Great interview, very honest. I used to listen to Neil Fox on Capital Fm back in the day on his evening surgery playing a great range of classics and hits of the day. And when he occasionally covered the Breakfast show. Back in the day of Neil Fox, Pat Sharp, Mick Brown, Chris Tarrant, Martin Collins, Richard Allinson, David Kid Jenson.
I liked Neil Fox a lot on Capital and Magic and I lived near him in London. He was always a nice guy to talk to but I never believed in what they said about him as I havent believed what they said about Dave Lee Travis... it was a pocket of nasty events made worse by headline hunting paparazzi who jumped on anyone who was vaguely popular. I hoped he would be back but even now it has been destroyed and it is so so sad.
There's a lot to be said for maintaining anonymity until a person is found guilty - then their lives aren't ruined if they're innocent. Many years ago, I remember some poor sod being publicly arrested for the abduction and murder of a young girl. Within an hour, there was a helicopter over his house, journalists were interviewing his boss and colleagues, and his name was all over the news. He was completely innocent, and they caught the actual perpetrator a while later. The police apologised and of course 99% of people would have felt very sorry for him ..... but there will always be that 1% who will say "No smoke without fire" for the rest of his days. Dreadful.
The "Capital Radio / DJ Jingles" from 1987 were very Powerful and Hot Rocking. Deep rapid vibrant voice. Always worked. I guess the creative spirit of Kenny Everitt was still very much alive and present while these jingles were being produced.
He must be bitter that he never got the Capital Breakfast Show. Although Capital these days is a shadow of its former self as a national station. No longer a London station.
Re his arrest, when I was 14, he was dating my mate's sister who was 16. He was 28. I remember he came round to her family home and picked her up in his Jag (which apparently had the reg place 958 FXT, or something like that). Not a crime I know, and it really was 'a different time' (see Chris Evans and Billie Piper years later). But still, I think it shows that he could have let the attention go to his head more than some others in the same position did. Hence, personally, I'm not discounting the claims those women made as untrue. Just un-evidenced. Just my opinion.
What a great interview ! Foxy really comes across a nice guy, very humble
I agree

Now it’s all pre recorded.
I used to listen to Radio Clyde and Richard Park did a show called Dr Dick's midnight surgery which i enjoyed. This is what Neil was explaining
Great Kenny Everett impersonation

Whose bright idea was it to sit the subject directly in line of the light from the computer projector?
And the mics in front of the speakers. Needs an eq notch down at 400ish hz
@@AK-nb6hz 150 hz

I've been saying that for ages. Ever since Global bought Capital it's a shadow of it's former self
Lighting anyone?
