I know how to do oil changes, but I was unsure on this Xterra and now that I watched this video, I'm comfortable going forward. Great Video and detailed instructions 👍
Thanks for posting a simple DIY vid. I run my ‘04 X off road all over the Mojave Desert in the cool months. Oil and filter (both oil and air are a must). I’ll start doing them myself now. Easy peasy.
Thank you for the helpful video! Heads up to others my Xterra had a metal covering underneath to protect the undercarriage and was blocking my access to the oil filter. It was only 6 screws but a bit of a hassle to get off.
How much oil does it leak overnight? Wipe everything you can. Put cardboard underneath to check how much oil leaks out. Then look to oil leak spots. Let me know how everything is going?
@@PistonShack I cut my rubber gloves to keep hot oil from running down my arm. a couple of 2x10 planks cut into step make a good ramp, a 4x4x10 on the last piece works as a stop. Screwing an old tire on the bottem keeps them from gliding.

I have Nissan xterra 2001 do you need engine oil 🌹
Nice! First generation Xterra is the best. How many kilometres on your Xterra already?
Thanks, I am good.
Is it still running ?
You would think these would use more oil? Atleast 5qrts but yes. 3.5 is the way to go.
Hi Vermont! I would follow vehicle owners manual. Probably you are right. Thanks for watching!
My 2000 Xterra is leaking oil and I couldn’t find the oil filter, thanks 🙏
Sorry to hear that. I am guessing you cannot find oil leak, not oil filter, right?

@@PistonShack ok so I found it and it wasn’t even engine oil it was brake fluid but I fixed it pretty easily
@@jaime3974 Sounds good! Cheers)
A set of $60 car ramps and pair of household rubber gloves from Warmart would be a good investment.
Got it) Thanks, Mark!

Hey Les. I heard that too. Some Fram filters are actually okay.
