    You can easily merge and divide shapes by using shape builder tool, and for creating shadows, select the shape then duplicate it, apply gradient ( set opacity of one end to 0% ) then change the blend mode to multiply and change the opacity of shape to 50% or 60% ( as per requirement )
    Your tutorial is great .. This is just shortcuts

    There´s an easier way for this.
    1. Just create a perfect circle. It just doesn´t matter the dimension (it really doesn´t.)
    2. Create a duplicate of that circle
    3. Go to the circle dimension tab at the top (or open the Properties window) and, make sure the dimension is LOCKED (so it keeps the ratio)
    4. Divide either the width or the high between 1.618
    5. Using the alignment tool, center everything
    6. Repeat this process with each newly created circle as many times as you want.

    • @CleverMarkDesign

      The size of the rectangle does not matter. The relationship between them is important. It is important that each subsequent one is larger than the previous one by exactly 1,618.

    How did you know to add those lines at 140° and 50° angles? Was it eyeballing or did you get there with some calculations. This golden ratio rule gets diluted in the process of design the logo because there’s actually no rule and we are just randomly manipulating the circles and adding lines to it to achieve the forms we need. I still can’t comprehend these techniques as a solid golden rule.

  • @BoothPlayer

    That is not the golden ratio. By duplicating the squares and aligning them in the way that you're doing you end up with a ratio of 1/3.
    To create the golden ratio you need to do:
    1- create a square
    2- duplicate that square
    3- multiply it's scale by a factor of 1.618 (the golden ratio)
    4- align it's border with the first square
    5- now do the same to this new square and repeat the process

    • @CleverMarkDesign
      @CleverMarkDesign  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think you're right. But no one will measure it. It's very close to the golden ratio and I'm saving enough for graphic design.
      There's a joke.
      A beautiful girl tells the mathematician and the physicist. Follow me in every step half way to me, then again halfway.
      Mathematician says: That way, I will never come to you, because half of the way remains half, etc.
      The physicist says: I know that I will succeed in this way, so I can get closer enough to be able to kiss you :)
      I did a 100% accurate Golden Ratio on this tutorial. You can look at only 30 seconds.

      That's actually the fibonacci sequence which is basically the golden ratio when the fibonacci sequence grows big enough. So what Clever Mark did is not wrong. And no, the ratio is not 1/3, it's 1/3 only on the first 3 squares, it follows the fibonacci sequence.

    • @CleverMarkDesign
      @CleverMarkDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is the correct method. There are several ways to arrive at a relationship between the elements. I think that for aesthetics, a 100% mathematically accurate measure is not important. Sometimes the Golden Ratio is not the most beautiful logo model. I have done a lot of logos so far, when I present the first proposals to clients, when they choose one proposal, I then work on the GR method and very often they prefer a model that is not GR

      Hello Leatrice, thanks for the comment, sorry to answer just now.
      It is common to analyze the company name first. Then do you have any initials. Then the analysis is approached by the actions of the company, the target group it addresses. In the end, I approach design. It's some common way.

  • @rodysummertje
    @rodysummertje 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the options are limitless with the golden ratio. You can twist and bend it in soo many ways however you like., that is has no actual value. Are there shapes you can't make with the Golden ratio?

    • @CleverMarkDesign
      @CleverMarkDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the Golden Ratio has some design limitations though. This is due to the technical requirements that graphic design needs to meet. So for example with an emblem logo it is not always possible to do everything in GR. Also sometimes with some web design materials. Thanks for the comment!

      In this way, Fibonacci circles create an approximate value. This is not a completely correct relationship, if we look at mathematics. But for the determination of geometric shapes, it is sufficient for the eye of the observer. Just so I think :)

      I was not born in an English speaking area. That is why there is no verbal explanation. I do not speak English fluently. A little later I started using some web tools, so I made tutorials with verbal explanation. You can check out my latest tutorials. By the way, when I've learned all these things or when I'm learning some new software now, I never listen to slow tutorials. I often speed them up when I watch them. Here all things are visual, there is no need for a superfluous story. Thanks for the comment and I wish you all the best in your further work in Adobe Illustrator.
