I never understood how a baiting trophy isn't possible. Get shot at or hit with an ally taking him out or damaging him? Oh but that would help with repair cost so we can't have that even if it's pennies
I had a game like this last week, caused 2 people to slam in to the ground while dog fighting me and perfectly baited a third in a spiral climb for a team mate to kill when they stalled out. I got zero points that game.
I primarily use the EJ kai, and as you know, its the spearhead of the fight and carry its own, I just don't get why team mates over extend or just ann ass cowards flying at the edge of the map tryna be like a pro player wannabes that dives through the fight late and loose, i mean its fine if its just 2 guys doing that,, but 90% of the team really!?.... Its just frustrating when you basically wanna give your team free kills and they dont buy shit,, and ye I die running out of flares tryna wait for my team to kill 4 stupid guys chasing who cant hit me,,, it does feel better when its not a braindead team and genuinely have fun dogfighting around
@@wyvern7567 Remember the system that Gaijin or Bvvd (or whoever came up with that idea) removed which rewards player for staying in vicinity of enemy? That was supposed to do exactly what you guys think: reward team players. But Gaijin seemingly decided toxic environment is more profitable thanks to induced addiction to video game.
So the only thing separating it from true meta is the weapon system. Later versions of it could be nuts, but susceptible to being too little too late too depending on how the top tier evolved.
It’s later variant are J8H(with PD Radar) and J8F(with PL12 Fox 3 missile). Could be pretty decent, but will definitely struggle against 4th gen fighters
@@pingzhongli3233 The J-8B was retrofitted with RWR and Pulse Doppler radar, so it should have pulse doppler since it has that RWR. Iirc, the RWR is better than the J-7Es.

The JL-10 is the first full band pulse doppler radar indigenously developed and equipped on the JH-7. Aircraft such as the J-7E have pulse doppler radar capable of ranging but nothing more. The J-8H is the first of it’s series to have pulse doppler with the type 1471 entering PLAAF service in 2002 and the 8F following a year later. Of course around this time you also start to see the J-10 and 11 enter service. I highly recommend the books “Chinese air power” by Y. Gordon and D. Komissarov as well as “Dragon wings” by A Ruppercht if you want to learn more. (:

In-game, most players just refer to aircraft with Radars that have LDSD and Ground Clutter Filtering as “pulse doppler”. I know that the MiG-23s, Mirage F-1, F-104S-ASA, and J-8B all had MTI mode instead of a fully coherent Pulse Doppler mode like what the British and Americans had, but I was just trying to simply things a bit.

In the past, that reward is gauged by vicinity bonus (basically staying close to enemy grants you reward, that reward simply assumes you are playing teamwork when are close to enemy). The reward that Gaijin removed few month ago, to promote toxic game environment to facilitate addiction. So, I don't believe this system will be added anytime soon.

I've watched this video multiple times, your videos have the best strategical gameplay and analysis on war thunder, they're the only videos that I can study in a similar way to other eSports like league or counter strike. I still make so many mistakes and have so much gap in knowledge, even so in a few months I've been able to get 4-5 k/d or more in most new jets I play, even better in props. This is after multiple years of playing war thunder and not knowing how to really get better. I have no idea how you got to be this good but I appreciate the content.

Launch range is the distance to target at the moment of launch, flight distance is ground distance covered by missile until it hit the target. "Launch range" in stat card of the game isn't really launch range or flight distance, its aerodynamic range until missile is dead or self destruct. Launch range of 8km for PL-5 is possible if target is flying sideway relative to launch aircraft, since maximum flight distance for PL-5 while retaining some maneuverability is roughly 8km.
Feels like a twin-engined Mig-21 is pretty apt, it's exactly what it was designed as, with the J-8A basically being a bigger J-7 (Mig-21) with two slightly uprated Chinese-made Tumansky R-13s. (Google an image of the J8-A version, it literally looks like a chonkier Mig-21)
@defyn the issue with PL-5B is that currently they are Mach 4.0 instead of Mach 2.2 in game (Thrust issue, BUG) Hence at close ranges the insane acceleration means the missiles doesnt turn well. use the missile past 3km since you can get air kills from 5-6km away. anyways... if they fix PL-5B, its just going to be AIM-9P equivalent and honestly gaijin should give it PL-5C's which is basically PL-5B but with 30G's.

