OK can I just say, this is my third appearance in your video series for booktuber's best books of the year, and every single time my pick has been [SPOILER] stars. Just saying. Just flexing. Just saying. 3 for 3! 🥰🥰
Hey, Kayla. So I've been watching you for awhile but have never commented before. However, my mom passed away a couple days ago from early-onset Alzheimers and I wanted to tell you that you've been such a help to me throughout her progress. She got diagnosed when I was a teenager and your videos have been a solace for me. Thank you so much for just being the best escape ever.
Omg omg have to stop and comment because Out of the Pickle Jar was written by my sister in law!! Go Steph being mentioned on a big channel!! Love you and so proud of you!
Kaylaaa! The amount of stress I experienced watching this video can’t be healthy 😂 But I’m so happy that after the 3rd time being featured I can finally sleep well at night 😅🎉🎉
I read Bandit Queens via the audiobook and I cannot recommend it enough! The narrator did such a fantastic job at portraying the humor that I don’t think I would have injected on my own had I read a physical copy. Not to mention the correct name pronunciations lol gotta luv that
Oh I am sooooo relieved to hear your review of Annie Bot. I read it before it came out and thought it was completely predictable and bland, and have been honestly baffled to see so many people raving about it. However, a book I absolutely loved this year that I don’t see anyone talking about is HEY ZOEY by Sarah Crossan. It’s also an AI robot girlfriend story, but the perspective is so different, the commentary is fascinating, and the writing is fresh and engaging. I would love to see you read it at some point!!!
Okay I had to pause the video to go finally put a suggestion in the members TBR jar. I have been waffling on putting Dungeon Crawler Carl in as a suggestion because I LOVE IT SO MUCH and I wasn’t sure if you would. But now seeing Gavin that loves it too I am convinced you’ll love it and YOU HAVE TO READ IT.
You know what’s funny is that I wondered if Dungeon Crawler Carl would show up in TH-camr favorites and I asked Gavin if he thought you’d like it and he wasn’t sure you would… but I thought maybe because of your love of How to Become the Dark Lord or Die Trying and other similar books. Anywayyy I’m curious about your thoughts if you do end up reading it !!
I would love to see a video about Dungeon Crawler Carl! My husband and I are in the middle of buddy reading book 6, and I just need more people to read the series.
@@samantharose1001 The seventh book just came out in November. ^_^ The first 6 are all being contracted to be reprinted traditionally, and the audiobooks are really, really well done.
25:42 even as someone who reads a lot of high fantasy and loves audiobooks I still find it difficult to fully understand and get into a story when I start a fantasy book on audio. I always have to at least read along while listening or read the beginning physically and then I can move to the audiobook further into the story
You said it best! What's so fascinating about the ending of The Will of the Many is that it completely changes the possibilities of what the sequel will look like. It'll be interesting to see if there's a vast difference between the structures of book 1 and 2.
you reading the will of the many was exactly me this weekend as well. the epilogue thingy had me GAGGED and i have pretty much the exact same thoughts about it that you did. i definitely agree that vis is not 17 though 😭😭
My face when I saw Dungeon Crawler Carl 😱😱😱 PLEASE READ ITTTTT IT’S SO GOOOOOOD even though I honestly don’t know if it aligns with your taste. If you do read it, PLEASE do it via audiobook, the narrator is simply the best ever and adds so much to the story.
This first dropped for members while I was still working so now I’m watching for the second time later on Friday while crocheting! Great way to spend tonight ❤
We are reading a lot of the same books in 2025 but I know we never agree on anything so I don’t have high hopes. I love Annie Bot though! And Laws of the Skies was mid for me. 😂
This video has brought me to some of my favorite books AND booktubers in the past, and this video is no exception! I absolutely cannot wait to watch all of Babie Back Books videos, their vibes are incredible! (Also cannot wait to get to Elegy of the Undead)
got a lot of book recommendations for this year from this video! also, my dad and i spent a good amount of time earlier this year looking at the author of Sociopath, and a lot of her story doesn't hold up, if you wish you got more out of that book, i would highly recommend doing some research on the author, as you can practically fill a book with all the things she lies about. (oh, wait...)
i'm so glad to know you feel about annie bot the way i did because i was like okay cool. it's the same robot woman story i've read multiple times! need it WEIRD
I had such a similar experience with The Will of the Many! 4 stars pretty much the entire way through, and then 5 stars after that very last part. I had to read the last chapters twice to make sure I understood what had happened.
I started "Will of the Many" last year and was loving it, but I'm such a slow physical reader and my ebook copy on Libby got sent back before I could finish! Bought a physical copy a couple weeks ago, I can't wait to dive back in! So glad to see you enjoyed it!
the will of the many is so so similar to blood over bright haven! I think if you like one you’ll like the other. I much preferred blood over bright haven but maybe that’s because I read it first. I just found it to be tighter and more concise
Now that I've had time to go back and actually watch this, The Watchers is probably the LAST horror book I would have picked for you specifically. Also, I loved watching you unhaul my #1 book of the year while also reading my book 😂
a cool idea for a video is if you go on a member's or subscriber's goodreads and read a five star book, an one star book, and a book on their want to read list
I love how much school and classes is in The Will of the Many. So many books with a school setting simply don’t have students attending classes, even the dark academia seem to only visit libraries, I don’t know how anyone passes. I loved Legendborn but with book 2 I don’t know if the MC went to a single class the whole book. I recently read an old YA mystery series (Shades of London) and I loved that the character for failed out of her prestigious school because she was constantly skipping classes and got so far behind, I think most academic thrillers and mysteries would realistically end this was as no one is going to class or doing any assignments
If there was a way to do it reasonably, I would actually love to see a video where you read a book without knowing who it was to see if you could figure out who it was. But like... how would you do that? I have no idea.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is a fun ride and lol funny. I was feeling slumpy at beginning of January, picked it up at the library and Im now 4 books into the series.
I’m so excited you read the Will of the Many but I’m dying for your spoilery thoughts because- the implications of that ending ! Did you talk more about it with the besties? Because that might tip me into finally signing up😅
Lol, last year The Will of the Many was Emily Fox's first 5 star too. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. I read it when it first came out and the wait for book 2 is sooo long 😄
I feel so seen about Vis in The Will of the Many - my main issue with the book was that he is the ultimate Gary Stu and is great at everything, yet it doesn't line up with his age and his experiences. Found it very frustrating to read. But great ending to the story, I will say that!
I love your vlogs and really miss when you showed more of what you got up to during the day as well, besides the reading part :) Like when you went to the used bookstore today :) So if that is at all possible I would love that, but of course totally fair if it not :)
I agree with you on Rage of Dragons. It is a fantastic fantasy in its own right and listening to it through the audiobook helped me get through to the end, but Military Fantasy is just not my jam at all. Which is what I would classify that book being. I just can't do it when the characters live and breathe War for 500+ pages. I might still pick up Fires of Vengeance at some point but I'm waiting to hear any kind of word on book 3. It's been 5 years since book 2 came out at this point... Also having a whole glossary and hierarchy chart in the physical copy helped my experience tremendously. I consistently referred to that a lot. It might help you too should you choose to try again.
OK can I just say, this is my third appearance in your video series for booktuber's best books of the year, and every single time my pick has been [SPOILER] stars.
Just saying.
Just flexing.
Just saying. 3 for 3!
🥰🥰
You saying you'd 69 this book convinced me 😂
You are precious! Just subbed because I freak out when I find booktubers who love horror or at least speak horror on their page!!
I think a catch-all video at the end where you read the books you were most interested in but couldn't slot in anywhere would be cool
or like a "books I wish were on the list" since she stated that she didnt really get into popular books in 2024 ?
Becoming a bestie was the best new year new me decision I’ve ever made 🥹🥹🥹

