The top looks like a lower grade Blackwood. Tassie Blackwood can be very plain and was used alot in the 70s and 80s, 🤔 Qld weather and the moisture lately makes painting hard 😊 Wonderful transformation 👍😊👍
@@breimagined2199 I'd have to see it in person, but yes. Most of us think of the Blackwood with dark stripes (sort of) but alot was very plain. Hope that helped 👍😊👍
Very pretty. I love the touch of gold and I especially like the white inside the drawer and cabinet! Really creates a sense of surprise and sets off the blue.🌸
I took an immediate shine to your way of presenting your craft. The result you achieved for this challlenge was absolutely lovely. Glad I found you. Hope to see more of your videos.
It looks like mahogany from here, wood restorers trick, if you use a chemical stripper then use a conditioner before you re-stain and it will go on smoother, more even and use less stain, plus less chance of it geling from getting laid too thick, makes the job easier! Turned out gorgeous.
Thanks for that, yes, it could have been mahogany. You're the 2nd person to tell me about wood conditioner, I'll definitely be using it in future. Thanks so much.
@@breimagined2199 it was something I use to skip, as an upholsterior my frames for dining chairs etc I had a guy who custom built and then I finished and upholstered, then I moved in next door to a restorer, I was having blotchy troubles one day and was very frustrated so wandered over and asked him and he gave me quite the lengthy lecture on conditioner, I went back, sanded it down and used conditioner, then the stain just glided on, took very little and was an even color, so now I'm a believer.
You really should try Carts & Millie paint. Qld company and lovely paint, clay and mineral paint as well as others. Tarnya is lovely as well. Love the desk.
LOL...Reminds me of the summer I spent stripping oil paint off a painted cherry wood bedroom set. Watching you paint stained wood furniture is making my brain jiggle a little...LOL. No worries, I know you didn't use oil. Came out looking very nice.
Love that you've stained, not painted the top although the paint is a gorgeous colour and looks great on the legs. Your pull out tray is a real work of art. Just subscribed and look forward to more fab flips.
I love the geometric pattern. Never thought of using a gold paint pen to do something like this. Gave it that little bit extra.👍 it looks like walnut. At first I thought it might be mahogany, but I think walnut is probably more likely . Well done!
Hi Bree, Great job! The desk turned out beautiful! I love your paint and stain choices and the gold accents! And the footage of the stripping was so cool!!!! Yay!👏
Very up beat & modern❗️Gorgeous really! Not for youngsters. My only problem (sorry) was the music was louder then your voice. I wanted to hear you talk. You’ve done a grand job❣️😻
Hi Margaret. Don't apologise! I'm just starting out with TH-cam, so this kind of feedback is priceless, and something I will be working on. Thank you so much!
Came off like egg rolls lol. Perfect description! Glad to have found your channel. You did a beautiful job giving this piece a whole new life! Your gold accents are gorgeous! BTW, are you Bre or Bree (something different?) Want to make sure I get that right! I suggest a wood pre-conditioner when you're staining raw sanded wood in the future. It helps to give the stain some slip so it glides smoother. New sub here from Phoenix, AZ USA!
Hi! I'm Bree. But Breeimagined just looked weird :-) I've recently seen wood pre-conditioner used, and have just organised myself to have some available, so while my next flip doesn't use it, future ones will. Thanks for the tip!
Your piece came out very nice I like the shade of blue you used. I do have a question I had a bit of a hard time understanding some of the things you were saying with the music sometimes being on the loud side the glue you used to repair the drawers is it a brand that comes in that bottle with the needle tip or was it a bottle you transferred glue in to either way what brand is it and/or where can it be purchased? Thank you
Hi Catherine. Sorry about the music - I'm new to this TH-cam gig, so I'm still learning what works and what doesn't :-) The glue is just standard PVA - I put it in the bottle (watered down 3 parts PVA 1 part water so that it would flow through the nozzle) I got the bottle as part of a craft kit, but they are available from Amazon. Hope that helps!
a beautiful swan for sure.
Thank you!
Very lovely. Great color choice too.
Thank you!
Stunning
Thank you! 😊

BLACKWOOD!!! I knew there was a common Aussie timber type I couldn't think of!!

The gold detailing is fantastic! Also love the contrast between the creamy interior, that gorgeous blue and the rich brown of the top.
Glad you like it. Thanks!
I love the color combo and the gold!
Your design on the door is wonderful.
Thank you so much!
Nice!
Thanks!
Very pretty. I love the touch of gold and I especially like the white inside the drawer and cabinet! Really creates a sense of surprise and sets off the blue.🌸
I thought because it was such a big cavernous space, it needed to be lighter. Thanks for noticing.

Very pretty.. I love it. I don't know how Corey will choose a winner. The pieces are all so lovely.
Me neither, although I loved the purple & silver one, and the mermaid one. I wouldn't like to be the one to have to choose!!
Simply Gorgeous 😍 what a transformation!!
Thank you!
You did a really beautiful a creative makeover! You should be really proud!! Great job!!!

The geometric gold pattern just went on so fast! It's a beautiful piece of furniture, well done.

Love that blue!
It is stunning, isn't it? I love it.
I think you have a piece of Walnut!
Love it!!
I'm so glad you like it!
From what I can see it looks like walnut or cherry. It's gorgeous for sure, and you did a wonderful job helping it shine.
I did wonder about walnut. Cherry isn't common in Australia, so I don't think it's that.
This so beautiful
Thank you! I really wanted to keep it - but it sold almost immediately!
Beautiful 😍
Thanks Stephanie!
You did a very nice job on the desk. I like the color and the personal details. Great job! 🙂👍

Beautiful!! Loved your geometric design.
I browsed Google for geometries and when I saw this one, I knew it was the one! Glad you like it.
The geometric design looks sooooo good! Nice work
I love the geometric on this! Not sure why it worked so well instead of something else, but I'm glad I chose it!!

Love that blue. Did you ever figure out the type of wood on the top? Your geometric pattern was the crowning glory:)
Unfortunately not - without any makers marks, its difficult to work it out... That pretty blue makes me happy.
Fabulous job. Well done. New subbie here.
