  • Hydraulic ram pumps operate by utilizing pressure developed by a “water hammer” shock wave. Any object in motion has an inertial force. Energy is required to place the object in motion, and energy will also be required to stop the motion, with more energy being required if the motion is started or stopped quickly. A flow of water in a pipe also has inertia (or momentum) that resists sudden changes in velocity. Slowly closing a valve allows this inertia to dissipate over time, producing very little pressure increase in the pipe. Closing a valve very rapidly will create a pressure surge or shock wave as the flowing water stops, which moves back up the pipe - much like a train stopping, with individual train cars hitting the coupling in front of them in rapid succession as the brakes are applied. The more quickly the valve is closed, the larger the shock wave produced. A faster water flow will also produce a larger shock wave when a valve is closed, since more inertia or momentum is involved.     Make few changes for better luck.
    Drive pipe are PVC type and not flexible.
    Drive pipe do not take turn and run straight to the pump.
    Drive pipe size always larger than output pipe.
    Output pipe can be flexible pipe.
    The input pipe diameter should match the valve diameter.

    You must extend the hose from the source down so the pressure increase,low pressure is the cause

    tagalogin na lang boss para mas madali maintindihan at maipaliwanag..di ka lang marunong boss dapat sarado yong outlet at saka dapat yong supply ng tubig deretso jan sa ram pump bakit parang may iba pang sanga yong supply..saka napakahina yong pressure.. manood ka sa youtube ang dami mo pde gayahin ang set up..i'm sure maayos ang gawa ng gilman dahil nakikita ko naman ang mga posting nila sa youtube.

      yan ho...that is from Gilman wala akong ginawa but it seems that check valve or flopper disc is not working...kaya ko binuksan hindi gumana...but in their video it is working...my water source is 2 meter above and i have good pressure sa input...by the way that is their prototype why it is not working...
