with three different engine options. If you had a wrecked donor car you could swap over any of the three engines along with the harness and applicable computers.

    • @nickerskine2564
      @nickerskine2564 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ValleyMobileAutomotive I don’t think I have that option with my car. Mines a sunfire. Similar motor for sure but it only runs a single coil. Although I wonder if it’s just the coil that might be different with the non VVT cobalt motors

    That's the trouble with getting a motor rebuilt. I definitely think mechanics would have more work if it was video documented because I definitely want that motor knowing how well it's been rebuilt.
