Jack, I am in the planning stages of building my second ICF house and have enjoyed watching your videos. I’m hoping to meet passive standards and you give very good information. I would recommend that when someone in the audience asks a question that you would briefly repeat the question so we know what it is. we cannot hear what they are asking you. Thanks again.!
Thank you for the suggestion Chris. And to think that always drives me crazy when others don't repeat the question. I look forward to hearing about your new build!
Thanks Jack for the video, it was very intuitive. I am in the process of designing my ICF house. It will be in the White Mountain area of NH. It is going to be 3 floors using Nudura ICF block with 8” core. The ground floor will have 8” core of concrete, and for the first and second floor I am planning to add an extra 2” insulation that will reduce the 8” core to 6” core for the concrete but it will increase the thickness of the insulation foam. The R value will increase from R24 to about R33. In your opinion, do you think it is worth adding the extra insulation or it is not needed? Thanks again!
Good evening ejyogo! Great plan. In NH, the additional insulation could very well be money well spent. Here in CZ 5, for most home it is not. But I can't give a firm answer without looking at the energy model for your home, as well as the local cost of the additional insulation and PV.
Very informative. Looking forward to the next one
