The Strokes singer Julian Casablancas and Savages singer Jehnny Beth are collaborating on an upcoming song, Noisey reports. Casablancas and Beth became friends when his band the Voidz and Savages played together at a series of South American festivals in 2014. Elsewhere in Noisey's story about Casablancas, he says that he and the Strokes are writing their first material since 2013's Comedown Machine. "We’re planning on recording stuff," he said. "I still think we could do cool things and I’ll do that. I’d like to do both [bands] really if I could."
As much as I enjoy Swans, no. If I wanted to listen to the same riff from 20 minutes live, I'll buy tickets where I can sit down for a tad. It was fun seeing M Gira act delirious on stage tho
Their singer's singing style is too obviously modeled after Siouxsie Sioux's. It's one thing to have influences (Siouxsie has hers. You can hear some Marc Bolan one of her faves - influence in her singing). But it's another thing to mimic numerous nuances of style of another singer's style as this singer does re. Sioux's. Develop your own ****ing style, already! Mimickry is for second rate wannabes too insecure, amateur, and/or uncreative to express themselves in a style of their own. So, they hide behind someone elses.
Fuck me. Not another bilious youtube music critic, complete with arrogant pop diagnosis of another’s psychology and motivation. It's also strange that someone, with a professed interest in William S. Burroughs, would blank out the word "fuck" with a series of asterisks. What horrors regarding their own creative expression might they be trying to conceal?
Hello. Go fuck yourself. Yes, I have some fucking good Burroughs readings I've uploaded to my popular yt Channel. I'm not shy to spell out the word fuck, I just generally prefer a writing style that involves understatement, not over-statement, at least when it comes to using so-called profane words. It was obviously unnecessary in my prior comment to spell out the word, as the word "fucking" was perfectly clear to you. So-called profane words are much over-used nowadays, imo. Burroughs himself used them sparingly, not constantly like too many second rate comedians do, ad nauseum. Constant repetition reduces the impact of otherwise useful "profane" words, and makes their over-users sound like ****ing idiots. Since you evidently prefer overstatement, I'll drop the asterisks again and reiterate: Go fuck yourself! Enjoy.
You've obviously never heard of the Patti Smith Group or Sonic Youth. A rather short sighted analysis as this is as far from Siouxsie and the Banshees as is Paul Anka. Savages vary their sound and styles a ton and are their own brand of music. "She Will" is particularly great as it's akin to having Patti Smith lay some vocals down and then having a Billy Duffy led circa 1986 Cult come in with the guitar hooks. Unique, innovative and powerful. Pretty great stuff right here.
But I made no comment or comparisons about Savages' music whatsoever, only a comment/criticism re. their singer's obvious (imo) attempt to replicate multiple nuances of Sioux's singing style. Patti Smith's or Sonic Youth's vocal styles (SY had 3 singers) have little or no resemblance I can detect to Sioux's or Jehnny's (or to any other singers' particularly, either), therefore I don't see their relevance to my comment. You're addressing a different issue than I was.
I love watching the drummer in this. Her drumming is mesmerising.

Really lame crowd, whats wrong with you guys? This is a great band!!!
it was Pitchfork festival, of course the crowd were lame. :p
i was tripping on lsd
Festivals are a shitty scene for a band like this, you need to be in a dark club.
The is mixed poorly, where's the bass? It was VERY prominent live.
Yeah dude I went all three days, and the crowd was dead for Savages. It sucked. They were awesome for all the Blue Stage shows and headliners tho.
moat-head
......I'll stick with The Chameleons and Delta Five
If Ian Curtis looked like a lady, i bet she will...
DE HUEVOS..!!!
Great band, lame crowd. (yeah I know it was hot, but come on)
thats because most of the time, moshing is stupid and played out
What a lame audience, no movement whatsoever

Thank you for making that clear.

How are people supposed to get excited and "mosh" to a terrible PJ Harvey cover band? I mean I guess if it were 1996, maybe.
