To be a first class city it would need mass transportation. Light rail, commuter rail or something.

God, I wish I knew what I was doing when I lived there in the 90's.. I was just a kid trying to figure it out.

I agree with the previous comments from Chad Lopez. How can Tampa be rated so high with a trouble public transportation system. Do these people not drive the main arteries of this city. I live just North of Linebaugh Ave and Sheldon Road. It take me an hour or more to get to West Shore Blvd and Kennedy every morning to get to work. When I was in the Navy I had the opportunity to visit other communities like Hong Kong and Singapore. These cities are also hot and humid, but, have been able to develop successful mass transportation systems. In Singapore, the MTA is air conditioned and lined with shops and restaurants that can take you to the airport or downtown. Hong Kong is the same way.

I'd really like to see the street car modernized to connect these places.

As a Tampa native, I find it strange and disrespectful to refer to Ybor as “barren land.” It has been occupied for a long time and is mostly a lower income area. I do agree with you that it is not always safe in some areas but making it seem like it’s vacant is far from the truth. A lot of lower income ethnic communities call this place home, many of which own businesses that make this place a part of Tampa I enjoy. Gentrification may bring some money to the area, but it’s certainly not in everyone’s best interest.

Don’t think he referred to Ybor as barren but instead the current Gasworks district

Tampa best place to live? BS
Tampa has had the highest inflation rate of all cities in the US for past 3 years. Life is hard for locals.
The development has only lined the pockets of outside investors. Hoping for a real estate crash so locals can afford housing again.

Those magazines are so wrong…Tampa is MASSIVELY overdeveloped with the traffic and heat to match. TPA airport is only thing worth keeping….throw the rest in the Gulf of Mexico. TampaTerrible is correct. Horrible place. The HEAT isn’t livable.

Wait wait wait !!!!!! Stop.....I hear nothing but grandiose sales pitch....again!!!from corporate real state I remembered talking to a Harvard...real estate lawyer several years ago...and he said... that the future of America will be .......ANY WHERE USA......which means....go to any city in America and spin around 3 times, open your eyes, you won't know where you ARE......because they all look alike....same stores, same restaurants, and even same architectural and design...layouts...it's sad we in the Tampa Bay area are goin to be just like all other major cities...don't let corporate real estate turn us into Any where USA....keep the charm of the south and state of Florida and the Tampa Bay area...we will be just another big expensive city... why would you want to come and visit....

The feds don't want you going anywhere. They want you to stay within 5 miles of where you live to lower your carbon footprint.

They want us all living in their new apartment complex’s owned by Bill Gates and BlackRock. Who needs freedom when you live in such a “nice” little box like everyone else?!
