The Sea-Dweller 43 was marvelous to wear. Shiny, grippy bezel. Matte dial with amazing red accent. Incredible depth rating... But just too thick and too top-heavy for my small wrist. I think my new Submariner 41 can take over now, with a more streamlined fit and similar performance...
As an owner of a SD43 since 2022, it should be noted that the Seadweller no longer comes with a diver's extension. As it was of little use to them, many used to remove it anyway to lighten the weight of the watch.
I did not know that. My 2019 SD43 still included the diver extension. But I was tempted several times to remove it, to try to get a better fit on my small wrist.
I bought my SD 43 (Model #126600) brand new December 2022 from a Rolex AD in Los Angeles. I asked the manager about the diver's extension then, and he said it no longer comes with it. I took him at his word. If the 126600 is still currently sold with the diver's extension I don't know why mine doesn't have it and why the manager of the Rolex AD said it no longer comes with it.
@@jmann2977 man I’m telling you my watch was manufactured in March 2023 and sold to me in July of 2023 brand new with stickers from Windsor a Rolex AD. Confirmed this with Rolex when I had insurance placed on my watch.
Great video! I have both but I find I wear the SD much more often. I like the nice clean balanced look of the Sub but I definitely like the larger size of the SD.
Did the same as you. Actually traded a Sub for the SD. After two weeks with the SD on the wrist, I really missed the Sub. I loved almost everything about the SD, the dial, the bezel and the 43mm size fit my wrist fine. It was the thickness and extra weight that did it in for me. When wearing the Sub you forget it is on the wrist. The Sub is one of the most comfortable watch I have ever owned. The SD never lets you forget its there. So sadly sold the SD and got a Sub back! 124060 FTW! Not a cyclops 👁️ guy, ruins the aesthetic, throws off the symmetry, but it’s a deep abyss black dial that you look into forever, 2 lines looks more retro but now I’m nitpicking cause the 4 lines are fine
Great video comparison !! I have the SD43 and I love it but I know it’s not and everyday watch. For reference I have a 7’ wrist and I liked big watches but 43 is my limit. My advice KEEP BOTH 😃
I had a mk1 dial 2017 sd new release let it go for exactly the same reasons your 05 sub looks in immaculate condition I wish I had kept hold of my very early models. Different mind set back then good luck with reducing your collection it would be interesting to know how much you get for the pieces you let go thanks for the video the sd brings back different memories of special things to me
I would stick to the preceramic for you. Looks fantastic and very proportional. Ps i would add the preceramic in your title as many would be interesting in the comparison
After waiting 15 months, I got the call from my San Diego AD yesterday. Owner of a 124060 now! I’ve got a few Seiko, Citizens and Gshocks, but this is my one and done luxury timepiece. Which I’m good with. 😊
I found it on grey market and within 24hrs I had skipped the line and the wait, worth every penny to land a 124060 brand new, full set and literally worn once by a guy who kept it in his safe (bought it to resell)
According to my my measurements, the Sub 124060 is 12.38mm thick, compared to the Sub Date 16610 which is 12.63mm. I was surprised that the 16610 was thicker, but this has to do with the thicker case-back on the wrist. The 124060 has a slightly thinner case-back. They both have the appearance of very similar thickness of the case. So, I don't thing that the thickness should be a deal-breaker between the two. The main difference is that the 124060 has a better movement, solid center link bracelet, glide-lock clasp, and cleaner dial.

I walked in and got my Submariner the same day. But you need a significant prior purchase history to get it. The bluesy is easier to get. The Pepsi and Batman are much more difficult.

I should have expected that you already have experience with several versions of the Submariner. I'm working on my new Patek acquisition video next, so it is coming up soon. I suppose you already know which one it is... I think it should make a good companion to my first Patek. Owning two Patek Philippe watches from the AD is a major milestone for me. It can only go up from here. I genuinely think that I now have my "foot in the door," and now have access to another Patek in the future...probably every 2-3 years if I choose so.

Sub is perfect. SD needs to lose the cyclops and some thickness if possible
I think the previous version sea-dweller was ideal. 40mm and no cyclops. but a very short purchasing opportunity, they discontinued it very quickly.
What was the cost of the older Sub Date at the time you bought it?
According to my receipt, the Sub Date, when I purchased it new on 3/1/2007 was $5,075.00