The J-8 would be an interesting matchup for the top tier dogfighters like the F-5E, bis and the kfir I wonder how i should deal with those specifically in the F-5E
non delta vs delta jets F-5E has insane energy retention, generally speaking take them into the two circle. Delta wings will bleed all their speed in the first loop while you're going 900-1100 kph Might be different with the j-8b matchup. Avoid the one circle, they can pull more AOA than you. The opportunity for a rate fight at top tier is relatively rare compared to these one circle fighters as an FYI. Matches and maps are too short for two circle fights.

I am getting most of this from a forum topic on the subject, under "machinery of war, aircraft, china, fighters, is the j8b correct?" Since links on TH-cam Don't seem to work. It seems maybe the j8b batch 2 got the klj-1 which is the type 1471 and definitely had pd capability. However they also maybe got the type 208a which possibly had some pd capability? But it's very confusing. Some sources even call the type 208a klj-1 which is I think where the confusion over it being pd radar stem from. Now iam also very unsure.

Apparently what issues there with the 208 with aspides was fixed with he 208a, but apparently the only upgrade was a more potent antenna, with no mention of it having pd. Maybe the whole plane should just be upgraded to j8c/d standard so it's better/more competitive, like how the ja37 became the 37c so it could get countermeasures. Either that or a upgrade to the 1471 radar which definitely had pd capability like you said. Unfortunately very hard to research topic with often contradictory sources.

My biggest problem with is it, the radar is wrong. Is should be a KLJ-1, not a Type 208A. The 208A armed J-8Bs did not use the PL-11, but this one does.
You are correct that Type 208A cannot operate PL11, but can operate the original Aspide. PL11 is Chinese built Aspide and there are some difference between these two

The thing is J8B carries 3 fuel tank out of the seven hard point it has during its mission, so that is why the J8B in the game can only carry 4 missile

most likely not. J-8B is designed to be a fighter rather than an pure interceptor which Su-15s suppose to be, although J-8B's performance allows it to be operated as an interceptor. Its delta wings look the same as those of Mig21 but in fact some subtle of the airfoil design were intentionally optimized for higher lift coefficient to make J-8 more maneuverable when engaging 3rd gen fighter
Pulse Doppler radars have problems locking targets parallel to them so when locked you try to turn parallel to the lock that’s basically what notching is
When you fly perpendicular to a PD radar you are notching it. Oversimplifying, but PD is radar that measures the rate of change of distance/speed. If you are 90 degrees relative to the radar then you are not moving towards or awau from the aircraft, so the radar cant pick it up.
Hello Defyn just one question, in my years playing war thunder I've been enclined to believe aoa is bad because you bleed speed so quickly that you won't be able to last in a dogfight, yes I know you can get the single shot sometimes because you cut into the enemies turn but what if that enemy is smart and dodges it, then what? your screwed with no energy. Its like calling the T-2 good at dogfighting because it can pull hard but truly it becomes a bus after the first pull
Theres a reason they only pull AoA irl and in other games when its just to pull the target into the hud. This doesn't work in WT (except for sim) where instructor is **always** pulling max G overload. Planes that pull high AoA like the deltas are really good in the first few turns which is similar to rl. The difference is that deltas last a lot shorter than rl since they bleed speed much faster thanks to instructor. It really just means that you have to end the fight when you have the energy before it inevitably devolves into a deck transition where almost all deltas are basically already dead.
No sir u simply use the AoA when u need it. Watch some of the vids on my acct and it shows u how pilot skill makes a diff. I have a vid of me fighting viggen v viggen and I out rate the other guy bc he plays it wrong by simpl holding S. If u hold S ofc ur gonna bleed all ur speed. U choose how much u bleed basically

