I have to agree that this demo was a bit static in terms of presentation. I felt like I was at some old rich British peoples house listening to their grandson play with a new toy just to amuse him. BUT!!! that said, I've played on one of these things and I have to tell you that it's nothing like this demo portrays, it's a lot better and the grit you get from it is NOTHING like the iZotope Trash they're two completely different experiences. And yes, you can get distortion by cheaper means, I have done that with foot pedals, iZotope Trash and D16 Group, and my Korg Triton has a distortion on it that absolutely kills, and they're all different but now I want a Culture Vulture and I will have one.
Josh butler house producer the fader pro tutorial uses this in his productions.. basically sends his samples through this and back into ableton and sounds amazing.. check it out.
Shouldn't the Bias have been set to the middle before the Drive was dialed up rather than the Drive being turned up while the Bias was turned down? You say the tube is current-starved when the Bias is low, so why show us a distorted, thin, reverberated bass sound?
So much hate on the demo, the hardware unit and and the plug-in. Is this the best we got as a community of professional/ aspiring audio engineers? Thermionic Culture addresses everyone’s concerns, quietly and profoundly, with the first line of the manual. It says, “Don’t take this unit seriously.”
Here some tips to avoid the ensuing gushes of hate for this demo: Basically it boils down to this: Talk about a feature, then give a gain matched example of audio before then after. Then talk about the next feature, followed by an example. This is good manners. *EDIT* Give subtle exaples, medium examples and more extreme examples on different sources. Drums, bass, vocal, mix bus is pretty useful to hear. Did I mention gain matching? we are in 2020 am I missing something? Don't use a gate in post for lav mic if you aren't going to put music underneath the dialogue, it sounds unnatural Also, the lav is clipped way too low, I guess also hence the need for gating, and for this environment a shotgun would have sounded much fuller on his voice... You are in a studio This is literally the "shreds" version of a product demo. My broken Midas desk sounds pretty similar. 3:25 was real LOL moment. Hilarous production values, im sure this team would have made a massive passive sound terrible too, so no hate on the product its self....
Why didn't you show how it sounds with the Katty Perry vocal preset on the UAD Culture Vulture, or show it with electric guitar. This distorted bass was a very poor example.
not bad if u have money u don't know what to do with. Get Izotope trash for 30 times less money and get way, way more sounds. Nice use of reverb on bass tho. Who doesn't just love reverb on all their bass tracks
@ThermionicCULTURE Guys, this demo is a real shame IMHO. I own one of these and I pass mixes through the triode mode all the time and leave the processed signal low down beside my clean mix to add sweet harmonics. You HAVE use it sparingly though and being unbalanced it can be noisy, but if you get it right, it's a treat! To be fair though, it's a lot of $$$ for that use alone.
you can get very similar sounds with an amp sim plugin, certainly a lot better than the tones in this vid, just need to use your ears and think instead of twiddling knobs at random...
It sounds horrible and its a studio unit, so you only have the sound in the studio. It seems like a huge waste of money. Also, why is there a plug-in version if you can only get its sound from the actual hardware valves? None of this makes sense. I call bullshit, $2400 worth of bullshit.
PWAHAHAHAHA that shit sounds disgusting LMAO why did u demo it like this? wtf? i see how it could be used well though. it gets to some nasty sounds but damn. u could have used sounds on it, some people dont see beyond this lol
Thanks for showing the limits of the box. A lot of people don't understand how much we want to see it "abused."
This is the dream piece of equipment!!!
Can’t believe they uploaded that demo! Jesus.
My GOD. What I would not do to get my hands on one of these bad boys.. such a sweet piece of gear
ya i love the last few moments...sounds kinda menacing as it fades out haha...really sick tone and texture
Hi Thermionic Culture, I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of reverb was used on the bass guitar?
how often change old tubes?

How would it compare to the "vertigo vsm-2"?
Absolument monstrueux……

Lots of money for a fuzz box!

Where s the bass guitar? I hear fuzzy noise instead of sustained notes
Those of you thinking that a plugin is better than real thermionic valve distortion don't own, understand or deserve one of these.
very good. i dont have money thats why i use the plugin version from arturia.
Arturia version ..they suck
@@user-zd4qy5zl7i i watch video from white Sea studio he say it's good
agree...
Might not sound that great, but there's a Grammy-winning record named after it so...
I was laughing the whole way hahahahaha, best demo evar
But this one goes to 11.
This is told to be a versatile piece of gear but this demo shows nothing. Please give me more sound and less talk!
2 mins of talk, 2 mins of demo
DAMNNNNN
Horrible demo for an awesome piece of gear
Wow a lot of y’all really got in your feelings over a 4 min YT video lmao 😂

Ah, ok. Appreciate this demo. now I absolutely don't need to spend 2k
Wow, this demo will more likely put people off than make them buy one. This is the official channel?
insane warm dirty gooyness .

Horrible tube processor !!!
this is a proper waiste of money !!!
The worst demo of an amazing piece of gear I have ever seen.
useless and overpriced, you can make the same effect with tons of cheaper and better ways
teach us how please.
