I am not so sure about this, I know what you are saying but there is definitely a trend where people imitate humility in order to create a better image for themselves so often what looks like humility is actually meritoriousness.
I'm not clowning, but it is a stain on Ben's career to be remembered by most people for getting the fastest UFC finish on him and then to get knocked out by a youtuber who a lot of people hate in the first round. It overshadows his not well-known MMA career.

There are easily plenty of books than can grant you similar or even better outlooks on life... literally anything by Robert green or books on human psychology, dozens and dozens of books like that out there. You can download em to you phone for a couple bucks, heck, if you ain’t got time to read it, download em as an audiobook, plug in your headphones and play it as you go about your day, reading any book has never been easier than it is today.

It's refreshing not to have the smoke and mirrors brevado and just see a "normal" - though exceptional athelete- person. He won't be effected by any social media hit pieces or discussions as it matters not to him. He's very stoic in his attitude. And seems to have a very grounded grasp on reality. I like him a lot, even more after the Masvidal loss and now this. He has strength or charachter. A trate that seems to be slowly deminishing over time. These are the role models the youth need. And the children he is coaching are lucky to have him as their mentor.

The most amazing thing about Mr Askren is the fact this man has a life time of winning never tasting defeat. Then when he finally does lose takes it like a true champion no excuses, but that’s not the best bit everything this man does is for his wrestling kids the way he carries himself is because he understands a generation of kids need to see sports and results aren’t everything. Life goes on dust yourself off and keep moving.

Na he def has some excuses. In multiple interviews including this one they ask Ben do you see Jake any different as a fighter after the fight and Ben says "No I don't. I still don't know if he is any good or not it was too fast so I couldn't tell". Those are words no man said ever after getting knocked out. Jake literally knocked him out within a minute yet he still can't admit he was the better man. The fact he knocked you out in the first minute yet you still don't want to admit he's capable of anything in the ring is an excuse. That's just poor sportsmanship if you ask me. Also in interviews before the fight when they ask how he got picked to fight Jake, Ben straight up says "I called Jake out. Dillon Dannis and Connor were his first picks but Dillon bitched out so I took the fight" Yet here he's talking like Jake picked him because he's the easiest when he literally called Jake out and wasn't the first guy to get a contract. Even Bisping got a contract. Ben is a nice guy and I love his attitude majority of the time and like him as a person. But he def isn't free from giving excuses. He did the same thing in the Masvidal fight.
I liked Ben before watching this interview, but my opinion of his character and overall likeability has massively increased. Dude is as real as they come.
Everyone seems to be focused on the physical aspect of why he lost, and while it played a big factor, I think the juxtaposition between their mentality’s going into the fight, and through training camp, played a huge factor. Really hungry and motivated to prove it to himself and prove everyone else wrong vs. not motivated and indifferent towards the result. That’s a recipe for disaster

It's refreshing not to have the smoke and mirrors brevado and just see a "normal" - though exceptional athelete- person. He won't be effected by any social media hit pieces or discussions as it matters not to him. He's very stoic in his attitude. And seems to have a very grounded grasp on reality. I like him a lot, even more after the Masvidal loss and now this. He has strength or charachter. A trate that seems to be slowly deminishing over time. These are the role models the youth need. And the children he is coaching are lucky to have him as their mentor.
I still think Askren is a badass person, regardless. One of the most humble athletes I've ever seen.

The most amazing thing about Mr Askren is the fact this man has a life time of winning never tasting defeat. Then when he finally does lose takes it like a true champion no excuses, but that’s not the best bit everything this man does is for his wrestling kids the way he carries himself is because he understands a generation of kids need to see sports and results aren’t everything. Life goes on dust yourself off and keep moving.
That shows that he's a father, instead of going 100% wrestling or mma he tries to teach his kids that there are more things in life. He's a good parental figure as far as we've seen.

I can't stand Jake Paul. When people say the wrong people have money he's who they talk about. But i must admit it was genius to pick Askren. The 1 dude in UFC history who couldn't throw a proper punch. He was retired & had hip replacement surgery. They set everyone up.

Na he def has some excuses. In multiple interviews including this one they ask Ben do you see Jake any different as a fighter after the fight and Ben says "No I don't. I still don't know if he is any good or not it was too fast so I couldn't tell". Those are words no man said ever after getting knocked out. Jake literally knocked him out within a minute yet he still can't admit he was the better man. The fact he knocked you out in the first minute yet you still don't want to admit he's capable of anything in the ring is an excuse. That's just poor sportsmanship if you ask me. Also in interviews before the fight when they ask how he got picked to fight Jake, Ben straight up says "I called Jake out. Dillon Dannis and Connor were his first picks but Dillon bitched out so I took the fight" Yet here he's talking like Jake picked him because he's the easiest when he literally called Jake out and wasn't the first guy to get a contract. Even Bisping got a contract. Ben is a nice guy and I love his attitude majority of the time and like him as a person. But he def isn't free from giving excuses. He did the same thing in the Masvidal fight.
I liked Ben before watching this interview, but my opinion of his character and overall likeability has massively increased. Dude is as real as they come.
This made me a bigger fan of Ben, why? Because he’s a true human being.

Everyone seems to be focused on the physical aspect of why he lost, and while it played a big factor, I think the juxtaposition between their mentality’s going into the fight, and through training camp, played a huge factor. Really hungry and motivated to prove it to himself and prove everyone else wrong vs. not motivated and indifferent towards the result. That’s a recipe for disaster

I didn’t know who Ben was before because I wasn’t in the know when it came to MMA. I’m thankful to now know this incredible man and his wrestling skills, intelligence, mindset and heart made me a lifelong fan and supporter!
For one he was known as one of the worst MMA strikers lol so he definitely didn’t take an L. That was a GREAT BUSINESS MOVE by Jake to fight him.
He showed up to the fight totally unprepared, 20 pounds overweight and a "why should i even try?" attitude. He presented less of a threat to Jake Paul than youtubers like Deji. Really poor performance that was unbefitting of someone like Ben who has worked hard in the past. This was shameful