YOU are the one making the plane bleed its speed and those are customs and 1v1s and im also on a ps4 controller in those not a stick. I play MnK for real matches. We can 1v1 mouse aim vs mouse aim if you'd like? It also is by no means easy to play on a ps4 controller u try it and see if u can even stay in flight

Launch PL-5B at 4km ranges, you will be surprised at how often they hit

My biggest problem with is it, the radar is wrong. Is should be a KLJ-1, not a Type 208A. The 208A armed J-8Bs did not use the PL-11, but this one does.
They did the same thing with the Kfir. It should have an ELM-2021B P/D radar
You are correct that Type 208A cannot operate PL11, but can operate the original Aspide. PL11 is Chinese built Aspide and there are some difference between these two

The thing is J8B carries 3 fuel tank out of the seven hard point it has during its mission, so that is why the J8B in the game can only carry 4 missile
@@pingzhongli3233 it’s fire control systems for the B variant was setup for 4 missiles out of its 6 hard points…mondernized variants come with upgraded electronics and PD radar….able to carry 6 missiles thanks to upgraded FCS… and even more powerful engine’s….

most likely not. J-8B is designed to be a fighter rather than an pure interceptor which Su-15s suppose to be, although J-8B's performance allows it to be operated as an interceptor. Its delta wings look the same as those of Mig21 but in fact some subtle of the airfoil design were intentionally optimized for higher lift coefficient to make J-8 more maneuverable when engaging 3rd gen fighter

Pulse Doppler radars have problems locking targets parallel to them so when locked you try to turn parallel to the lock that’s basically what notching is
When you fly perpendicular to a PD radar you are notching it. Oversimplifying, but PD is radar that measures the rate of change of distance/speed. If you are 90 degrees relative to the radar then you are not moving towards or awau from the aircraft, so the radar cant pick it up.
So the elevator is still reversed on this one...

Hello Defyn just one question, in my years playing war thunder I've been enclined to believe aoa is bad because you bleed speed so quickly that you won't be able to last in a dogfight, yes I know you can get the single shot sometimes because you cut into the enemies turn but what if that enemy is smart and dodges it, then what? your screwed with no energy. Its like calling the T-2 good at dogfighting because it can pull hard but truly it becomes a bus after the first pull
Theres a reason they only pull AoA irl and in other games when its just to pull the target into the hud. This doesn't work in WT (except for sim) where instructor is **always** pulling max G overload. Planes that pull high AoA like the deltas are really good in the first few turns which is similar to rl. The difference is that deltas last a lot shorter than rl since they bleed speed much faster thanks to instructor. It really just means that you have to end the fight when you have the energy before it inevitably devolves into a deck transition where almost all deltas are basically already dead.
No sir u simply use the AoA when u need it. Watch some of the vids on my acct and it shows u how pilot skill makes a diff. I have a vid of me fighting viggen v viggen and I out rate the other guy bc he plays it wrong by simpl holding S. If u hold S ofc ur gonna bleed all ur speed. U choose how much u bleed basically
If you read my comment, you would notice I said instructor is always pulling max Gs. You’re playing with a fucking stick vs someone on M&KB, no fucking shit you out rate them.
@@SavvDaDon u can counter this easily by tapping the pitch down key (W)constantly or u can guide the mouse slower w.e u choose. YOU are the one making the plane bleed its speed and those are customs and 1v1s and im also on a ps4 controller in those not a stick. I play MnK for real matches. We can 1v1 mouse aim vs mouse aim if you'd like? It also is by no means easy to play on a ps4 controller u try it and see if u can even stay in flight
Gaijin weaked PL5B too much,now it is very easy to atrack any hot spot in a long time.And gaijin just weaken J8B a lot,such as give wrong radar ,and decrease 2 weapon hanging spot,cut PL8
the elevator animation on the plane is wrong. it moves the opposite way. gaijin really puts no effort in the Chinese tree
