I wish more people were familiar with songs like this one. He's so well known for being melancholy and heartfelt, but he had so many songs that are breezy and groovy like 'Cello Song'.

He's often compared to elliott smith. Not everyone "gets" them. But I think the ppl who are drawn to them probably have suffered some type of trauma and are very devoted.

Nick Drake does something to me emotionally that few artists can. I was 20 years old the first time I heard his music. A very dear childhood friend came to visit me in college and she brought two things - a Nick Drake album and some MDMA. We enjoyed both while sitting on the grass under the stars where we had a long talk about life and hashed out our feelings surrounding the pregnancy we chose to abort when we were 16. Later, we fell asleep in each other’s arms with the album on repeat. It was therapy that we both desperately needed at the time.

I was a teenager when Nick Drake was around . The big British Cat of this ilk was Cat Stevens . Cat Stevens now known as Yusuf was brilliant . Cat Stephens was well known and he charted . Nick was hardly known in his lifetime . I had never heard of him until the 90s . That is when Nick broke through and became a Superstar , decades after he passed . Of course he is just as brilliant as Cat/ Yusuf Stevens .

I enjoyed this reaction, you're obviously a great music lover. To be slightly pedantic, there's one thing you say I'd take issue with, which is when you describe the guitar playing as "strumming" - I mean, one of Nick Drake's USPs was his extraordinary guitar *picking* - and the opening of Cello Song is a great example of this. Also, and this is very much a personal thing, I wouldn't describe his playing here as gentle - it sounds pretty percussive, almost aggressive even!

I just don't see how music gets better than this
Danny Thompson is from The Pentangle, another great band you'd dig

Such an emotional song. It along with others helped me get through my nephew's death nearly 20 years ago.

Hey, I saw you liked Nick Cave too, so I wanna request you more and leave you an entry of The red handfiles (where Nick answers questions, bassically) where he tells "a sort of Nick Drake story". You put "the red hand files (point) com" all together and then this: relation- between- you- nick-drake / also all together and it will appear ;) Cheers.

Good choice of songs, i think i initially heard "pink moon" on some car commercial on TV, but when i hear a catchy tune the source is irrelevant to me. a couple of personal recommendations are "True" by Spandau Ballet, and a one hit wonder from the 70's "Avenging Annie" by Andy Pratt. your expressions say as much as your commentary. ✌🏼🖖🏼👍🏼

Reaction request to Dreams by The Cranberries. You will love Delores O’Riordan’s voice.
