  • So this was a video I recorded almost a year ago but never finished it until now due to complications. I may also post a shorter version later down the line but for now, enjoy.

    Yes. Well done! I love your solution for holding the cords in place. It helps hold up the top blanket and takes off some of the stress from the center chords. BRILLIANT!
    Bungie cords are required. In some builds, I've seen the tubes joined together internally so that when they are pulled apart, they still stay together to make reassembly quicker. I've also seen straps with click-connectors (such as in a satchel bag) in the middle used instead of the cords. Another option is to double-hang the blankets on the inside and the outside.
    For the roof, I've seen builds where they will put a small bit of stiff insulation (CO 103 2"-4" as required) between two blankets for the roof. Yes, the CO is sewn between the two blankets. The CO's are cut to just a little larger than the size of the booth (may require something to link them together in the middle for stability) and will sit on top of your bolt cord-holders. Maybe putting a small indention in the CO will help lock things into place and producing greater stability.
    Man-alive! It will get hot, but the double cloths will absorb a huge amount, but it will not be totally quiet in a noisy environment. Just be aware of that (as Tim pointed out about 30 times during the video).

    The idea of one cable slipping and the whole thing collapsing like a bear trap is hilarious (as long as it's happening to someone else anyway!). I'll have to add the cross bungies on top of mine, the blanket does sag a bit in the middle, and that's just a single 7-8 lb. moving blanket.

      It's that or make the PVC booth with more segments, but yes the crossing cable held up the top blanket better than I thought it would at first.

    It looked great! I want to build one myself. I think I'll put a midpoint piece of PVC on the sides for stability, and I want to use 1" PVC as well. Great design though.

    I do enjoy your long videos, I've been looking into something like this, but then my memories return that I don't have the space for it, I may just buy the blanket which can be folded up, and hang it when needed, I currently use chair cushions though. I do wish if I can fine a video that has a mini portable booth on a stand that's treated well, not those that sells that does nothing for VA artists.

    Enjoyed the video Tim. Strangely satisfying, especially the part where you incorporated the bolt to hold the bungee cords. Anyhow, completely unrelated, but do you use a heavy bag for exercise/training/working out? Curious is all. Man. How much longer did it take than you anticipated? Just wondering, seems like everything I volunteer for...it takes ten times longer than I say it will. I always finish...but I think, "Dangit. That was more expensive and time consuming than I thought..." then I think about what I was paid and in the voice of Napoleon Dynamite I follow up with, "That's like a dollar an hour!"
    The booth looked cool though. Simplistic but clean.
    On my end, there was a huge difference in sound recording inside oppose to outside. I'd even say massive difference. Well done man.

      I used to do cardio boxing in my early twenties. Now I haven't gotten the time to really get back into that.
      The cost was basically what I figured it would be but it took more time due to the moving blankets issue and the redesign half way through. If I got the blankets at the time they were supposed to have arrived and if I went with the bolts at the top at the beginning, it would have been finished when I estimated as well.

    I am disabled and I wanted to design something much simplier and something that can be folded up and put away, but fit my recliner, fully reclined with a mic on a floor mic stand....any ideas?

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy
      @FunnyGuyTimmy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have an even better idea. I would say if you have or can get help, treat the room you plan on recording in. Then buy the mic for any stand you want. I would also recommend a more shotgun or dynamic mic so the treatment doesn't have to be as severe. And the treatment can mostly just be bastraps on the wall that can look like large pictures if you don't like the usual black or grey foam.
      But I guess I would need to know more about what you are hoping to record for a better suggestion.

    do you have a link to the big windscreen you used for the dynamic mic? I looked it up, but I cant find it.

      @@proffesorsyntax401 the two foam cap style cover wind screens? Yeah, that’s the one I sent the link for. So what it is is a standard hand held foam cover with a larger podcast style foam cover over it. They don’t sell them like that and they don’t come like that. I just did that myself. But that’s what it is.

    Could you please tell me what parts I need to make a 3-foot by 3-foot vocal booth? Could you please tell me the exact number of parts?

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy
      @FunnyGuyTimmy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol exact number parts? It’s PVC. They come in measurements. I say and list the measurements in the video. I usually go with PVC and 3/4 inch. Then all you need is enough to fit the size of the frame. Then buy the 3/4 inch diameter connector pieces to snap it all together.
