you literally taught me how to crochet!! this was my first ever crochet project and I just started yesterday night it took me hours to do this. Incredibly easy to follow for a beginner like myself, been crocheting little animals and my daughter wants a rainbow bucket hat for a festival next week so the challenge was on! managed to do it in a few hours and Im super happy with how it turned out! Thanks for simple and clear instructions, with regular speed crocheting, will definitely make another for my son as he is green with envy!
This was a really beginner friendly! I did end up doing half double crochets because I like the way they look better but by far the easiest bucket hat tutorial, thank you!!

Wow yes it probably looks very cute with half double crochets!!! 😊I should try that. And thank you for the nice comment 💕
@@vickyt5724 I know this is a pretty old comment, but just replace the sc with hdc. You might have to make less rows of the top of the hat, though, as hdc are a bit "taller" than sc
Been working on this project with cotton yarn and a 3.0mm crochet hook, so I wanted to give some tips to those who need them. (Sorry, I talk in centimetres, but it's easy to convert by googling it). - Take your head circumference - for example 57 cm - and divide it by 3,14 - for example 57/3,14=18,15 -. This is the diameter you have to reach before stopping the increases. - The side height should be something between 9 and 10 cm, but try it on to adjust it. Thanks again for this beautiful video!
I love you so much I have literally have been trying to learn to crochet a bucket hat for like a month now and all the videos that I have watched are people who are not explaining the way I need it to be explained because it is my first time and I do not understand a world there saying
This video was posted a year ago, and I hope you had the best year ever. Not only your tutorial is easy to follow, BUT YOU WROTE DOWN THE PATTERN ? Ma'am you deserve eternal happiness
My daughter had been wanting me make her one since she was in her dorm room in college and yesterday I made it for her and she is so happy. Thanks so much young lady you are amazing for sharing your talents with the world.
For anyone ending up with more or less stitches needed for any increase round, which is easy to do when you're accidently adding or missing a stitch or more as you crochet along, just add increase(s) or decrease(s) so you have the correct amount of stitches for the next increase round. I promise you will not notice anything amiss in the end. It turns out perfect every time!
@@gracedalgarno2627 Idk if it will help you but this applies to amigurumis in general. (I am not a native English speaker) The base of the work is the number 6. So normally all your carrers should be multiple of six. Each round you do +1 sc × 6. Ex: Round 2: 12 stitches Round 3: 18 stitches (1 sc + 1 inc) Round 4: 24 (2 SC + 1 inc) Round 5: 30 stitches (3sc + 1inc) So you can count (SC + 2) ×6 "I don't know how many stitches are supposed to be in my 18 round :(" But you know that in the 18th round you do 14 sc and 1 increase six times so in the end you most to have 96 stitches. (14+2)×6
Where do I add my decreases and increases? I’m at row 28 right now, and I could only do 8 sc until I reach the end of the row (the pattern for row 28 is 10 sc 1 inc). Do i add a decrease to the last 2 stitches of the row and start a new row?
@@lynaluu5136 Wherever you want to add them. Any single stitch is ripe for an inc or dec (except for a dec stitch on the last stitch of a row since the dec stitch needs a following stitch to decrease), so, yes, the last 2 stitches is fine depending on how many stitches above or below the multiple of 11 you are. Personally, I prefer to space them out, and stay away from the last stitch (as mentioned above, you can't do a decrease on a stitch without a stitch following it, but you can increase), so I always count the total stitches before I start an inc row (of course hoping I'm at the right count and don't need to do any!)
I have never commented on a TH-cam video before - but this tutorial was so wonderful and my hat is giving me more joy than ANYTHING I can remember crafting . You have got me totally hooked on crochet and truly brightened my days - thank you Lala Perez!!
I have been sitting here for a few months trying to get that dang circle- you taught it with a light bulb going off for me! I love that you showed what you were going to do first without the hook in the yarn! I was like this whole time and here is Lala explaining it per-fact-ly!🎉

I just wanna say I love your whole tutorial, this is my very first time crocheting and the process was smooth. I did mess up a few times in the very beginning but once I got the hang of it, it was a smooth process. Literally just finished my hat ❤️❤️ thank you for this
i know this was a month ago but if it makes u feel any better i just watched vids, didn’t even practice the basic stitches yet but i already decided to make a rainbow bucket hat LMFAO it’s turning out okay so far but my adhd makes this so stressful bc i’m very impulsive and forget literally what i’m supposed to do next😭

Easiest bucket hat tutorial ever. I have been subscribed for a while now but I kept putting off thinking it wouldn’t be as easy as it looked but you made it easier than what I expected. Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm pretty new at crocheting, do you mean in stead of sc when beginning every new row you should do the slip stitch? If yes then would that be counted as one of the sc you need or would you still have to do the extra sc in order to complete the amounts needed
@@taniabonilla4760 it would be a slip stich after the last sc of the round and it would be an extra stich and wouldn’t count as a sc so you just do a slip stich at the end of each round (when you completed all sc needed) before you start the new round! 💗

