TREMENDOUS. First 20 seconds in and my years of musical training go out the door. I wish I hadn't been trained since BEFORE birth on western intonations. This music is for God. No one will ever convince me otherwise: music was first made in Africa. Making music is part of what makes us human, and it's been going on longest in Africa. Prove me wrong.
Music was not first made in Africa dude. Lol. Here’s a snippet from Wikipedia. Doesn’t mention Africa sorry: The music of prehistoric cultures is first firmly dated to c. 40,000 BP of the Upper Paleolithic by evidence of bone flutes, though it remains unclear whether or not the actual origins lie in the earlier Middle Paleolithic period (300,000 to 50,000 BP). There is little known about prehistoric music, with traces mainly limited to some simple flutes and percussion instruments. However, such evidence indicates that music existed to some extent in prehistoric societies such as the Xia dynasty and the Indus Valley civilisation. Upon the development of writing, the music of literate civilizations-ancient music-was present in the major Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Indian, Persian, Mesopotamian, and Middle Eastern societies.
I must admit, before I heard this I thought African music was a lot different. When I heard this, I thought it was so beautiful!! Everything about it is just gorgeous. Thank you for allowing me to discover this!
Very beautiful. I'll certainly be exploring this musical culture in more depth. It seems I've yet to be disappointed with any music I've heard from Africa. Criminally underrepresented in the US.
Drowning in the purity of its light, this awesome piece blesses my soul in ways I can't explain, leading me back to my own self, Our African heritage and Traditions. A pseudo-spiritual aura pervades my innermost self. I will never be the same again.
I think this song is called Mineon Ba. I have the album........There Was a Time by African Classical Music Ensemble......highly recommended. This song sounds a little different on the album, sung by Kassemade Diabate.
Juldeh Camara is an extraordinary griot/musician ! His talent is incredible on this extremely difficult musical instrument. Thanks to all of you here on this fine/sweet song..
It is beyond words how incredibly awesome this video is. I listen to this almost every night before going to bed. This song shows the depth, creativity and divinity of Us.

Por Dios que maravilla... quizá algún día tenga la oportunidad de ver esto en vivo, sería un placer. Emociona esta música, conmueve... Sdos desde Uruguay
I would love to reach these wonderful artists to ask if I could use Mineon Ba as background music for Langston Hughes poem about holding onto the dreams that we have. I will do a video presentation in which the children in Hartford Schools dramatize this poem to music.because with Covid 19 we cannot come into the classrooms as teaching artists. I must record it today but haven't been able to reach this group. Thanks for any help.
Si je me trompe corrigez moi. merci

Africa is an immense region, so many kinds of music can be heard there, I absolutely agree with your comments about how wonderful this music is.
Well said, too many people unfortunately believe that African music is just random drum banging and shouting lool, there’s plenty more to it
@@sjappiyah4071 But that music is beautiful too. It's nice to have a variety
@@sjappiyah4071 Same. I'm ashamed for thinking that way because I'm South African.
@@sjappiyah4071 even the banging and shouting has it’s own meaning and purpose, but yes people do think that it’s only drums which ofc is wrong

The microphone should be closer to the instrument on the left, or at least raise its volume.
Definitely
I enjoyed the music without knowing meaning of the words.
