- Whilst anyone that knows this channel will not be surprised by this fact, Superliminal completely blew my mind and made it melt into a little puddle of jelly which Paddy then licked up leaving me no more intelligent or mental competent than an architect... Yes, this game is not for the weak. Perception based puzzles are absolutely fantastic though and I strongly recommend you go and check out this game!

Superliminal is a first-person puzzle game based on forced perspective and optical illusions. Puzzles in this game give you a sense of the unexpected. Players need to change their perspective and think outside the box to wake up from the dream.
As you fall asleep with the TV on at 3AM, you remember catching a glimpse of the commercial for Dr. Pierce’s Somnasculpt dream therapy program. By the time you open your eyes, you’re already dreaming - beginning the first stages of this experimental program.
Explore a dream world where everything is exactly as it seems. Tread carefully as the world slowly unravels around you and subverts your expectations. What you see isn’t always precisely what you get.
In this fully-voiced adventure, Dr Glenn Pierce is doing his questionable best to guide you home and out of the dreamscape. His artificial intelligence assistant, however, is having trouble understanding exactly how you’re here at all, and has other plans for you.

@@tsm688 Architect's job is to design a beautiful building and the engineer's job is to explain to the architect every single way in which the proposed building design wouldn't be able to stand, isn't to code, etc. so we just piss on the architect's parade. This game where physics doesn't matter an it's imaginative thinking for problem solving seems to be made by an architect

Honestly, Superliminal is probably one of my favorite games, just because of how interesting all the mechanics and psychological style are
One you didn't comment on during the video is when you are walking towards the door you just see "Die Die Die Die" down the side of the door.
You get close and they are boxes of Diet soda stacked on top of each other.
I really loved the way this game subverts expectations.

When I was getting my Engineering degree, My Thesis Director asked me to help him reviewing architect's papers that were submitted for publication, It was more of a Picture book than a Thesis, they were like the books you buy for your coffee table (for comparison)… certainly some were pretty good renders and shots, but then I reached a podium design that was an upside down triangle I Immediately said "This will get someone hurt", the Dr. Replied if you send that critique, the Architects will just say "but look how pretty it is"

Absolutely. Playing Superliminal gave me so many Antichamber feelings (though they are also fairly different premises). Loved that game.
@@nikkiofthevalley Antichamber is a puzzle platformer with lots of unintuitive mechanics and weird physics gimmicks, but it's really well implemented. Definitely recommend it if you want to be very confused for several hours

Especially that door that you could move around, but still end up in the same corridor... I can think of several ways it could've been done, but coding it wouldn't have been easy :P
Now you're thinking with portals. And by portals, I of course mean these portals: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_rendering
The fact that the portal surfaces can link to others that are different size adds a small kink (you have to scale the player character when they go through), but otherwise they're quite standard technology from quite a long time ago. Original Unreal is first game I know where you could manually define disconnected portals at arbitrary angles, not just have automatically generated portals for visibility calcs.

So the first time I saw this game, was via some speedrunners, and they just showed the quickest known route of that time(they lowerede the time for the run very fast). And back then, I just followed the same route.

This game has a really important message in the dialogue and gameplay and i get mad because everyone who plays it pays no attention to what the game is really about. Its about taking control of your life and how a change in PERSPECTIVE can really turn a situation around. The whole game being a dream within a dream where you believe everything is spiraling out of control of even the operators of this experiment when really it was all part of the plan to teach you how to take control and turn things around when you feel like youre stuck at a dead end. I really encourage anyone who hasnt played it or has and didnt pay attention to play it and listen to the doctor.
If I showed all that then people might not play the game themselves! 😉

Real Civil Engineer, this comment is probably going to be ignored and overlooked almost immediately, so I'm gonna post this comment on every new video as soon as it's uploaded.
I wanna get into engineering (automotive engineering, preferably regarding performance vehicles). I know mathematics, physics, and material sciences are very crucial, but I'm not very good at math (mainly just algebraic calculations). I'm in high school and know that big decisions re coming up real soon.
I wanna know what exactly is expected of any engineering courses since I truly think your one of the most entertaining engineering channel (yes better than engineering explained. rip if you don't know) and that I trust that you are a fully professional engineer.
Though you're of the civil engineering branch, I still want to know the basics of excelling in any engineering courses in the future.

This recently came to Xbox game pass (I’m pretty sure) and I played through it, and this game is just an absolute masterpiece imo, and my favorite part is the speedrunning potential, I’ve done three runs so far, and got a 29 minute time, and it’s still just so fun