Solution for continuing your hat after adding two more rows for the top of the hat.
General things before I start, I used a 3.5mm crochet hook and my yarn was either a 3 or a 4 (I have no idea how to figure out the yarn weight sorry). I ended up using around 186 yards / 170 m of yarn. I did 2 extra rows because the top of the hat wasn't able to reach 7 inches with 12 rows for my yarn. I couldn't find anyone who had figured out how to continue the hat after that so I decided to do some calculations and I think I found a solution. (finished my hat and it turned out fine). I've also indicated the stitch count for each row in the bracket because I found it useful.

Row 26: sc (89)
Row 27: 44 sc, inc, 44sc (90)

I was trying to get the number of stitches to 90 by slowly increasing it so that the pattern would work for the brim. I'm not sure if it matters whether the inc you have is in the centre the whole time (someone can chime in below) but I guess you could do the increase anywhere you would like as long as you have the correct number of stitches when you finish the Row. My side was 3.5 inches (9 cm). Okay anyways with 90 stitches because its divisible by 5 you are able to use the brim pattern. So lets go to the brim pattern.

Row 33: 4 sc , inc (110)
* If you follow 4sc, inc you will only get 108 stitches. You will need to replace any two sc with an inc instead. This will help you get 110 stitches *
Row 34: 10 sc , inc (120)
Row 35: 3 sc, inc (150)
Row 36-38: sc (150)
Row 39: 9 sc , inc (165)
Row 40 - 41: sc (165)
My brim was around 2 inches (5.5cm) wide
For Row 33 to work i needed my number of stitches to be divisible by 5 and for Row 34 to work the number of stitches had to be divisible by 11 thats why I had to improvise and add stitches. If you guys did any other number of rows for the top of your hat you can try using this technique to figure out the number of stitches you need. I just tried to figure out a nice number that worked with the pattern in the tutorial and doesn't require many modifications.
I hope this was helpful! I'm just a beginner and this is my 2nd project so haha sorry if this pattern is breaking any crochet rules, I was just using math to figure out how to follow the pattern. Let me know if you have any questions for this adaptation. If anyone one has any other tips you can leave them below! Thank you Lala for your tutorial!
Thank you!! I have to write my own way on how this pattern works and got stuck with row 27 because it's not divisible by 5. Thank you so much for this!!
i love how she says "right?" like she's asking us, and i say "yup!"
😂😂💕💕
@ Hey, I was wondering, when starting on the second row, do you have the tail (at its natural angle) point up, closest to the hook, or the other way around?
@@benfisher7679 you want the tail facing away from you
Lmaooo i do the same its like were having a conversation

you literally taught me how to crochet!! this was my first ever crochet project and I just started yesterday night it took me hours to do this. I stayed up until 5AM this morning trying to finish this but I ended up finishing it later in the day after a good nights rest :) I have a whole playlist of your tutorials and I’m planning on making a top to match the hat! thank you for being so concise and informative! you’re the best ❤️
What do I use yarn?
This is probably the first tutorial i've come across that genuinely felt beginner friendly omg :'^) I've been practicing with yarn for a little while now and this helped click a lot into place so thank you!!!
For myself :))
4:59= 2 Row (2 sc in every opening)
7:22= 3 Row (2 sc in every 2nd opening)
9:25= 4 Row (2 sc in every 3nd opening)
11:38 = 5 Row (2 sc in every 4th opening)
14:10 = 6 Row (2 sc in every 5th opening)
17:14= 7 Row (2 sc in every 6th opening)
19:09= 8 Row (2 sc in every 7th opening)
20:50= 9 Row (2 sc in every 8th opening)
21:08= 10 Row (2 sc in every 9th opening)
21:14= 11 Row (2 sc in every 10th opening)
Brim
25:31= 27 Row (2 sc in 5th)
27:12= 28 Row (2 sc in 11th
29:09= 29 Row (2 sc in 4th)

I’ve only been crocheting for about two months now and this really help me learn a lot because I’ve been wanting to make a bucket hat for so long basically ever since I started crocheting and I just wanted to say thank you for helping me learn more and The bucket hat came out so cute I love it!
😭😭that’s soooo great!!!! I’m glad I could help and that you’re hat came out cute. I hope you keep crocheting 🧶 🥰

