    I was diagnosed 37 years ago and have been getting treatment that long. I have recently found that Iron, Copper, and Zink all regulate each other so that if your low in one, the others can go High. I began to take Zink and copper and my ferritin dropped drastically.

    I am a mutant with this disease. 4600 was the highest ferritin level so far. After a few phlebs it went down to 3000... I get bloodwork again this monday and am excited to see if it is still going down. Still doing weekly phlebs.

    Very interesting! Could it be that eating much red meat and liver might also cause iron overload for people with Gilbert's syndrome?

    I was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis 2017 and it was found by accident. They were testing my blood for any issues that could be causing my stomach issues. When I was first diagnosed my ferritin was in the 400’s and taking its time coming down but it is coming down. Have no idea who in my family has it but I’m assuming my dad did. He had several strokes before having a massive heart attack. I’m going off of his health.

      @cafe_1969 to have hemochromatosis you have to get one copy from each parent. They both may have been "carriers" of the gene, but not had the disease. I was diagnosed 37 years ago and have been getting treatment that long. I have recently found that Iron, Copper, and Zink all regulate each other so that if your low in one, the others can go High. I began to take Zink and copper and my ferritin dropped drastically. We are related....LoL

      @@zozansinde9610 My doctor said no to my question of should I cut out red meat. But when I did it lowered my levels. There are nutrients that you NEED from meat, so I still eat it, just not as much.

    Hey Guys, I hope you enjoy this video on hemochromatosis! I also want to add in a possible treatment option for hemochromatosis is to limit the amount of vitamin C you take in as vitamin C aids in iron absorption. Thanks for this thorough and clear coverage. I'm being investigated for haemochromatosis just now and awaiting results (my Fe is consistently around 700). [A small pedantic comment, the symbol for iron is just Fe; Fe2+/Fe3+ are iron ions - ferrous and ferric iron respectively.]

    • @aquacruisedb
      @aquacruisedb 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The small pedantic comment: No. You don't eat Fe nor is it present in the body. Fe is the pure chemical element of iron. What you actually eat is Fe2+ (heme-iron, e.g. red meat) and Fe3+ (non-heme iron, e.g plant based). Nowhere in the body or the diet are you ever dealing with pure iron. The confusion arises because when we talk about it we just say "iron" but what we mean is either Fe2+ of Fe3+
