Hacking the Boot Car into Shroom City in Paper Mario: The Origami King (Glitches, animations, etc)

- Today we continue to look at secrets/ interesting discoveries in Paper Mario: The Origami King, and we focus our attention on getting the boot car into Shroom City today (known as "Snif City" by some). Normally there's a shy guy at the start of Shroom City that doesn't let you bring the boot car into the city. We'll edit Mario's vertical position to get him past this sniffit, and get the boot car into Shroom City where we can test all kinds of fun stuff!
There are many things that we have access to in Shroom City with the boot car that the boot car doesn't have access to elsewhere: benches, buildings, doors, bodies of water, and different NPCs are a few of these differences, and we can explore what glitches and effects we run into if we mess around with this, and how this affects our followers! We also have a parade with Kamek, Baby Bowser, Bobby, and Professor Toad
More info about the comment at 5:23 - The boot car only seems to load while in certain loading zones, and only at certain areas. If you save while in the boot car and edit Mario's save spawn location, he CAN have the boot car in the Scorching Sandpaper Desert and Shroom City, and he CAN "teleport" between these two locations with save file editing. If we try the same thing for other locations (e.g. trying to bring the boot car to the ice vellumental temple), the game loads Mario without the boot car or the save file doesn't work.
Something similar happens if we leave the boot car parked outside in Shroom City: if we park the boot car in Shroom City, step into a house, and then leave the house, you can see the boot car for a moment where it was parked, but then it disappears immediately! The boot car respawns at the parking spot outside of Shroom City. If Mario is in the boot car before leaving the house, this doesn't happen, and Mario simply appears in the boot car.

That is insane! Especially with the driving in the boot car around the desert city and running over snifit there, but the effects are mostly the crumple effect by being hit by a hammer. Welcome to Grand theft Mario, origami style!

Great video as always, really loving the content! Seeing Junior on-foot there made me think whether you could remove the clown car for the whole duration you see him, and just make him walk the whole time. Who likes that thing anyway! It would be interesting to see what battling with him will be like without the clown car and how it will look with kamek holding him. Just a fun idea anyway! It would also be cool to see some more screentime of the characters out of their specific areas, maybe you've already dedicated a video to that and I haven't caught up to it yet though :)

What happens if you hack the Boot Car to all locations besides the desert?
One of two problems happen: either the boot car doesn't load and Mario appears without it, or the save file doesn't work :( More info is at 5:23 in the video and in the pinned comment on this video!
I wish someone would make a whole mod with the following few things
Luigi being able to be in battle and be a actual partner
Bobby being a ghost partner
Being able to have bowser jr, kamek, and bowser all be partners at the same time somehow
Making a aftergame story
Having a boss rush with a secret boss after doing all the bosses
And most importantly: HAVING ACTUALLY ORIGINAL CHARACTERS
That would be really cool! There are some people currently working on some of this stuff in the Paper Mario modding community, Hunter Xuman has made a lot of different characters for Paper Mario: The Origami King as an example!

I love the reference 😂 The teleport took me to an invalid loading zone, I think I had some values locked! That often happens, and a cool thing about messing with the loading zone values is that you can end up in developer rooms that you can't normally access!

What happens if you get a lot of holes by the hole punch attacks until you "probably" disappear cause you have too much holes
i think if you put yourself in godmode you will be able to see the results

how do you edit Marios vertical position?
One of the easiest ways is with Cheat Engine, I have a video about how to edit save data in Paper Mario: The Origami King that shows how to edit the game live in part of the video

Getting the boot car into the city is done by editing Mario's vertical position and passing high enough over the area that triggers the dialogue that stops you from entering the city with the boot car
Getting all of the followers to follow Mario while they're on foot is done by entering a house with the boot car and then leaving