Because of you i have made my first hat. You are just good at explaining things, thank you so much and be blessed wherever you are
Solution for continuing your hat after adding two more rows for the top of the hat.
Top of hat
Row 1: 6 sc [magic ring]
Row 2: 2 sc (12)
Row 3: 1 sc, inc (18)
Row 4: 2 sc, inc (24)
Row 5: 3 sc, inc (30)
Row 6: 4sc, inc (36)
Row 7: 5sc, inc (42)
Row 8: 6sc, inc (48)
Row 9: 7sc, inc (54)
Row 10: 8sc, inc (60)
Row 11: 9sc, inc (66)
Row 12: 10sc, inc (72)
Row 13: 11sc, inc (78)
Row 14: 12sc, inc (84)
The diameter of the top of my hat was around 7 inches (18cm) . You can adjust this based on your head circumference, mine was 22 inches (56 cm). Quick math reminder, use pi×diameter to get the circumference.
Side of hat
Row 15, 16: sc (84)
Row 17: 41 sc , inc , 42 sc (85)
Row 18: sc (85)
Row 19: 42 sc, inc, 42 sc (86)
Row 20: sc (86)
Row 21: 42 sc, inc, 43 sc (87)
Row 22: sc (87)
Row 23: 43 sc, inc, 43 sc (88)
Row 24: sc (88)
Row 25: 43 sc, inc, 44sc (89)
Row 26: sc (89)
Row 27: 44 sc, inc, 44sc (90)
Row 28 - 32 : sc (90)
I was trying to get the number of stitches to 90 by slowly increasing it so that the pattern would work for the brim. I'm not sure if it matters whether the inc you have is in the centre the whole time (someone can chime in below) but I guess you could do the increase anywhere you would like as long as you have the correct number of stitches when you finish the Row. My side was 3.5 inches (9 cm). Okay anyways with 90 stitches because its divisible by 5 you are able to use the brim pattern. So lets go to the brim pattern.
Brim of hat
Row 33: 4 sc , inc (110)

Row 40 - 41: sc (165)

Thank you so sosososososs much!!!!
is it the same if I only have 80 stitches?🥹
I low key messed up my sitching half way though and your tutorial helped me get back on track🙏🙏🙏
Incredibly easy to follow for a beginner like myself, been crocheting little animals and my daughter wants a rainbow bucket hat for a festival next week so the challenge was on! managed to do it in a few hours and Im super happy with how it turned out! Thanks for simple and clear instructions, with regular speed crocheting, will definitely make another for my son as he is green with envy!
really isnt
This was a really beginner friendly! I did end up doing half double crochets because I like the way they look better but by far the easiest bucket hat tutorial, thank you!!
Wow yes it probably looks very cute with half double crochets!!! 😊I should try that.
And thank you for the nice comment 💕
hiya, im thinking of doing this myself did you have to change the pattern or rows in any way or was it just replace the sc with hdc?
🥰 I’m so glad I could help 💕💕
You are so right I've also tried other tutorials but this tutorial is Brill. 😀
I just wanna say i love this tutorial so much.
Omg thank you sooo much, I really appreciate comments like this 😭😭💕💕💕💕
Fr
I love how it is a tutorial inside a tutorial, she shows how to do each step instead of expecting you to perfect that skill already.
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen for crochet on TH-cam so far. Thank you so much for putting so much thought behind this video ❤
How do you know how many stitches you need :) thanks for the tip
@@gracedalgarno2627 Idk if it will help you but this applies to amigurumis in general. (I am not a native English speaker)
The base of the work is the number 6. So normally all your carrers should be multiple of six.
Each round you do +1 sc × 6.
Ex:
Round 2: 12 stitches
Round 3: 18 stitches (1 sc + 1 inc)
Round 4: 24 (2 SC + 1 inc)
Round 5: 30 stitches (3sc + 1inc)
So you can count (SC + 2) ×6
"I don't know how many stitches are supposed to be in my 18 round :("
But you know that in the 18th round you do 14 sc and 1 increase six times so in the end you most to have 96 stitches. (14+2)×6
Ikr. I do the same thing whenever I'm missing a stitch, it's easier and more convenient than opening up the entire row

I was like this whole time and here is Lala explaining it per-fact-ly!🎉

little tip for everyone who doesn’t want such a harsh ending!! just do a slipstich at the end of each row! 💗
Thank you for the tip 🙏🏼😊
Thank you for the tip!! 🙏💕 My hat came out better this way 💕
I'm pretty new at crocheting, do you mean in stead of sc when beginning every new row you should do the slip stitch? If yes then would that be counted as one of the sc you need or would you still have to do the extra sc in order to complete the amounts needed
@@taniabonilla4760 yes, and it would count as one sc
@@taniabonilla4760 it would be a slip stich after the last sc of the round and it would be an extra stich and wouldn’t count as a sc so you just do a slip stich at the end of each round (when you completed all sc needed) before you start the new round! 💗
