For this to be somewhat fair, pero like, u should have brought arepa de huevo, from Colombia…because you went from a simple arepa con queso, which you would pair with eggs, and another breakfast protein, to the Venezuelan heavy hitter with fillings!
Kinda tough to compare them. The variety in Colombia’s arepas lies in the dough, there are over 100 different kinds while in Venezuela they don’t have as many dough varieties since the most common one is the one made with harina PAN. They instead tend to have all sort of fillings which are really tasty. So… kinda two different dishes from my point of view
In Venezuela be have tons of ways of making the dough, obviously you don’t know anything about it, the PAN one is the classic nowadays, there’s from maiz pilao, dulce, andina, con chicharrón, etc… 😅
I feel the whole debate is silly... 😂 Because they're not exactly the same. They're named the same but I feel they're different that they're not apples to apples.
It is a silly debate, but it's kind of cool to see foods I've never had before. I'm guatemalan, so I knew exactly what sylvia was talking about lol, but now I want to try the arepa con queso. Both arepas looked amazing!
1:00 There wasn't a first one to invent the arepa. Colombia and Venezuela (along with Panama and Ecuador) became one country called the "Gran Colombia" when we became independant from the spanish colonizers. The "Gran Colombia" later dissolved, but the arepa remained as a common link between Colombia and Venezuela.
What a hit job! Pero like wtffff!!!! What you just did is basically tell someone to choose between eating a toast versus a sandwich. How are you going to compare an arepa con queso versus una arepa venezolana bien armada? You sent Colombians to fight with a knife in a gun fight. We have so many different types of arepas that can go toe to toe with any Venezuelan ones. In the Caribbean coast of Colombia in particular, we have arepas rellenas that are filled just like the Venezuelan ones but in a different style, that would have been a afire comparison. But no, once again your poor research and production team like they often do, found the first things that probably came up on the internet. If you are supposed to be an introduction to Latin culture for English speaking and Latin American audiences living in the US, please do better. One extra note, we can settle this who came up with the arepa debate once and for all by simply recognizing that because we were once one whole country, la gran Colombia/Granada (Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and some other parts), and then we were split up by regional political interests. This left behind a borders that crossed a multicultural people, without any regard to their gastronomy and history. Sincerely, disappointed…
I'm Mexican and have only had Columbians arepas and I feel this was unfair. The one's I've ate had meat in them and they are one of the best things I've ever had my whole life.
🇨🇴 🇪🇨 grew up in NY, never had a Venezuelan arepa because us Colombians dominated the area but now in the Midwest I have tried Venezuelan areas & their ok.
@joey5059 same, those flags. ...😅 I once watched a comedy film about a guy who had an accident and thought he was Simón Bolívar. I saw it with a Colombian friend and I asked her, "which flag is that? Venezuelan or Colombian?" She said, "they're so close, we can't tell the difference!"
Then if you were to make this food in the U.S. you'd have to go to a grocery store in the U.S. stocked with ingredients that came from the U.S. or Mexico. So is it really Colombian or Venezuelan food? Like in Mexico they have placed restrictions on corn from the U.S. because it's heavily processed.
that wasnt a fair fight, like at all, you should have compare arepa de huevo vs pabellon arepa, you compared a plain arepa with an area with filling, Colombia also has tons of arepas with fillings
There's too many different types of Venezuelan arepas, Reina pepiada, sigrina, domino, this one is pabellon, there's just too many, you could go with something. Simple like just pork and tomatoes, or just cheese and butter, the pabellon is a little bit exagerado if u know what I mean lol.
Yall did Colombia WRONG! We have a plethora of varieties while Venezuelans just eat arepa rellena, Colombia has arepa rellena, arepa w toppings, small arepa, big arepa, cheese arepa, arepa de chocolo - get it right before doing a video like this.
Venezuela also has sweet arepas that look like doughnuts. We also do the larger corn one that colombiana do and then we have harina pan and we also do arepas de yuca y papas and carrots. We also have different arepas from savory to sweet. 😊
Funny how all the videos on this channel got hundreds of thousands of views when it was trolling Mexico non-stop, now that you've gotten your way and with the introduction of these new "amazing" cultures it's more dead than ever. O wow, a plantain is your only unique thing, but I've already been exposed to that thanks to Guatemalans. Yeah, as a Mexican these foods don't look unique at all and all look like I've had them in some other form like a torta, gordita, or panucho. It even looks like a Chinese rou jia mo or Iraqi sabich.

Obviously you don't know what are you talking about it.
Chill the f down. You win Venezuela, arepas are yours 😂

🥴🥴🥴
Arepas are to Colombians 🇨🇴 and Venezuelans 🇻🇪 as Jollof rice is to Ghanaians 🇬🇭 and Nigerians 🇳🇬 .
Am I wrong? Am I right?
🇻🇪❤️
Cien por ciento!!

The two dry arepas are literally burnt compared to everyone else's.

Always and forever mi tierra Venezuela
YALL MY ABUELA IS IN THIS VIDEO YASSS ABUELA SILVIA
Venezuela but I like mine much simpler with carne, queso y salsa de ajo o salsa rosada. Pabellon is too complex
Peru is your cultural overlord in the region.
Is that what ya'll taste like? 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Sylvia is so beautiful ❤

This was the worst video I’ve seen. What type of comparison is this? Bro cmon.
