One of my all time favorite movies. Here's some fun facts: 1) Dawson's bodyguard is played by Sven-Ole Thorsen, a bodybuilder and personal friend of Arnold. He appears in quite a lot of Arnie's movies. 2) Dynamo was played by Erland Van Lidth, who was a real opera singer and amateur wrestler. Sadly he died shortly after he finished filming his scenes in this movie. 3) The movie is based on a story written by Richard Bachman, who is actually Stephen King using a pseudonym. So yeah, Arnold has actually starred in a Stephen King adaotation.
On point three I would grant you a "technically." The book and movie version remind me of World War Z, where they pretty much just took the name only, and in this case the name and the fact it was a show but that's it. If anyone wants an amazing suspenseful thriller to read that will make you feel paranoid and hunted, read the book; it's in my top 3 picks.
The fact Richard Dawson is in this movie still tickles my fancy! I still watch Hogan's Heroes to this day. Richard Dawson was the man and the host of the Running Man, the family fued of the future
What I loved most was he played the on screen persona _exactly_ the way he did as an actual gameshow host. Really makes you wonder what he was like back stage on Family Feud.
Crap, I am stuck at work so I can't watch this now. This movie is one of my favorites where 99.7% of Arnold's lines are bad puns and quips, I love it. Don't know yet if it gets brought up in the video but the book is COMPLETELY different and one I recommend to everyone, you will feel paranoid and hunted the entire time. Also, thanks to certain jerks I won't bring up, there is no way they could do an accurate movie based on the book now, when you get to the ending you will know why... Glad I found your channel earlier this year, will be donating soon!
This is my favorite Arnold movie. Don't get me wrong, there are better ones in terms of nearly everything, but for me there's something particularly fun in the action and the setting that I could rewatch it daily. Also the music from the attack on the broadcast is still on my MMO playlist, it slaps.

Fun fact, in the book Killians character is black and is killed when Ben Richard's flies a plane into the building. Also, in the book Ben volunteered to do the show to feed his family, and there were no restrictions on where he could go in the US. Plus, the citizens where rewarded for his capture.
Yeah there are a lot of differences between between the book and movie. The movie is a lot of fun though I ultimately feel the book is better (it reads more like a David Morrell book, and Morrell is usually considered the father of the modern thriller).
@@unclebacon6731 Yeah 9/11 and the war on terrorism killed it since it is an act of terrorism Richard commits that probably kills a huge number of innocent people, even though it's probably the best option out of a lot of bad options for the story since a "happy" ending would have felt cheap due to the game ultimately being a no-win situation.

There are many similarities with the French film directed by Yves Boisset "Le prix du danger" released 4 years earlier in 1983. Also, in the 1990s, a complaint was filed by the Price of Peril team against Running Man for plagiarism. The plaintiffs won the case in the first instance, lost on appeal and then won in cassation. Nevertheless, they had great difficulty in obtaining the financial compensation they sought (amounting to more than one million francs, or more than 150,000 euros).
