    Using Shift-Z makes your model as big as possible on your screen and helps with print size as does changing to landscape for some models.

    Another great video. Thanks Aaron.
    But you said it doesn’t matter what the background is.
    Then in the next few examples, the background was clearly visible.
    In fact it obscured the picture of the table.
    So I think you need to position the object so that it is being shown without the background (horizon) behind it.

    File > page setup > landscape (for landscape printing)

    So "print" command from Sketchup is essentially a screen capture, but only the Sketchup window? Hm.
    Can one export a 2D drawing in Vector format to help clean up lines?

      Send your model to LayOut in order to print to scale and as vector. Or export from SU as EPS and print from another program such as Adobe Illustrator.

    It apparently ignores the background, but not the sky…weird and worth some work by the dev team to add more features to Sketchup printing.
