By far the best rag quilt tutorial. No cross stitching or batting inserts. All flannel rag quilts are messy. Is happy to see this with cotton and denim.

Yes, less work however the down side of it, is that you can’t use various patterns in front, but that’s not so bad either. Just saying though in case someone hasn’t thought of that. It’s very nice though. I’ve yet to make one this way yet.
The ruler inserted in the three layers when folding prior to sewing is genius! In the past I’ve tried using a million pins and the layers still shifted- thank you for all your tips.

I've had a piece of fabric for 2 or three years that I've never been able to decide what to do with it. The other day I picked it up and I thought it would make a great bedspread, but I don't know how to make it.

I would like to make a larger rag quilt maybe a twin or full. Do you have any ideas on how to do one using this method. Maybe with more than one color on each side. Thanks for any ideas.
Hi Debbie. It will take a little bit of math on your part. Measure the bed width and length. You may have to buy up to 6 yards of fabric - I'm guessing. Take your measurements to the fabric store, and they can help you determine how many yards to buy. I would start with a small lap quilt before making a bed size guilt. Hi Beverley Hi Beverley. I recommend use 100% cotton fabrics because they unravel easier. Regular fleece is polyester and will not unravel. I have never used polar fleece for rag quilting. Question. If you're using flannel for a rag quilt, do you prewash the flannel? I know flannel shrinks a fair bit.

When you put the ragged side towards you, it keeps you warmer as it creates air pockets.
