Superb results, E100 does a great job on landscapes. As for people being rude or staring I will always say hi, or at least give a friendly wave. Sadly I have a lot of privilege and will get positive response. But if are rude I tend to keep a friendly attitude and walk away. Also that tree with the twisted trunk is magic!

Years ago, I shot lots of Agfachrone and quite a bit of Kodachrome. Then I moved to black and white exclusively. I recently started scanning all those old slides and it made me want to try Ektachrome. I've picked some up, but have yet to shoot it. Now, I really want to get out and give it a try.

The anhinga, like cormorants, have solid shaft feathers (most birds have hollow shaft feathers to reduce weight). They have solid shafted feathers to assist them in diving to catch fishies! They sun themselves with wings out to help them dry off, otherwise it is very difficult to fly with the additional weight.

Cool thanks for the info! The skinny face just creeps me out for some reason but I think it’s a magnificent animal nonetheless.

10:31 Loch ness Monster 😛.. lovely shots Aly. As far as how I deal with people staring, I end up staring back so intensely that they eventually get uncomfortable and look away 😂

Yes I always say the Anhinga is the Loch Ness monster lol
      That’s too funny I should’ve done that

No Ally a 80mm is the Normal Lens for 120 6x6 Square Format - 6x7 lens like a 90 to a 100mm. For wide angle shots you need a 60mm or a 50mm lens for the 500C/M, and I agreed with M Poole, on sunny days to increase the saturation by of a 1/3 stop down. I wish that Agfachrome was back.... Love the shot of the tree, and the grass next to the shoreline, via Seurat feeling. I missed when Kodak had various speeds of E6 Ektachrome, as my favorite was E100X, and 400X meaning that the emulsions had a Warming Emulsions like a 81A Warming filter to warm the shadows, and pushable to 1 to 2 stops. I was bum out when Kodak Discontinue the series including Ektapress, and Supra, and Ultracolor films...

Love that last photo of the Inhinga sp? bird. It reminds me of the classic Nessie photo except yours is actually focused. I try to avoid conflict when I can. People are strange. For all you know the guy had dementia and thought you were a vision he was seeing and just decided not to engage.

I like that explanation the most lol and yes! I said the same thing. The Anhinga always reminds me of the Loch Ness too.
      Thanks for watching!

Awesome discussion of that whole roll of film and your process! As for the rude dude, maybe he has crippling social anxiety and all he could handle was watching people do something interesting from a distance, and wasn’t really in a place to have a conversation. Or maybe it was just a jerk! Either way props for asking a stranger for a photo, I’d be too nervous to do that!

Hi Aly , great upload 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 I’ve never been brave enough to ask anyone for a portrait just wish I had the confidence to ask

Hi Aly! I think you did great on the exposures. It’s not so easy to expose slide film with a spot meter. I’ve been interested in that particular meter myself. Try not to let one jerk discourage you from asking someone for a portrait. It’s his loss! It’s a step forward for you because you made an attempt so you’ve gained knowledge. It’s all part of it and it’s okay. Keek going! Enjoyed this video.

      @AlysVintageCameraAlley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks Davy. The only thing I don’t like about the meter is how large it is. The digital version is smaller but so much more expensive.
After this incident with that guy we went back another day and I did end up asking a man and his mother for a portrait and they were a little paranoid. She asked if she would be arrested lol not sure why. But they did let me take the pic so score! Lol

I rarely shoot slide film these days. Back in the day I would under expose it about 1/3 stop. Mostly Kodachrome 64 exposed at ASA 80. I don't know if that would be good for Ektachrome but it might be worth trying. These days my wife is mostly bed bound,so mostly I shoot close to home so I don't deal with other people very much.

I’m sorry to hear that. I know how that is. I rarely get away from home these days. I’ll have to try that under exposing one day. Thank you n

While I normally don't like an out of focus foreground I think the one with the tree soft and the background sharp works well. I also really like the shot upwards of the palm tree. Looks like a fun day. As for the guy on the bench maybe he was having a troubled day, maybe the weight of the world was on him, or maybe he was just rude. Don't let his troubles ruin yours.

    My interesting experience photographing people:
    1) I was in the President's estate and was roaming around the president's bodyguard and photographing flowers outside the campus when I heard a big shout from inside. He was one of the bodyguards. I just didn't understand what he was trying to say but I just tried to move on assuming he didn't want photography around. Later I came to know he was inviting me to come in and photograph from near. I was scared for a moment .
    2) I was roaming and doing street photography around a river. There was a man and a priest doing some post funeral stuff when I was photographing them trying not to be noticed. But the priest noticed somehow and he asked me why I was photographing him and whether he did something wrong or whether he would be arrested for it. Hilarious but I assured him about nothing wrong.
    3) I was in a fair and was trying to photograph an art piece over a nice bag. The store owner looked at me weirdly and then refused and said not to photograph.
Conclusion: These things keep happening when you are trying to freeze moments of people. Some people don't like it. And it's okay. We should not mind or be offended. It is loss of people that they are not able to get their moment frozen.
Hello Aly btw. Just came across your channel. My very good wishes to you. You make real nice videos. 💐💐💐💞💞💞

really enjoyed the video and images! I would love to shoot more of this film stock but have only shot one roll which came out really blue haha Usually if someone is staring at me, I stare back and head them straight on and ask them "Hi, can I help you?" or "You ok?" i don't ignore them lol cuz then they keep staring, but if you say something to them they stop or move on usually, but that's just my style. Asking someone for their portrait, I'll say something like, hey that's a really cool hat, do you mind if i take a photo, I'm a street photographer doing a project on hats or something like that!

Lol I did look at him several times and he never wavered. Weirdo.
Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!

Love this! I think the overexposed look is due to the time of the day with light getting a bit harsher.

Loved your colors and compositions. I know it is expensive, but hope you get to try a lot more and will look forward to seeing what you get. I haven't been brave enough to ask a stranger for a portrait, so unfortunately do not have any tips to share there and I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

Thanks so much. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my work. I’ve been hearing that under exposing it slightly in situations like this where it’s Sunny will warm it up a bit so I may have to try that next with my final roll from the pack. Thanks for your support