@@plantsugar9172 I second this because I did have the audiobook as well as the physical when I read it 🥰
1000% agree, audiobook really elevates the dark humour!!

This pink sweater in the opening - this is YOUR COLOR wowza
watching this while knitting was the best friday night activity for me 🥰 the green cardigan looks lovely!
thank you thank you!!
Omfgggggg i am not okay
You made it!! I was so excited on your behalf to see you in the thumbnail 😂👌
KAYLA! keep going with Bandit Queens! It is exactly what you described as you keep going, and it gets unhinged!
Ok @KateyOneMoreTime is going to be so happy that you've finally included her in this video!
I got so excited for @KateyOneMoreTime when I saw her!

I was thinking that consuming an epic fantastic purely via audio was a bold choice 😆
@@MoJordanReads it literally never works for me😭 I end up not understanding or just not caring
I’m fine with using the audio as long as I’m not doing anything that requires to much concentration at the same time
Same!!! I can do really light fantasy on audio, or I can listen to audiobooks I’ve already read (like ASOIAF) but I can’t start fantasy on audio!
So glad to see katey one more time here! I’ve followed her since forever 😍😍
I look forward to these videos every year! Im so glsd you tagged the booktubers in description so I can check them out😁
The way I yelled when you said Elegy for the Undead. I love that book and more people need to read it 😭

the end of the will of the many was definitely something else!!!
Elegy For The Undead - ok fine, you convinced me
