    Just a tip for this part of the country, drink lots of water. You'll dehydrate without realizing it due to altitude and low humidity. If you find yourself feeling like you have a small headache in the afternoon, that's what's causing it. None of our out of town guests realize just how much water you need to drink every day. You probably need double what you are used to in Texas.

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have been sooo thirsty up here! The altitude and dry air has been rough on our noses and throats. Trying our hardest to chug water regularly, but we probably should be drinking even more, so thank you for the tip!

      @w_6880 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having been to Wyoming for extended periods of time and living in Texas the rest, it’s roughly the same. The humidity and heat here drains the water from your body just as much as altitude and lack of humidity at elevation.

    As a life-long resident and outdoorsman in Laramie, I usually am really upset by out-of-towners perception of this area- they just always miss the magic of this area. That said, ya'll did Laramie absolutely perfectly! Night Heron and Crowbar are die-hard local favorites. Thanks for doing my town justice!

      As someone who's coming from Australia to go to uni from February-April in Laramie and is a keen hiker, hunter and general outdoor enjoyer. What are your recommendations??

    • @DrDragonsvidzzz
      @DrDragonsvidzzz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@technicallollipop Definitely take advantage of Medicine Bow/Happy Jack/Vedauwoo recreation areas for hiking, camping, fishing, cycling, and world-class climbing. It's a 10-minute drive from Laramie. We also have a newly built trail system that goes from Laramie to the Happy Jack area- so you can hike/bike/hoof it from in town all the way into the National Forest area, that's called Pilot Hill. That's east of town; west of town you can head to Snowy Range for more mountainous rec opportunities and rivers; head north toward the Shirley Basin for very unique high plains desert exploration. There's no shortage of opportunities out here.

    I agree with Jordan Dunlap that you gave a good impression of Laramie and the snowy Range area. My wife and I retired to Laramie a few years ago and love it. We looked at a lot of places and this was the "Goldie Locks" place with the right balance. If you get back this way there are a lot of other cool places in the Laramie area and between here and the Tetons/Yellowstone. Laramie isn't for everyone (thank god) but it sure is the end of the rainbow for us. There is a reason many folk call it "Laradise."

    GUYS!!! Awesome! First.... recently found your channel, and am really, really enjoying it. Have watched a handful of videos, and think you do a terrific job of story-telling on your travels. The editing, production and overall quality are excellent. SECOND... this particular video on Medicine Bow brings back so many wonderful memories. My grandparents were Forest Service volunteers for 10 years in Medicine Bow, so its a special place for us. I've visited MB 4 different times, and climbed the peak several times. Seeing all the sights was heart-warming. One year when I was in particularly good shape, I power walked the short 3 mile route you did, and then ran down the back side on the 5 mile trail. What a blast! So enjoyable to see the lakes and mountains. Thanks so much! Keep up the wonderful work!

    Took a drive to Laramie in September of 2019 with my parents for one night. It's only 2 hours away from where we live in Colorado. We went on a short hike in the Medicine Bow National Forest. Much shorter and easier than the hike you took in this video. We ate later that night at a restaurant called Altitude Chophouse and Brewery. It has delicious beer if you ever are in Laramie again and want to treat yourself to a beer or two after a long day of hiking and exploring. I also used to take little trips to Laramie and Cheyenne in my 1999 Honda Civic that I used to have either by myself or with friends. It was risky but hey, what is life without a little risk?

    I didn’t learn to appreciate it until I moved away and came back to see friends! Medicine bow peak is so underrated and the drive is gorgeous.
